Elizabeth knew more than anyone the devastating effects of having Mister joey Drew as a boss. Being the only nurse around she personally got to tend to all of the side effects, leading her to be quite the busy woman. Still though, it never managed to change that heart of gold she possessed. She was on the side of her fellow employees, of course, and wasn’t afraid to stabd up against Mister Drew for those who needed it. Even if it sometimes ended with her leaving his office in tears.
Mister Bertrum Piedmont was one of the many overworked employees here at the studio. Joey did him so awfully bad, she was honestly surprised he didn’t have more blood pressure problems. He was also rather stubborn, it seemed, but when he softened enough to give in to her offers the studio’s nurse offers a warm smile.
“It’s the least I can do for you, Mister Piedmont, really.” Elizabeth insisted softly, pulling over her cart of treats. It was something she had made up on her own, a cart to hold all of her treats and medical supplies. After all the studio was massive– and sometimes it was simply unreasonable to go all the way back to the infirmary just to get something. Especially if someone was hurt. A cup is turned over, and filled with piping hot coffee. “How would you like it, sir?”
Once again - she truly is the real angel, in that Studio. The fact that she went up and down that god forsaken place with her cart just to try and bring a little bit of calmness in the worker’s hearts after having to deal with someone like Joey on daily basis already said a lot about her, and so did her kindness towards someone as grumpy and unfriendly as he was.
Admidetly, he wasn’t the easiest guy to deal with, after all.
“As sweet as it can get, miss.” he replied with a tired tone, yet still doing his best to show at least the tiniest smile “After what that man had to say, I really need some sugar.”
The way Elizabeth saw it, it was her job to take care of those in the studio. Through her time working there she had already met with each one personally, and each held a special place in her heart. Perhaps even Mister Drew because, despite how they clashed, they still held some level of odd, mutual respect for each other. Was it bitter? Of course. But the fact that she hadn’t been fired clearly meant she was doing something right.
Bertrum, of course, was no exception either. Sure he was one of the newest staff members and he might come off a bit cold at times— but Elizabeth understood that he was simply a hardworking man who wanted respect. In fact, Elizabeth often found herself with the stand-offish the most. The ever elusive Norman Polk, for example, was easily her closest friend. So, despite his stiffness, the nurse couldn’t help but to enjoy his presence.
A small nod, and dainty hands set about working their magic to make a delightfully sweet cup of coffee. As she listens, however, soft lips tug into a frown at eyebrows pinch upwards. “Ah, so Joey was here recently?” The cup is lifted and offered out to Bertrum. “I’m... awfully sorry about him, Mister Piedmont. He can be a lot...” A small sigh and then a smile, perhaps the softest that was ever made, was given. “But for what it’s worth, I really love your work and enjoy having you here. You’re a true miracle maker, sir.” Crystal blue eyes meet and hold his gaze for just a moment, before shifting quickly back to her cart. “Oh, I also brought in homemade pastries today. Would you care for one?”

Miss Susie Campbell.
Her name alone was enough to send Elizabeth’s heart a-flutter, to the point where she’d clutch at her chest and heave a dreamy sigh. Miss Campbell was just so sweet, so ambitious, so... perfect. From the way she looked to the way she acted, there wasn’t a single part of her that Elizabeth hadn’t fallen head over heels for. The way her ebony hair would fall so perfectly without her having to try and those-- eyes. Those beautiful, shining eyes! The love-struck nurse could never find it in herself to meet them for long, but when she did it felt like they could pull her in and keep her entranced for years. Oh what she wouldn’t give to lace their fingers together so delicately or to lean herself carefully against Miss Campbell on some beautiful front porch swing on a warm summer’s day. Or maybe she could even--
What was that?
Snapped out of her daydream by the sound of high heels clicking on wooden stairs, Elizabeth felt her chest tighten as she closed her notebook and pushed it hastily into her desk drawer before locking it tight. Was she dreaming? She knew those clicks so well by now; the clicks of the heels worn by none other than Miss Susie herself. But a glance at the clock gave way to confusion. It was long after studio closing time, why was Miss Susie still here? Or, even better-- why was she still here? Had she lost track of time while daydreaming? Or had she been so tired that she fell asleep altogether again? Either way there was no time to wonder because in a moment the door opened-- to revel the studio angel herself.
“O-Oh! Miss Campbell! Why.. you scared the living daylights out of me.” A soft laugh, to mask the pink rising to her fair cheeks. “What can I do for you?”
Looks like Mister Drew’s a bit off his rocker at the moment.
Time to slooowly close the infirmary doors, turn off the lights, and act like she’s not there.

“I love everything I do. I’m immensely interested in and enthusiastic in everything I do, everything. No matter what it is I’m doing, no matter how trivial, it isn’t trivial to me. I give it all I got and love it. I love living. I love life.”
Carole Lombard (October 6, 1908 - January 16, 1942)
The entire music department was in uproar. It wasn’t quite so uncommon for it to be this way when it flooded, but today it was worse— because from the infirmary had came a shrill scream; signaling that the studio’s nurse was still inside. With the music director himself fleeing to get to the (oh-so hated) pump switch in his office, two men from the band decided to toss their own safety aside in favor of diving in after Elizabeth.
What took minuets felt like hours, and as the ink began to drain the men trudged back up the stairs, holding their nurse up by her arms as her feet dragged behind her. She was covered from head to toe in ink and entirely unmoving, thus laid out on the wet wooden floor. After another few moments however the nurse’s body jolted, and she began to cough and sputter; flipping herself onto her stomach and holding herself up with her trembling arms in an attempt to expel the putrid, slightly toxic liquid from her chest. Gasps and soft cries left her as legs curled under her small frame, and arms wrapped tight around herself, one hand trying desperately to wipe the ink from her eyes so that she could see again.
Scared? Certainly. And who wouldn’t be? She could have died down there! Despite the fact that nobody was helping her (maybe they didn’t know how?) she could hear the crowd gathered around her, and figured the whole department must’ve been there by now to see. Elizabeth heard whispers of going to get Joey, too, but what could he do? All she really wanted was a towel— how embarrassing was it to have the whole music department and the CEO of the company watch her cry and shake on the floor?

GIVE UP ?
hate to break it to you, but…
THAT ISN’T IN MY VOCABULARY !
;;by the way, this is what Elizabeth is wearing at Ink the halls!
Pathofthedemon:
now, Oreo never really —— understood why Joey Drew Studios actually needed an INFIRMARY of all things. were all studios like this ? did other toons like Mickey & Oswald & Betty Boop have the luxury of having a place to go for when their adventures would turn into MISADVENTURES ? he had the nagging feeling that the place was important to him once —— but either way ! without the infirmary, he wouldn’t have known such a sweet lady like ELIZABETH !
& that was why he would practically perk up when he saw the nurse. his little JELLY BEAN smile would only grow bigger upon her words & he nodded eagerly; bouncing on his heels as he stood.
✒ .。.:*・°⛧ —— ’ oh boy, am I ! ya free to talk ALL the time ya need ! especially if its Christmas & especially if its the two of us ! lead the way ! ’
In Oreo’s defense-- not even Elizabeth knew why the studio needed a nurse when she was first hired. But after she took the tour, well... she could understand perfectly well. While it’s true that she mostly took care of the human employees, the toons were just as important in her eyes, and would easily drop whatever she was doing to come to their aid. She even learned a few things about caring for them, and as a result usually carried an inkwell with her for emergencies.
But there were no emergencies to be had tonight (not yet, anyway) and the nurse had busied herself with giving out her multitude of presents. But when she saw how the little demon reacted to her presence, she couldn’t help but to feel a swelling of warmth in her chest. To be so liked was a rare thing, she knew, and she was so very thankful for her time here at the studio.
“Wonderful! I hope you like what I got, I had a very specific idea of what I wanted to give you.” The nurse admits with a soft laugh, leading Oreo down the hall and away from all the festivities and commotion. She stopped before the door to a rather tiny office, pulling out a key and unlocking it before pushing the door open for the cartoon to see. And there, sitting on the desk, was a glorious double stack oreo cake. “I’ve been baking a little bit more recently... I hope you enjoy it.”

In all honesty, Elizabeth and Susie didn’t talk too much. It wasn’t that they disliked each other, (at least... she certainly hoped not!) but they never truly had much reason to talk. Miss Susie was always so busy, and she stayed healthy, too (which was good, of course!) so she only really ever came by for her regular check-ups. Would Elizabeth like for them to talk more? Well... of course, but somehow she always found herself turning at the last second to talk to someone else. What was it about her that made it so hard to approach..?
Either way, Elizabeth had to buck up tonight. She had presents to give! And Miss Susie Campbell was going to be no exception! Clutching the rather small box in her fingers tightly, the nurse took in a few deep breaths to prepare herself before smiling and marching straight up to the ravenette.
“Good evening Miss Susie! I hope I’m not interrupting anything, I just though I’d come by to give you your present. It is Christmas, after all!” The small box was thrust forward then, already rosy cheeks glowing as she offered out her gift. Inside of the box would be a sparkly new necklace. Was it a weird gift to give someone you hardly knew? Maybe... but it was far too late to back out now!

Ah, there he was. Just the little devil darling she had been looking for! To many people, all of the little toons were nearly impossible to tell apart, but Elizabeth could tell just fine. They were all different, after all, each with their own personalities and mannerisms. And their own likes, too! Which certainly came in hand when the nurse picked every single one of them their own gifts.
“Oreo-” Elizabeth began, beaming down at the little devil. “I got you a gift! I couldn’t carry it in here though, others might try to take a piece. Do you want to come see what it is? I promise it’ll only take a few moments-- it’s just right down the hall here.”
