Jakarta daily,
Walk through with the public transportation around jakarta city are always the same thing. The bustle, rush, bored, and forbearence are mixed together pressing you down to feel the atmosphere of this big city life.
One afternoon in suburban Jakarta. Happy hour!
Good ol'high, visual clip first semester of my film study.. just enjoy it..
Chez fantôme.. This is the old building of netherlands in jakarta, indonesia. it was the bank, and now is the house of ghost.
Walking 3 hours together with Klavdij sluban and Diana lui making street photography in jakarta. Such a great day...
Traffic jam in Jakarta
Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is recently inhabitated by approximately more than 12 million people coming from any tribes and ethnics trough out Indonesia. This fact makes this city deal with many complex problems such as areas living, flood, clean and healthy environment and the most complex problem is daily traffic jam.
Jakarta has a very high movement for its populations. Jakartans move around the city in every second, even in the night. This mobility hasn’t been supported by proper public transportations. Buses and other public transportations called “angkot” (city transportation) are not in good condition. The drivers often allow passengers to get in and get off everywhere they want. The same phenomenon happens while they are waiting for passengers to take their buses or angkots. Hence, this makes the traffic jam become worse and worse.
Observing these phenomena make the gouvernement of DKI (Special Region for the Capital) Jakarta have been providing special public transportation named Trans Jakarta (Busway) with special tracks only for them. This effort aimes the Jakartans to take Busway rather than their private vehicles so that it can solve the problem of daily traffic jam. However, the Busway project has to deal with several problems such as the limited number of buses and tracks compared to the number of passengers. Never the less, DKI Jakarta gouvernement efforts to build more tracks for Busway results the more complex problem of traffic jam because the roads became narrower. Finally, the Jakartans still using their own vehicles dare to use Busway tracks to avoid the crowded roads.
The fact that’s there is no a proper public transportation makes the Jakartans prefer their own vehicle. We can see two or three cars parking in a house and it already becomes common. So, the number of cars and motorcycles increases every year. This become worse by a new policy imposed by central gouvernement (Gouvernement of Republic Indonesia) that is “cheap car policy”. No wonder, it will make Jakarta crowded by more and more vehicle.
The photographs I took tell you that Jakarta is very crowded city. Just I told you, the traffic jams never end even in the night, they happen every time and everywhere, not only on a highways but also on a small streets. Hmmm… you know what happens then. The Jakartans become tired, upset, don’t want to do, get used to or even fall asleep. Some words from me, enjoy it, enjoy Jakarta…..
_This photos series were in jakarta biennale 2013 exhibition and in the middle year of 2014 it will be at Bali, Surabaya, semarang, malang, bandung, and this april will be in Niort, France. So if you wanna see all my creation please come to my exhibition. Soon i will give the newest information where is exactly my exhibition will be on. _
