Saturday Morning {001}
âWhat are you talking about? Doing your laundry is the most fun I have all week!â She teased, though in between all the school work and intern work, the affair, doing his laundry was probably the most mundane thing she did. The act of washing and folding his clothes was the most relaxing and natural thing she did. As she watched him finish his drink, Martha still held half of her coffee in between her hands, watching his dreamy eyes move around the room and back to her face.Â
âWell letâs hear all your wonderful ideas, they canât be better than laundry and cleaning.â She invited as she playfully poked his side.
George couldnât help but laugh at her response, shaking his head slightly. âWe have got to get you a life,â he joked as he turned to rinse his coffee cup out, setting it in the drainer, giving himself a moment to think. He hadnât been ready to be forced to come up with an alternative. He life mostly boiled down to going to class, getting through his internship, going out on the weekends, and wedging as much sleep as possible in between, with Saturdays reserved for Martha. He wasnât exactly a font of fun weekend activities lately.Â
Finally, he shrugged, turning back to her. âI donât know, what did we used to?â He left the rest of the question unsaid. What did they used to do, before the nights George spent crying in her lap, before they broke up, before college happened and they both became infinitely busy, before they became this disconnected mess where doing laundry was what they did when they spent time together.Â
