I want happy lesbian media.

I want a book about a girl who falls in love with another girl over a school project and they kiss at their lockers and hold hands in the library. I want a TV show about a small-town girl who moves to the Big City for university and meets a girl there and they start dating and come home to the little town to visit and Funny Shenanigans ensue. I want a movie about a woman who has everything, a career, a house, friends, but something still doesn’t feel right so she goes Soul Searching and finds the love of her life. I want a rom-com about lesbian mums raising their problematic but lovable children. I want a sitcom about a group of LGBT friends and the two lesbians of the group deny they’re in love but everyone can see it and more Funny Shenanigans ensue as they try and set them up.

All I want is some happy-fucking-lesbian-media that doesn’t revolve around one dying, or leaving their husband or getting together with a man in the end, or they can’t be together for whatever dramatic cinematic reason or they get fucking hate-crimed by the entire town.

I want the lesbian media for young lesbians today that I deserved when I was thirteen and fourteen and the only thing I could find was ‘Blue Is The Warmest Colour’ at the video store and trying to sneak it past my mum and seeing the disgust on her face when she read the rating ‘R-18+, High Impact Sex Scenes.’

We deserve some goddamn happy, corny, carefree, loving lesbian media, alright?
