It was apparent that this city was set on providing Marx with an abundance of stress and issues. He wasn't quite ready to trust the metal carriages that he saw other people using, but he still needed a mode of transport. He wasn't particularly fond of the idea of getting a replacement horse--there was a certain amount of bonding between a horse and its rider, it wasn't such a simple matter to switch to another one. But without his own horse around, there simply wasn't another option available to him. The only problem was the Marx had no idea where he could possibly get a horse. Everything looked so unfamiliar to him, so advanced. It would be difficult to do this alone, leaving the prince to find someone gracious enough to lend a hand.

From a distance, Marx spotted a man that he only vaguely recognized--not as an acquaintance or anything like that. A few days ago, some gossip about horses spread across the city and Marx was certain that this man had been a part of it. Surely he would be able to get some help from him.

"Pardon me, sir, but would you happen to know where I can acquire a horse?"

Marx stared in bewilderment as his attention was caught by a peculiar creature. Without a question or doubt, this thing before him was Camilla's wyvern; he'd seen it enough, both in the castle and on the battlefield to recognize it instantly. Why it could only barely come up to his knee was another thing entirely.

He picked the wyvern up carefully, meeting with just the smallest amount of resistance. Camilla couldn't have been too far. Marx looked around the crowded area for a flash of purple hair or the glint of armor, but to no avail. Although the prospect of running into his sister seemed like a positive one--because it was true that he wanted to see her again--it just made Marx even more worried. There was still no guarantee that this city wasn't somehow a trap, not to mention that this meant that Leon and Kamui were probably by themselves back home. They could take care of themselves; Marx had faith in their capabilities, but belief did little to halt his growing concerns.

The change of surroundings was quite a shock to Elise. There wasn’t a single similar factor between this weird city and her home country, so wandering around the vast spread of buildings in a confused state was not the most fun activity for the princess. On closer inspection, there was just one thing here that was familiar to her. Even seeing his blonde hair from a distance, Elise could tell exactly who she was looking at, so breaking into a sprint and hurling herself at her older brother, arms wide, was really not a surprising action at all. Brothers should always be prepared for hugs.

“Marx-oniichan! How did you get here! I thought I’d be all by myself!”

In the short span that Marx had been in the city, a countless number of concerns weighed upon his shoulders. What would his father think of his disappearance? Would he call Marx a traitor? Would he somehow take it out on the others? There was nothing he could do and it was enough to make him feel physically ill. These worries were a constant nagging that clouded his thoughts, which left him distracted enough to not notice someone approaching him before it was too late. Luckily, they weren’t hostile.

From the action itself to the bubbly lilt of her voice—Marx knew who his attacker was before looking down and seeing his youngest sister’s bright smile.

“Elise? How did you—”

Unease began to fill him—this city was undoubtedly a trap; Elise’s presence here would do nothing but put her in danger. But at the same time, he couldn’t help the relief he felt at seeing Elise unharmed and, most importantly, happy. Previously, he had made a conscious effort to separate himself from his siblings, but perhaps... perhaps since this was a reunion of sorts and in an unfamiliar place, he could allow himself at least this much. He could indulge, if only for a moment. Although it was a little stiffly, Marx draped his arms over Elise’s shoulders so they hung loosely around her smaller frame.

“I’m glad to see that you’re alright. Shall we go and look for the others? They might be here as well.”
