Visiting Powell's Used Books in Portland, Oregon and getting coffee my attention was quickly captured by a gentleman sitting at a table dancing with napkins and making flowers. Apparently he's a well known fixture to the scene. Arnold World is mostly known for making beautiful flowers out of napkins using Japanese paper folding techniques. But what captured my attention was watching him choose a song from his playlist and then doing a mesmerizing ballet with strips of torn napkins. I hate writing with pencils. Can't stand it. It's a sensory thing. When I do need to use a pencil it has to be sharp. Really sharp. So I love that my workbench has an old Boston KS pencil sharpener attached to it. Last night I was going through some old footage I shot in Haiti. I came across this scene of our friend, who was nicknamed "21", shelling cashews as a going away gift for some of us. Making some bright light! For a video project at work I needed to find two long lights and hang them vertically. I know you can buy such lights professionally, but right now I don't have a great need for them. So I thought I would DIY the lights. So I headed to the hardware store and found two LED shop lights. These things are really light, as in not heavy, and fairly bright with what seems to be even illumination. The next hurdle was figuring out how to hang them vertically on a light stand since these are meant to be hung from a ceiling and hardwired in. After some thinking I headed to the plumbing section.
