How did 3 weeks fly by? Time seems to be moving faster than it ever has before. Needless to say it’s been busy and I’ve had a few interesting developments and changes.
1. It’s been weeks since I had a bakers cyst burst. The recovery has been brutal but the swelling in my leg has finally gone down completely. My knee is completely straight now including the knee cap. The pulling in the muscles around the knee has been painful and difficult to deal with but I’m working on it and plan to see the acupuncturist a few more times. I am able to exercise more and put more weight on my leg which is a good thing. I’ve lost allot of muscle mass and need to start working to build my body back up. Squats are definitely becoming easier however I do have allot of residual body aches most days in my hips, hamstrings and knees.
2. I’ve increased my dose of ozempic very slowly. The pharmacist filled a 1mg pen and I was still taking 0.25 as a dose. I found out you can do 18 clicks for 0.25 so I started addling a few extra clicks every week and am now almost up to 0.5. The increase is helping my pain and inflammation but I avoided the chronic nausea doing it this way.
3. My weight is still sitting at 245 kg however clothing i haven’t worn in years is fitting. I am back into my size 20 jeans and even they are a bit lose. I did a huge closet clean out and gave all my sweaters to a friend who is always cold and my little summer bolero jackets and shrugs to a woman I used to work with. Both are on limited budgets and appreciated the clothing. The rest I gave to a community project that provides clothing to those in need at zero cost. They take everything from pyjamas to bathing suits and people are allowed to shop for what they need without payment. I, avoiding purchasing anything new if I can.
4. I decided I needed to speak with a therapist as I was struggling to get motivated and functioning even on medication. After a very long discussion she suggested that I likely have undiagnosed ADHD. After allot of reading and research I believe she is correct. I was that girl who was super organized, praised all the time, never caused trouble, stellar school record. I hit perimenopause and it was as if my brain shut off. I can’t follow a thought, forget what I am doing, squirrel clean, never finish a task, and end up doing nothing because I am frozen trying to decide what to start. I refuse to take more medications so I have been applying some suggestions she gave me. I wrote specific routines for every morning and night. I tackled the one big cleaning project I had been putting off (deep cleaning my bathroom). I then started doing weekly “tasks” such as wiping down the bathroom so it doesn’t get dirty. This has made a huge difference for me. I never have an overflowing sink full of dishes anymore, or mountains of laundry. One of the things I wanted to do was start and maintain a good skin care routine so I don’t end up looking like a wrinkled leather shoe. So far I have kept my routines and haven’t abandoned my skin care. Small manageable goals for the win!
5. I also did some research on alternative supplements for those I can’t take. Collagen makes me itchy, fish oils aggravate my GERD, and glucosamine gives me tremors for some reason. I also can’t take tumeric due to an allergy. I’ve been faithfully taking flax oil, egg shell membrane, vitamin B 12, Vit,Ain D and magnesium along with an immunity booster and I’m sleeping better, have less joint cracking, as well as less numbness in my feet. My hairdresser also took some classes about the biology of the scalp. The only place I sweat is my scalp and it is so bad that I can’t even dry my hair to go out. She started me on a special scalp lotion and shampoo to rest the microbiomes in the scalp. I am already noticing a difference.
6. I’ve been keeping my diet very clean with lots of protein but allowing myself a treat every day. I’m consuming ,ugh less sugar and I’m noticing that the white film on my tongue has vanished, my ears are less itchy and my digestive system is working much better.
All in all I am feeling much better physically and mentally. There is allot of hard work ahead to get my body where it needs to be to function at its optimal movement but I’m not quitting. There is also allot of hard work ahead to get the house where I want it to be but I have better focus with my routines and I can do it. I hope that everyone else is making strides in their own journeys. ❤️
