Interview - Parade.com Talks to Phillip About Major Crimes

Paulette Cohn of Parade.com did an exclusive interview with Phillip, in which they talked about Major Crimes, his character Buzz Watson, and more.

There was that moment when Sanchez returned and everybody was really happy to see him, but you could see Buzz, and he too was happy for Sanchez, but he pushed his badge aside and viewers could see his disappointment. What was he feeling?

Of course, he was glad to see that Sanchez was back, but at the same time, he realized that he had to go back to his old life of being a reserve officer and no longer being a reserve detective.  I think it triggered some thoughts in his mind. I don’t think he is satisfied being in that position any longer, having had a taste of what it was like to really be out in the field and working hand in hand with his colleagues on a different level. So in that moment, he really decided that something needed to change or his life was just going to be not as fulfilling as he wanted it to be.

Phillip was interviewed for the “Featured People” section of the October 29 issue of Gladys Magazine. He talked about Major Crimes, his dream job, his holiday plans and much more.

What is your dream project?

First, like every other actor with a pulse, I would love to do a scene with Meryl Streep! But, truthfully, my dream project is living a fulfilling life. I know that’s not the answer people probably want from me, but it’s the truth. I want to feel like my actions matter. I want to know I tried to do the best I could with every opportunity. Life is my dream project and my goal is to live it as well as possible.

You’ve seen Buzz develop and grow a lot – it’s been a really cool run for him. When you think about where he was when you first met him to where he is now, what are you the most proud of?

I’m very proud of the character – he has pursued his dreams and he’s achieved them. He wanted to become an officer from the get-go and there were some things in his way. He really put a lot of work into this and he was able to achieve his goals.

Major Crimes - New Promo

Despite the sad news that the upcoming sixth season of Major Crimes will be the last, we still have thirteen fantastic episodes to look forward to. Let’s make sure we all turn up and give this wonderful show and its cast and crew the sendoff they deserve. If we make TNT weep when they look at the amazing ratings, that would be a pleasant side effect.

News: Major Crimes Canceled

We wish that we were coming to you with better news, but sadly, we are not. Season 6 of Major Crimes will be the last.

TNT has opted to cancel its number one scripted program. More details can be found on TVWise.

Show creator James Duff shared the following message on Facebook earlier:

I’m directing the finale of Major Crimes, so I can’t really answer all the questions that are being asked today about why Major Crimes was cancelled before we ran our sixth season. But I do want you to know that it was not at all my idea, nor did I want to leave the show. The actors, the writers, the producers and our talented crew would have held on as long as we were relevant. I am extraordinarily thankful to our viewers, who followed us to four different time slots in the last eighteen months, and who make up a very large part of what we call the community of the show. Without the loyalty of our audience, Major Crimes would have been gone much sooner. We’ll have a chance to talk about what happened in the near future. Meanwhile, we are determined to give you the best season we can. So sorry I couldn’t stop this moment from happening.

For now, please join us as we express our sorrow at this news, and our thanks to this crew for 13 years of wonderful storytelling. Without a doubt, this was a hell of a ride. We wish the cast and crew only the very best, and let us, as fans, make Season 6 the most watched and enjoyed of this show’s amazing journey.

Major Crimes Season 6 - Premiere Date

TNT finally set a premiere date for Major Crimes’ 6th season. Make sure you go trick or treating early on Halloween, because at 9 pm EST our favorite crime solving team will be back. So mark your calendars, book time off work, and set a reminder to unplug your phone – on Tuesday, October 31 at 9/8c, Major Crimes will be back!

Season synopsis:

TNT’s Major Crimes faces its three most challenging cases, struggling to solve mysteries mired in complex political conflicts having little to do with identifying and arresting murderers. As Cmdr. Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) grows accustomed to her new boss, Assistant Chief Leo Mason (Leonard Roberts), the detectives find themselves questioning their faith in the rapidly changing priorities of the justice system and their ability to reason through difficult changes in their personal relationships. Finally, they must accept the necessity of risk, in all its different guises, as they prepare to face the inexplicable but increasingly undeniable return of Phillip Stroh (guest star Billy Burke).

Interview: TVOvermind Talks to Phillip Keene

Buzz Fans –

Tiffany C. Lockhart spoke to Phillip for TVOvermind and wrote a small piece featuring the things he had to say about Major Crimes’ upcoming sixth season, his character Buzz Watson, and many other things.

I then asked Keene what fans can expect in the upcoming sixth season; the actor stated that he couldn’t reveal much other than “You will see a lot of dead people, that’s pretty much a given. [You will also see] some happy events.” Unfortunately, this is all he could disclose regarding the show. You would have to tune in to see what happens.

Zimbio: But for now, what’s in Buzz’s future?

PK: For so long, his driving force was figuring out who killed his father. Now that that’s been accomplished, I think he’s searching for purpose. Maybe now that he’s grown a little more and his mother’s fears have been delayed, I think you’ll see him pursuing more of the law enforcement aspect of the job. Maybe even volunteering to do some more dangerous things, I hope.
