Things Women Aren’t Supposed To Say
Video
Women who do say these things are often called bitches by other women and men.
Listen to me.
You don’t need to have had a fucked up childhood or some traumatic event happen to you in order to have depression/anxiety/panic attacks. You could have had a perfectly normal upbringing with loving friends and family. Mental illness does not discriminate; it can hit anyone at any time. Your feelings are valid. Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.
And if you AREN'T suffering from mental illness, please don't reinforce these ideas with your friends and family. Their mental health doesn't mean YOU fucked up. In fact, it's NOT ABOUT YOU.
Weigh In #2
Weigh In #2 HW: 200 lbs PW: 189.8 lbs CW: 191.6 lbs
Since Last Week: +1.8 lbs Total: -8.4 lbs
Yup, that’s a weight. It’s a weight that’s higher than last week. Whatever. It happens, especially after a five pound loss last week. I’ve also upped my workouts, which my scale recognizes in dropping body fat and rising muscle content.
Happy Scale tells me I’m at 190 even, which sounds about right. Might start using the Happy Scale averages for these weigh-ins, though!
Today’s Run (4/1/2015)
Oops, I lied. I didn’t have last period free today and I ran anyway. Threw on my softball clothes, went out for 35 minutes, then ran back in to teach circuits! I guess I just really wanted to get out there -- I haven’t since Sunday.
My legs were a bit crampy, but it was good to get them pumping. I also had to avoid gym classes, so that was a thing.
Distance: 2.60 miles Time: 35:00 Pace: 13:27 Ratio: 1/1 then 45/45 then 30/30 (thanks, cramps)
teaching is my purpose, 100%
Spring is the Worst, if You Let it Be
Spring is just one of the toughest seasons for me. Not only am I still teaching, I’m also coaching softball. The students - and I - are all ready for school to end, but comments are due and grades and APs and ARGH.
I think the worst thing is that coaching - which turns my 8-3 job into an 8-8 job - eliminates most of my opportunities to run. But I realized recently that’s just an excuse. My school has a track and a cross country course. I have lots of afternoon free periods during which I’m allowed to use those facilities. So now I have a new deal with myself:
Mondays are rest days. Period. Tuesday - Friday I will run IF I have last period free and we don’t have a game. Saturday and Sunday are my usual moderate and long runs.
To give an idea of how that works out, it gives me runs about three days during the work week and another two on weekends. Today is my first day on the plan!
Happy Scale
I’m so glad fitchris25 recommended the Happy Scale app this week. This has been one of those weeks when, in spite of doing everything right, the scale is staying right where it is. In my brain, I know the reasons: Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, a huge drop (nearly five lbs) last week, etc, etc, etc. But it’s still hard not to see a move further downward. By putting my weights into Happy Scale, I’m able to that progress really IS being made, and that feels great!
Official weigh in tomorrow!
APRIL ROLL CALL: REBLOG IF YOU’RE STILL AN ACTIVE HEALTHY/WEIGHT LOSS/SELF LOVE/ FITBLR BLOG!
Thanks ihavetoadmititsgettingbetter for reminding me! I did clean out (most of) my closet last week and this pair of cropped jeans is what I've decided on for the first challenge. At the moment - about 10 lbs into my weight loss -- they're up my hips but not close to zipping. I'll try again in 5 lbs!
2 scoops protein powder, 8 oz almond milk, ice, and a blender. Tastes like ice cream -- kind of a cake batter milkshake!
