So me and my friend very recently got into witch craft, and I was wondering if yiu had any pointers or suggestions to help us get started?
Hey! Welcome to the community. We have some generally asked questions in our FAQ, and you can also check out our beginner tag. My tip is to do what YOU want to do, and what feels right more over what someone thinks is right. Youâll come across that a bit in tumblrâs witch community.Â

đŹ âVeritaserumâ Tea â
inspired by jk rowlingâs â Veritaserum â, a potion-drink to encourage someone to tell the truth when you share the drink with them, or to inspire truth to come to you in your future
âIt is Veritaserumâa Truth Potion so powerful that three drops would have you spilling your innermost secrets for this entire class to hear.â
(obviously itâs not going to be that potent, but hereâs a tea for spilling tea)
đŹ recipe is for 1 cup of tea.
â heat cup of water
đŹ add 1.5 tsp dried rosemary needles
â steep for 5 minutes
đŹ strain rosemary needles out
â add the violet as a garnish.
đŹ if you are afraid of the truth but still wish to hear it, add honey to the tea so that the words will be sweetened.
**Find My Kind** Spell
Here is a simple spell I thought Iâd share for attracting like-minded people and luring towards yourself more genuine friends/friendships.
Quick Tip: A cup of Chamomile or Mint tea would be quite nice to start, finish or to drink throughout this spell, as chamomile is good for abundance and mint attracts prosperity.
Ingredients:
Basil  - crushed, powdered, plain, whatever!
Rose or Clear Quartz (alternative = silver coin)
Vanilla Essence or Oil
Lavender - Â sprigs or powdered, doesnât matter.
A Candle  - white is great. so is orange or brown.
A Pen  -  green, orange or red would be best.
An Envelope
A Piece of Paper
Method:
1. Keep the quartz in your possession throughout the spell - in a pocket or next to the candle is fine.
2. Dab the vanilla essence in the four corners of your piece of paper.
3. Draw 3 circles/suns on the piece of paper with your pen, interlocking with each other like in this picture:
â write your full name in the middle section outlined here in red. 4. If you want, you can write on the other side of the paper the qualities you want the people you attract to have. A similar sense of humour, loyalty, any particular appreciations/hobbies etc.
5. Fold up the piece of paper and put it in an envelope along with the basil and lavender.
6. Pass the envelope through the flame of the candle as many times as you wish (if in a circular manner, aim it to be clockwise) and repeat this mantra:
I call upon my people Listen to my voice The blood that runs through all our veins Will now give us no choice
Now is the time For us to be bound To attract like to like and within each other Our light shall be found
I call my kin Come to my side Let our minds intermingle Let our lives intertwine
â Repeat the last phrase as much as you like. 3 or 9 times would work quite well, but itâs up to you.
7. You may decide to burn the envelope - if this is what you choose, then wrap the ashes in a lettuce leaf and bury it in a flourishing garden or at the base of a big, old tree. If you do not want to burn the envelope, kiss it and bury it in your garden, close to your front door or at the roots of a large tree.
8. Keep the quartz on or around you when going to meet new people, or if youâre feeling in the mood to meet new people. If you donât want to wear it on your person then keeping it in the bedroom or near the phone or computer should be fine as well.
Good times to perform this spell: Waxing Moon or Midday

A Spell For Protection While Coming Out As Trans
I wrote this spell in preparation for a conversation about my gender and being trans with my parents. Weâve had a very bad relationship in the past due to this, and other issues, and I was expecting the talk to go very poorly for me.Â
This spell is for protecting you when coming out as trans or discussing your gender with people you fear will be less than accepting of you.
Materials:
small bottle or jar
salt, for protection
sugar, to sweeten the relationship
herb(s) representing the person(s) you want to come out to
herb(s) representing yourself and how you want to be seen
optional - loose glitter in a reassuring color
Method:
Select and cleanse your bottle. I recommend using one small enough to fit in your pocket, so that it can be near at hand.Â
Mix together the salt, sugar, and glitter and pour it into the bottle, filling it about half-way.Â
Add herbs that you associate with the person(s) you will be talking to; I used rosemary, since there is a huge rosemary bush outside my parentsâ house, and I associate the smell with my childhood there.Â
Add herb(s) you associate with yourself; I chose mint and star jasmine. If possible, herbs that come from a place you associate with comfort and protection are preferred.Â
Seal your bottle however you see fit; if you would like to add a message, sigil or incantation, now is the time. I chose to wrap my bottle up with a bandana my partner had been wearing the day before.
When the time comes for the conversation, bring the bottle with you in your pocket. If you feel unsure or scared or just need a bit of reassurance, slip your hand into your pocket and hold the bottle tightly.
Good luck, and be safe.

Baby Witch Tips
Here are some tips that I would have found helpful as a baby witch:
-All magic is real magic
-You disagree with an ingredient in a spell? Substitute it!
-You disagree with anything? Do what is right for you.
-Donât be afraid of your first ritual!
-Create a witchy planner in your grimoire!
-START a grimoire!
-Brush up on your vocab, my dear.
-Literally anything can be used in your craft.
-Trust me, youâll still be interested in this stuff a year later.Â
-You donât have to be Wiccan. Trust me, your opinions on religion will change with time.
-Look a little bit at your current religion (or lack therof) and see how you can incorporate your craft into it.
-Emoji spells shouldnât be used for everything, but work great with spells involving technology!
-You donât have to specialize in anything witchy.
-Take a break from witchcraft when you need it.
-You WILL accumulate stuff over time. A year ago, I had nothing but a string tied to a ring for a pendulum, now I have twenty crystals, plants, two tarot decks, an astrology hand, a travel altar, a grimoire, and more. Donât worry about having no supplies. It will come.
-Remember when  you were drawn to witchcraft? Trust me, you were for a reason.
-Discreet and subtle witchcraft is just as good as intense rituals.
-Your craft doesnât need any fancy supplies to be valid.
-Donât do anything that makes you uncomfortable.
-Incorporate everything into your craft!
-Tell a friend- they may be interested, too.
-Stick with witching, and donât give up.
-Study!
And overall, your craft is yours, and nobody can change that.

After many requests, Iâve made a rebloggable version of my âWeather Magicâ page. Here you will find heaps of resources to help you with weather/storm craft. If youâve read some of my previous posts about weather magic you will notice some similarities - that is because this is a collection of every weather witching post that Iâve ever posted compiled into handy resources post.
Weather Magic
The term âweather magicâ or âweather witchingâ has been used to mean anything from divination and forecasting of weather to actual control and manipulation of the weather itself. From calling up treacherous storms to destroy anotherâs crops or providing fair winds for those at sea, witches (and even those who do not consider themselves to be such) have always been involved with weather magic. When you consider that most forms of magic are based around an agricultural past, the ability to affect and predict the weather was considered an invaluable skill. After all, if your familyâs livelihood depended on the success of your crops (or the ability to find water as it did in my familyâs case), weather magic would be an extremely handy thing to know.
Why the url Storm Born Witch?
I am quite fortunate, as the gift for weather related magic comes easily to my family. For generations, the men in my family have been dowsers or water diviners. However, it wasnât until after I displayed an aptitude to weather related magic that I was told about my familyâs history with it. My grandfather was the last water diviner in the family and he died when I was very young so I was never taught how to divine for water. My grandmother was the one to teach me what little she knew about weather magic - the rest either occurred naturally or I picked up along the way.
Calling Up A Wind - Whistling Up A Wind
This is the most common form of weather magic and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Depending on the pitch and tone of the whistle a witch can create a gentle breeze or a sharp gust of wind. Traditionally, if the skill of whistling up a wind does not come naturally to you the option of making a âwind whistleâ out of willow or alder wood is available.
Here in Australia, whistling up a wind is probably the most common form of magic I do. I honestly do not go a day without whistling up a cool breeze. Itâs bloody hot here and sometimes a cool breeze is just what you need.

Storm Casting
Storm casting is the art of creating storms. There are many different methods to creating storms and bringing rain. The method used by my family is to fill a jug with water and while sitting outside (or facing a window) pour the water into a basin or bowl. Dip the tip of your pointer finger into the water and slowly make five clockwise circles in the water (if you have a pendant necklace this can be used instead - just above the water in the bowl). As you are making the circles call the wind to bring in a storm by blowing (or whistling a continuous low note - the sound of wind over the mouth of a glass bottle) over the water in the basin.

My Method of Calling Storms by stormbornwitchâ
Traditional Methods of Calling Storms by stormbornwitchâ
Ways to Stop a Storm (Dispersing, Binding & Preventing)
There are multiple ways to stop a storm. The most common are dispersing or binding storms. However there are also ways to prevent storms from coming by directing them away from where you are. This is great if youâre holding an event outside and you need good weather.
Dispersing
This method involves spreading the storm out over a large area thereby minimising its effects. You can disperse a storm by calling winds to blow it away (or in a certain direction) or if you favour using weather maps you can draw the low pressure system moving away and gradually dissipating.
Binding (Storm Catching)
This method is also called âstorm catchingâ and involves catching a storm and binding it within an object (usually a bottle or knots) so it can be released gradually at a later date by pulling out the cork or undoing the braid/knots.
Resources for Binding Storms
How to bind a storm in your hair by stormbornwitchâ
How to bind the wind in rope by ioqayinâ
Storm catching or âreeling in a stormâ is even more difficult than storm casting so itâs always wise to think before you cast. Too much energy put into a storm and it will go on for weeks (and cause some flooding - basement incident) or it will be extremely violent and knock down power lines and tree branches. Too little energy and all you will get is a 5 minute shower of rain.
Other ways to stop a storm (Cutting a Storm) by witchuptheroadâ
Preventing a Storm (Weather Maps)
However, if you wish to prevent a storm from forming, youâre going to have to pull out the weather maps. To make a weather map all you need to do is to print out a map of your local area or the area youâre trying to keep a storm away from.
Just use google maps and donât make the area too big or you might seriously strain yourself magically. Then laminate the map - now you have your own âwhiteboardâ to draw weather symbols on to generate certain types of localised weather.
To practice this kind of magic you really do need to know how weather systems work and how theyâre likely to move; knowing a little bit about meteorology goes a long way.
Once youâre ready, find out what the weather is predicted to be and draw it on your map. Now draw the high/low pressure systems moving so that the area youâre trying to protect doesnât get rain. This method can also be used to bring rain to a certain area.
