Today I just can’t stop thinking of that scene in “Papillon” when Papillon (Steve McQueen) first escapes from prison and is rescued by a tribe of natives. For the first time in years Papillon, a person innocent jailed for years, receives love and care. I think it’s such an aptly portrait of humans embracing the beauty of nature, and who takes care of both the earth and each other, despite the lack of modern “luxury” and “comfort”. The non-verbal love scenes between Papillon and the nameless indian girl (Ratna Assan) are also so beautiful it hurts.

After the Korean War, six Americans defected to North Korea. Four of the former soldiers (Larry Allen Abshier, James Joseph Dresnok, Charles Robert Jenkins, and Jerry Wayne Parrish) went on to become actors in North Korea and starred in a propaganda film, Unsung Heroes, playing the evil Americans.
