Studio Ghibli has unveiled the first images from its brand-new original short film, Night in the Valley of Witches (魔女の谷の夜), Co-directed by Goro Miyazaki and Akihiko Yamashita. The film officially premiered on July 8, 2026, at Cinema Orion inside Ghibli's Grand Warehouse at Ghibli Park in Aichi, Japan. Set in the park's enchanting Valley of Witches, it is the very first original animated short created exclusively for Ghibli Park, allowing visitors to experience a new story inspired by one of the park's most magical areas. The short is available only to guests with admission to Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, making it a unique and exclusive Studio Ghibli experience for fans visiting Japan.

Hayao Miyazaki Self portrait (1994)

Things aren’t going as planned in this light-hearted Hayao Miyazaki watercolour sketch depicting his time working with Ghibli staff on Isao Takahata’s 1994 film Pom Poko. Miyazaki who was credited planning and executive producer roles comically portrays himself as the demanding taskmaster shown motivating animation staff drawn as Tanuki. Penned personally by Miyazaki this sketch featured in the Pom Poko official cinema program released with the film. (a big Thank You to Rena for translation)

Went to see the Princess Mononoke remaster in the cinema last night (It’s in UK cinemas now) and it was AMAZING!!! there was previously about 3 shots in the original film that were blurry or with quality dip because of camera animation effects tech at the the time that have been completely restored and are as sharp and perfect looking as the rest of the film! The sound mix was absolutely unreal too! Can’t wait til this is released on physical but I’d recommend going to the cinema now if you’re in the UK! unmissable!
