I might be completely understanding this wrong, but I just finished watching a fatal frame 1 playthrough and is it just me or is Mafuyu's decision to stay with Kirie at the end kind of selfish in a way? While I feel horrid for Kirie, that poor girl did nothing to deserve what happened to her and to be the one to fulfil the duty of Shrine Maiden, but even if Mafuyu felt bad for her and he happened to look like her dead lover he literally had a sister who did EVERYTHING to come find him??

Look at Miku, the girls as skinny as a twig and scared as hell the entire time she's wandering around Himuro mansion getting attacked and beat up by ghosts just to find her brother! She did the impossible and yet when it was time to leave, after all of that effort and SAVING HIS LIFE, he decided to stay with the ghost of a girl he, what, felt bad for? Who originally had tried to kill him - though, she wasn't exactly herself. I don't know, if I were Miku I'd resent my brother for the rest of my life. Part of me IS glad that Kirie has company for the rest of eternity, keeping the Hell Gate closed to protect the world, but Mafuyu practically threw everything back in Miku's face - "ohhhh this is where I'm meant to be!".

REALEST. I WAS SO ANGRY AT HIM. I feel so bad for Kirie too but like. idc if you're a reincarnation, you called for your sister and she dragged her scared ass in an abandoned mansion to find YOU. Kirie said that seeing you for 0,5 seconds made her happy, now go home to your current live idiot !!
