My dearest Elijah, I’m not good at these long sappy posts or really, strangely, expressing myself when not in song lyrics, but I’ll do my best.
I knew from the moment I saw you, standing alone on your first day, putting books into your locker, that id be by your side forever. I heard so much. Was told so much about you, about the Shelbys and I never liked listening. You were young, you were a kid, just trying on the world for size. I’d been there. It was scary, it was uncomfortable, and I couldn’t imagine what it was like for you, someone that had his fathers last name and “reputation” on your shoulders. Lots of people told me to stay away.
I didn’t listen. Clearly. I saw your pretty eyes and I knew you weren’t like what they were saying. I had to say hi, my heart compelled me. I needed you to know that the world, while cruel and cold on most occasions, wasnt always so. I needed you to be welcomed. I needed to welcome you. So I said hi, much to the dismay of my friends. And I’m so glad I did, None of them are here or my friends anymore, but you…you’re my world.
I married you today. My husband, my Elijah. I’ve waited so long for this day and I knew it would come when we were both ready and the world would give us our sign. I had no doubts. No worries. No fears.
I will be by your side forever. Till death and beyond. My soul, my heart, my husband. I’ll never get tired of that.
