i just had the biggest brain twst animatic idea.

go listen to the song All I Wanted by Paramore. peak song.

the animatic opens to the light music club playing, lilia singing while they play the bass. there is notably little detail to cater or kalim because lilia is In The Zone.

when the beat drops, it abruptly changes to lilia immediately post-war, holding malleus' egg, pacing in their cottage while staring at it, falling asleep with it in their arms, then staring out the window as dawn rises and they reminisce while the focus shifts from them to the egg.

for the chorus, it switches back to current lilia as shadows of maleanor and raverne move around them.

for verse three, it starts with lilia falling asleep à la book 7, and once the lyrics start it shows their dream—standing at attention with mal and raverne in front of the rest of the fae soldiers. "and maybe then, we'd remember to slow down" is mal and lilia trying to convince raverne against trying to negotiate with the humans, and "at all of our favorite parts" is his arm slipping from their hands.

the first "all i wanted was you" (aka the best part of the song, as everyone can agree) is current lilia being embraced by the now-fully-formed "ghosts" of malleus' parents, and then at the second (and for the rest of them) it shows the life they could've lived if not for their deaths. the last 30 seconds is lilia cupping malleus and silver's faces, smiling up at them.

I think Silver became one of my favorite characters now, and seeing him smile at the end was just like :’)))))))

Can we talk about how he gets his name changed, it is a parallel on how trans people feel abt changing their legal name??? I know he isn’t trans but it still felt too relatable. Seeing someone recognizing your true name is such a happy experience. Happy to know Silver is now a Vanrouge!
