Day 206/365 of listing something good I saw today:
Was at the game store today, eavesdropped a conversation between a dad and his child, evidently looking at the life-sized terminator statue in the other room.
"It's a Terminator. It terminates."
"What does it do?"
"It was sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor."
"Why?"
"Because in the future her son would become a hero who starts a rebellion against the robots. The robots send the terminator to kill her before she can give birth to her son so the rebellion won't happen."
"Does it succeed? Does it kill her?"
"No."
"Why not? D:<"
It's wild coming from a household where people would go "well we're not going to cancel everything and ruin everybody's day just because you're feeling uncomfy" when all you wanted was to be allowed to go lie down for a minute because you're sick, to living around people who'll go "okay let's wrap shit up and go home, you're sick" when you were still pretty sure you can manage if you just go lie down.
Also did y'all know that playing up your symptoms for pity and attention is a completely different thing from just not going out of your way to hide your symptoms. Like apparently those are two different subjects. It's not manipulative to be visibly unwell when you're visibly unwell.

This insanely handsome old vintage sports car, kept as good as new, beautiful deep wine/plum purple metallic paint job with completely white old school flame pattern at the front, with a matching colour camper in tow. Never in my life have I thought I'd see a racing flame car decoration that manages to make it look classy.

This thing about old historical novel adaptations - especially the adaptations that I've seen of Jane Austen books and stuff like that - where people don't really talk the way that people speak in real life, but in the distinct writing style of the original books, one thing I've noticed is that they'll generally either have the characters eloquently speak that way naturally, or then re-wording the dialogue into something that feels more like how real people talk.
I think it'd be interesting to see something where the characters don't just speak like that as easily as they breathe, but still go out of their way to do so. I know it'd be wildly hard to pull that off in a way where it feels like the characters have some occasional difficulties expressing themselves as eloquently as they are clearly expected to, instead of just being a result of poor directing where the actors are struggling with clunky dialogue that should've been worked through more.
It'd just be interesting to see someone in regency era clothing angrily yelling some shit like "well pardon me for failing to live up to the standards of your righteous grief!" while being so obviously, genuinely mad that they're stammering.
Does it count as missing someone if you didn't really even know someone that well, but now wish that you could have?

My boyfriend's grandpa was a cool guy. He always had some sort of a story about everything. He'd never run out of things to talk about but he ran out of time to tell them. I never knew that he used to paint before after his death when I first found out that the gorgeous painting in the writing room in their home was something he painted as a teenager.
Sphynx cats are so beautiful and absurd little creatures, I can't imagine I could ever take life seriously again if I had some. Like when they do the cat paw slap thing at each other, there's no fur to muffle the sound so it sounds just like human hands clapping.
Imagine being sound asleep at 3 am and suddenly wake up to the sounds of applause, and you just know that there's fucking goblin combat going on somewhere in the house.

One of our neighbours has a dog with the smallest, tightest-folding ears I've ever seen, that touch each other on top of her(?) head, giving the impression of wearing a hat, like a newsboy cap.
like sweetie why are you shaped like that.
Day 204/365 of listing something good I saw today:
Saw this same dog today, this time getting a better look up close. Turns out that the ears are even smaller and more tight-folding than I had previously been able to comprehend. They're just little triangular flaps covering the ear holes. They're not cropped, just very minimalist.
You ever think about how often you hear someone say "there's no such thing as natural talent! Anyone can be taught" and you want to believe that they mean "with the right method and accommodations, anyone can be taught this", but time and time again you learn that they meant "I don't believe in learning disabilities or accommodations, anyone whom I can't teach simply doesn't want to learn."
Every single goddamn dickhead on the mtg app is a living proof against eugenics. If being stupid and ugly was an immediately hereditary trait, none of these peoples' parents would've ever gotten laid.
