Joe Hills says "this is fine" with the same sense of desperation that he says "next problem". Joel SmallishBeans says "this is fine" with a delighted mania that assures you all is not fine.

And yet from each speaker, I get a different longing. Joe is pleading with the universe for something, just something, to be fine, to let him weather the next fall into a lava pit with all of iJevin's diamonds. And yet it is tempered with the acceptance that nothing will be fine, but he'll endure, even so. Joel is delighted in the falsehood, playing happily in the space of being fine and normal and brightly rainbow coloured. Joel is longing to travel all the way to the opposite of fine in his acting.

I don't think Joe Hills would be so bold as to even quantify a normal beyond a statistical distribution determined by a sample data. I definitely don't think he'd claim to be it. But this is fine, they both say, like the meme of the burning room. I think Joe is the figure and Joel is the flame. This is fine

You know how poisonous animals are often brightly colored in order to warn predators that they are dangerous, and shouldn't be messed with, or else the interceding creature might suffer some consequence, most likely sickness but possibly death?
