Snowbody Loves Me
1964
A rather frozen Jerry rolls up to a cheese shop guarded by Tom; after he locks Tom out and thaws out, he carves himself a little Swiss village in a giant wheel of cheese.
I love Chuck Jones’ work here. Ever since I saw this as a kid I always wanted a little home made of cheese. Now that I’m older I have an even greater appreciation for the art design. Finding this cartoon in the archives activated a big nostalgia moment for me and I’ve been thinking about where and who I was when I saw this for the first time. Crazy how many memories can resurface just by watching an old show.
Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Walt Disney first tried to adapt Alice into a feature-length animated film in the 1930s, but were scrapped in favor of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). However, it was eventually revived the idea in the 1940s. The film was originally intended to be a live-action/animated film, but Disney decided it would be a fully animated film.
