A half-abandoned shopping mall with only one store open

"This place used to be good," she said, her eyes darting about the open space with a frown, like she could see the ghosts of her childhood in the bones of the shuttered shops. To the right used to be the Limited Too that her mom used to drag her in to shove clothes into her hands and clap over every outfit she tried on as a gangly ten year old. The memory rose up unbidden and sits warm in her chest. For a second, she could swear she felt a pulse in her neck, the beat of her heart. "Come on, it's over here," she gestured for them to follow her, stuffing her hands into the kangaroo pocket of her sweatshirt and exhaling a breath she didn't need, but that fogged the air all the same. The shop itself looked closed, shuttered the same as everything else, but the front is easily dispelled as she tugged at the gate. It shivered and then gave way to a shop that was definitely not the empty white shelved store. "Hello?" She called out as they stepped into the low light of the store, it was lined with various old tomes, ingredients, talismans.

Night came faster than it should. The day slunk away like a thief, the sun hardly seen all day behind the cloud cover and giving way to cool night. That, at least, was a blessing. She'd made it to her family's tomb, crawled in after fiddling with the lock for far too long, her breathing heavy, head swimming and vision blurry. Her side ached, and she felt so hot which she supposed was caused by whatever bit of poison managed to wheedle itself through her system. She'd called in a favor from the Folk for a remedy but it took a long time and felt almost as bad as the burning in her veins. Living was worth it, she supposed as she laid on the cool stone, arms outstretched and for once bare. If she could have managed it she would've shed her jeans too, but that was too much work. The creak of the door startled her mostly because she had locked it. Val didn't say anything, just stared down at her with some inscrutable look (or maybe that was the blurry vision again) and sighed like he had a headache. Silence stretched and he scooped her up like she weighed nothing, on any good day she would've pushed out of his arms, but moving at all was a beyond her.

"Thanks, Valefar," she said, her voice cracking as he moved and her jaw clenched in pain.

What headcanons/theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character?

Oh, she does lend herself a lot to fandom theories. I'm sure someone will take her legend creation to the far reaches any have her run the Underground in full. I think that would probably be a favorite.

What is the wildest crackship you can imagine for your character, whether in-universe or in crossover?

Server crossover time — there are just…so many options for this one because she is such a difficult character to put into a relationship that isn’t, you know, nebulous at best and seven years in the works.

But we are going with Lucy and Hale. He grates at her in a way that not everyone does, not even like she thinks about him all the time but if she sees him she’s like ugh…my former co-parent (you know she’s got that full custody now).

Not to mention she scares the bejeezus out of him so!

Honorable mention to Lucy and Han who almost won this one for a laundry list of obvious reasons and none of them having to do with their own personal beef.

Are there any tropes fandom would put upon your character, for better or for worse?

Anti-hero. I just know she’s getting cast in that role because a major flaw of hers is that she really has so little remorse for hard choices she makes because she’s created her own system where if it gets to the point where she’s reaching for the gun, so to speak, she’s determined she’s exhausted all other possibilities (this isn’t always true! But to her it is!). She’s definitely not out for herself and always self interested but people will probably read that when they see her avoid traditional heroics in favor of tricks and running and the occasional bribe.
