Welcome to Haymans!
Haymans Hall was joined to SCAD in 2013 and is home to the university’s illustration program. Since 1853, buildings on this site — a free school, a health center, and an orphanage — have served the Savannah community. Built in 1932, the three-story building of masonry construction is located at 23 E. Charlton St. near Madison Square and adjacent to Poetter Hall. It is dedicated to longtime SCAD illustration professor and distinguished artist Traci Haymans, who, in her two decades at SCAD, inspired countless colleagues and students with her unrivaled intelligence, caring spirit, joyful demeanor, and singular accomplishments. Haymans Hall honors and advances the educational, nurturing character of this place in Savannah’s history. The building houses classrooms, computer labs and offices for the illustration department.
