zxyn--malik:

“You don’t have to do anything..”

“Alright. Then I guess we can be done here.”

zxyn--malik:

“I’m not trying to make you feel guilty. I’m just annoyed.”

“Well, I’m sorry that you’re annoyed. I don’t know what you want me to do.”

zxyn--malik:

“I know, but I wasn’t showing up. Anything could have been happening, Gigi. Anything.”

“Stop trying to make me feel guilty. I know something could have happened. I know.” She whispers, feeling her eyes well up with tears.

zxyn--malik:

“It’s fine, I just honestly wish you would have checked your phone. I was kind of stuck feeling guilty and with no idea what to do.”

“It’s not like I just ignored my phone on purpose, though. You know how those events go. Someone else always takes control of them and I had no choice.”

zxyn--malik:

“You seemed pretty mad at me.” He heads into the bathroom and finishes getting ready for bed.

“I’m sorry.” Gigi whispers, feeling incredibly guilty now. She doesn’t know if she should go into the room behind him so she just lingers in the hallway.

zxyn--malik:

“So there’s no point in being mad at me,” Zayn shrugs and walks past her into their bedroom.

“I’m not mad at you, Zayn. I wasn’t ever mad. I was confused and then once I found out, I was just disappointed.”

zxyn--malik:

“Well, I’m sorry. I wish I could have made it, I wanted to be there for you. I just had a little problem.”

“I know you did. I do know that you wouldn’t have just missed it for nothing.” Gigi says quietly, looking down at the floor for a second.

zxyn--malik:

“It’s not like I can change anything, Gigi. I’m sorry that I wasn’t there, but our kids didn’t have anyone. I couldn’t just bring them with me..”

“It’s fine. I get it.” Gigi says softly with a little shrug. “I obviously understand that you did what you could. I’m just sad that you weren’t there, that’s all.”

zxyn--malik:

“Well then why did you get all sassy when I said I couldn’t make it because of them? You kind of acted like I should have been there anywhere and there was absolutely no way I could have. I did everything I could, called anyone I could think of. It’s not my fault.”

“Alright. You did what you could. Whatever. There’s no point in us having this conversation because it’s literally going to get us nowhere. I’ll just get over it cause that seems to be the only thing I can do.”

zxyn--malik:

“I literally meant I wasn’t going to come to tonight because we didn’t have a sitter. The way you were talking seemed like you expected me to be there no matter what. News flash, our children need someone with them.”

Gigi had been trying to remain at least mostly calm, but hearing that choice of words from him set something off in her. “News flash? Are you kidding me? Of course I know that our children need someone with them, don’t be ridiculous.”

zxyn--malik:

“I was a little preoccupied trying to figure everything else out. I wasn’t going to come? What the hell are you talking about? How many times do I have to tell you that I would have loved to be there before you believe me?” 

“I understand that, but you still should have gotten some more information,” she shrugs. “Did you not just say that you weren’t going to come if we didn’t get a sitter?” Gigi asks, running a hand through her hair.

zxyn--malik:

“Well, she never called and said she had other plans. I would have called her earlier, but I was in a rush to get ready. This isn’t my fault. I wasn’t going to go with you when we didn’t have a sitter.”

“What kind of other plans? You should have asked more questions. Cancelling something she had a commitment to do because she’d rather go get drunk with her friends is ridiculous. Alright, you’re right. You weren’t going to come in the first place so I guess it doesn’t really matter that you didn’t.” She rolls her eyes.

zxyn--malik:

“So, you wanted me to just leave the kids home alone? Gigi, it’s not my fault. I would have loved to be there tonight, but it’s kind of hard when you don’t have a babysitter!”

“That’s not what I said. I’m saying that we should have made sure the sitter was going to be there for the time that I had to leave. So that the whole thing wouldn’t have gotten screwed up at the last second.”

“Well, when an hour had passed you could have checked. Anything could have happened. You should at least have someone check your phone if you can’t..”

Hearing that made Gigi feel like a huge jerk at first because she probably should have called. After a second, though, she’s offended that it seems like he’s putting this all on her. “And this could have been resolved if you would have just come with me like you were supposed to.”

“I kind of wish someone would have checked their phone. You didn’t even think to ask someone to call?”

“I didn’t think to ask someone to call cause I thought you were just going to be late. I never imagined our babysitter would cancel at the last second and that you wouldn’t come.”
