It’s more than you think, believe me. Growing up all I had was my…adoptive parents, at least in our family. I think I’m just having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that this is all real, you know? You all have this history, and I’m like the odd one out trying to play catch up. I keep thinking I’m somehow going to fall short of expectation or something.

Something to keep in mind, none of us have expectations for you. We all come from different backgrounds that affects us in it’s own ways, and it’s easier to just accept our siblings who they are. You’re not letting anyone down, and we gain an another sibling.

It’s all harder for me than I want to admit to, if I’m being honest. I’m…sixteen years younger than my entire family, but everyone including my mother looks like they’re my age. I know she’s happy that I’m here, but it’s kinda hard not feeling like the odd one out in all of this, you know?

I can imagine what it feels like and why it would be a lot. But you’re not alone, not in the slightest. You have the rest of us and at the bare minimum you have me and I will fight everyone else.

I keep waiting for someone to jump out and scream that I’m being punked. Even though I’ve seen Monica drink blood and know Elena is a vampire, I feel like I’m losing it sometimes.

Yeah that was honestly the hardest thing to deal with if we’re being honest. Fr the first few years if I thought about it I was tempted to make a run for it. But now it honestly doesn’t even click for me because it’s just my life now.”

How did you deal with it? At first, I mean. That actually does make it a little easier, though, honestly.

Honestly? Not well. A lot of alcohol was involved but it got easier when I realized how much I needed my family. But everyone handles it differently.

It’s all been a lot to adjust to. I mean, I’m glad I found our mom and everything, but this…is all more than I expected, you know? Vampires and some curse separating everyone, it’s like something out of a book.

It does feel like it’s too much to be true. Especially when you toss in all of the supernatural stuff on top of it all. Not that it makes it any easier to handle but I am happy you’re here.

I can understand why. It’s not like this town is close to normal, much less our family.

It feels like the last few months have dragged by

“At least my apartment is finally together.”

“The questions won’t stop if they start. I’ve got more of them than I know what to do with.”

“Well then we can grab some food while you start?” She offered

“I’m really bad at talking, and honestly…most of my questions are about the family, so…whatever you want to talk about.”

“You can absolutely ask me about the family though. I can’t blame you for having questions.”

“I would really like that.”

“I’d really love that too.”

“Only with Monica, she’s taken pity on me. I don’t really know anyone else very well. Family is a new thing for me.”

“You’re welcome to spend free time with me. I’d like to spend more time with you.”

“If either of us is a black sheep, I think it’s probably me. I’m the one that randomly showed up like, twenty years late to the party.”

“Yet you fit in better than I ever did.”

I am, actually. I  mean I’m still wrapping my mind around this whole family thing so it’s a little weird, but I’m excited for her just the same.

“Yeah I get that. Hell coming back I’m still adjusting to having a family again but that might be because I feel like the black sheep of the family.”

Gonna be an aunt…that’s going to take some getting used to.

“I’ve had worse. This place is just…judgmental. And really small. I’ve never really gotten used to it.”

“Well I can point you to some people that aren’t as judgemental.”

“This town is awful, but also something special.”
