skeetersrita:
the implication of his words brought a smirk to her features, eyes sparkling at the mere thought of how much chaos she could create. most people would hate to have a reputation similar to hers – a woman whose words were powerful enough to destroy friendships and relationships, whose words could make or break careers. however, it was what she had always wanted, what she would always want – to be feared because her quill was mightier than any wand or unforgivable curse. “you more than anyone should know that a happy rita skeeter is just as dangerous as a discontent one”, she whispered, licking her lips as her silhouette leaned closer to him. glancing around, rita felt the eyes on them – the woman could almost hear the engines inside their dull minds trying to understand what the pair had and what they were doing. truth be told, not even the two most brilliant minds in the establishment could figure that out – let alone a bunch of nobodies. gilderoy and rita were a mess impossible to untangle – but merlin, how fun was it to get trapped in it.
glancing up at him, the blonde let out a chuckle. she loved toying with him. it was something terrible to say, but she did. rita loved the fact she could get the almighty gilderoy lockhart in a mess of lust, desire and confusion – all wrapped up in a handsome package. “your thank you card did get lost in the mail for a while. but it was hard to ignore the extravaganza of chocolates and roses”, the woman teased, leaning away from him as slender fingers reached out to her drink. emerald eyes avoided his figure for a second, heartbeats blasting in her ears – almost as if begging her not to ignore how much she wanted him. “i loved the flowers. they had a particularly interesting color though, i have to say. i was intrigued – which you know is incredibly rare so i think i owe you a proper thank you”, rita added, gaze focusing on him as white teeth brushed against her bottom lip.
the smirk that graces her perfect lips sending him soaring through time, back to the days where he roamed the hogwarts corridors, robed in blue & bronze. back then, he was hardly a blip on her radar, just an avid admirer three years her junior who knew, even then, that rita skeeter would go on to do great things. in the back of his pubescent mind, everything he did in his younger years was to earn the older girl’s attention; from starting the first ever hogwarts chronicle, to trying out for the ravenclaw quidditch team. no matter how outrageous a spectacle he caused, he never managed to become her equal ––– until the release of his first book, that is. suddenly, gilderoy lockhart’s chiseled face was on every news stand, & no one wanted a piece of the wizarding world’s hottest new author like rita skeeter. that fateful spring day, when they came face to face for the first time, he was certain the magnificent woman he’d built up in his head would surely disappoint. he was wrong.
her words, littered with subtle innuendo, unleash a montage of sordid memories through his vibrant mind. “how could i forget?” he muses, the box in his chest beating like a steel drum. a happy rita was dangerous, all right. he still has scratch marks that prove just how lethal she could be. she rose hell with a glittering smile, leaving her acid green `mark in the wake of bar napkins, of parchment, of flesh. she had him under her spell long before the first coo of his name. “i thought you might appreciate them.” his fingers wrap around the frosted glass of his drink, the warmth of his skin making condensation drip down the sides. he’s tempted to boast about all the hard work that went into the roses, but decides it’s best left to the imagination. there was nothing romantic about hours of mumbled curses as the petals turned every shade of the rainbow but gold. “now that is something i’d love to hear about in vidid detail. tell me, rita, how exactly do you plan on thanking me?”
