Edgar had been surprised when Sirius had invited him out to lunch. It was not that the young Gryffindor has ever been unfriendly, but from what Edgar had seen, he could be a bit aloof to those who were not already in his immediate group of friends. Still, it was a pleasant surprise and one Edgar readily agreed to.
In truth, Edgar had a lot of admiration for the former Black heir. The man was of course not without his faultsāheadstrong and impulsiveāfrom what Edgar had heard, but he had a morality that Edgar was quietly in awe of. Edgar knew that people considered him a moral person: an upstanding citizen, an advocate for justice. But Edgar also knew that he was a product of how he was raised. Themes of morality, equality, and justice had been deeply entwined into nearly every lesson his parents had taught their children. Ultimately, Edgar was good, at least in their perspective of it, because he was raised to be good. Sirius was good because⦠Well, that was a because Edgar didnāt quite yet understand, but he wanted to. Wanted to support Sirius for defying the odds, and managing to escape such a poisonous environment without becoming venomous himself.
He hadnāt heard of the restaurant Sirius had suggested, but the instructions he was given to find it were manageable enough and he made it there just a few minutes after they had agreed to meet. His lateness due more in fact from difficulties at the hospital than actual finding the place. āYeah, it wasnāt bad. Sorry about being late, some wizards never learn that fire crabs should be left alone.ā He says with an amused smile as he slips in the seat across from Sirius. He thumbs through the menu idly, āAnything youād recommend from here?ā
The tardiness was hardly anything to blink at, and Sirius waved the apology away.Ā āDonāt worry about it, mate. Happens to the best of us.ā He was sure that heād made a healer or two late for some engagementĀ with how often he managed to get himself all roughed up, usually for some rather pathetic reasons too. The Marauders, especiallyĀ during school, werenāt known for being particularly careful.Ā
Sirius hummed and glanced over the menu as well, unsure about whether or not he wanted to mix it up. In the end he dropped it onto the table, deciding to stick to his usual.Ā āIāll be getting the beef roast. Itās a dream.ā He offers a casual grin as he leans back into his chair.Ā āSo, whatās the great Edgar Bones been up to recently?āĀ
Parks & Recs meme, prt. 2 !

ā One time my refrigerator stopped working. I didnāt know what to do. I just moved! ā ā TREAT YOURSELF! ā ā This is the hardest Iāve worked on anything since⦠Wow. Iāve never worked hard on anything. What a cool life! ā ā Your boobs are dead! ā ā [name], ask me if Iām sad. ā ā Sometimes you gotta work a little, so you can ball a lot. ā ā I have never taken the high road, but I tell other people to ācause then thereās more road for me on the low road. ā ā Oh my god, what have I done? Like, to humanity! ā ā God, you donāt deserve the internet! ā
Donna Meagle.
ā Treat. Yo. Self! ā ā Is there some kind of medication that you maybe need a lot of, and have taken none of or a little too much of? ā ā You best watch yourself. ā ā If you donāt like how I tweet, donāt follow me. ā ā Do I look like I drink water? ā ā Iām chilling. ā ā Yes, I am a hunter. And itās you-season. ā ā Come on now, you know I donāt give a fuck. ā ā You donāt watch Game of Thrones? Have you seen those Dothraki dudes? They can get it! ā
Chris Traeger.
ā You did a great job, Superstar! ā ā I believe youāre capable of much more. ā ā I am 100% certain that I am 0% sure of what Iām going to do. ā ā Your inbox is literally filled with penises. ā ā Youāre literally the meanest person Iāve ever met. ā ā I have literally a 1,000 questions. ā ā It literally broke my heart. ā ā If I keep my body moving and my mind occupied at all times, I will avoid falling into a bottomless pit of despair. ā ā Iām so happy! ā
Ann Perkins.
ā Jogging is the worst. I mean, I know it keeps you healthy, but God, At what cost? ā ā I donāt know, Iām weird with kids. ā ā Iām dating myself right now. ā ā She/he has no flaws! There was one time I thought she/he farted. But it was me. ā ā Oh my God, are you serious? ā
Garry Gergich.
ā Iā no one ever lets me talk this long. I just got lost. ā ā That was really something! ā ā What? ā¦.. I didnāt know I was adopted. ā ā Do you need help with anything? ā ā My birthday is February 29th! ā ā Comic Sans always screams fun. ā
dromvda:
āIām surprised you bothered to keep up with my wedding. Unfortunately, I do believe mother scratched your name off the invitation list. I wouldnāt bother waiting for one to show up.ā Why couldnāt he simply be ignorant to what was going on in her life? No matter how much she tried to forget Sirius, no matter how hard she tried pushing him out of her life, she could not forget the little boy she grew up with. He betrayed their entire family, but Andromeda was the one who had truly been left alone.
Not quite leaning back into her seat, she shuffled in closer to the table. There was no telling the last time any of their furniture was cleaned, or the people that had previously sat in them. āI needed a break, is that so hard to imagine? The idea of playing bridge with the ladies this afternoon just didnāt tickle my fancy, so I figured I would mingle with the rabble. Unfortunately, the other half donāt exactly have a good grasp onĀ personal space or hygiene from the smell of this place.ā
Sirius couldnāt help but chuckle at Andromedaās remark.Ā āI never wouldāve expected one to begin with. I know what bridges I burned along the way.ā He doesnāt sound particularlyĀ saddened when he says it; rather, thereās a factual tone to his voice. This back and forth is almost familiar, itās almost the dreadful parties theyād been forced to attend. Itās almost playful ribbing at the family picnics. However, it falls just short of what once was.Ā
āKnowing the Black family, no, thatās not at all hard to imagine.ā His tone is equally dry and he casually indulges in the cigarette and booze in front of him. When his fingers start to feel the heat, he snuffs the bud in the ashtray and fights the urge to light another one up.Ā āNo, the rabble arenāt as teen on following high-societyās rules.ā He shifted, getting more comfortableĀ in his chair, as if to prove his point and further remove himself from her.Ā
āAll things considered, I canāt say itās terrible to see you again. Alive and mostly well.ā Itās a statement that invites vulnerability, but he says it anyways. Sirius, against his better judgement, misses his family. He doesnāt want them all to be lost. There are times, too, when he wishes that he couldāve just kept his head down, if he could have just adapted.Ā
Who are your best friends?
āMy best friends? Well this oneās easy. The Marauders, of course. Charity is close to my heart as well. Somehow Lily wormed her way in there too.āĀ
Who do you resent?
āMy mother and father. Their disgusting nature is no secret. Growing up with them both shaped and ruined me. My motherās words will never leave me, nor my fatherās marks. Iām not sure resent is a strong enough word for how I feel about them. There are few I wish death upon; however, if they were to be struck down I would praise whatever deities may be out there in this universe. People like them donāt deserve a place in this world.āĀ
who is your secret crush???
To Siriusās surprise, his cheeks heat slightly as a name jumps to his the front of his mind.Ā āListen, I donāt think uh- crush - describes it well enough.ā He clears his throat, clearly uncomfortable with the whole situation.Ā āHeās... A friend. A close friend. Next question!āĀ
do you regret abandoning your brother and cousins? did you even ever love them?
The question seems to genuinelyĀ upset Sirius. He glares, arms folded over his chest as his jaw tightens.Ā āOf course. Love will only get you so far though. Bellatrix, Merlin help her, isnāt coming back from whatever sheās let get ahold of her. That was clear ages ago. Dromeda... Well, thatās a different story, isnāt it? Reg will find his way, Iām sure. As for Narcissa, I have no idea. And for the rest of my family, I donāt know. Iām fairly certain theyāve given themselves over. Do I regretĀ leaving them? Maybe not, but donāt you ever question my love for Regulus.ā
If you could say anything to regulus, what would it be?
āIāve said most of what I wanted, in the letter I sent him. Iām there for him. I wonāt leave him again. I hope that he escapes the darkness of our family. Heās got something left in him, Iām sure of it.āĀ
top five hottest/cutest people you know?
āHmm. Prongs is quite the looker, so is Lily to be honest with you. Remus has a cute bookishness to him. Charityās pretty. Thatās four, huh? Well I suppose the fifth is myself.āĀ
biggest regret?
Thereās not even a moment of hesitation for him.
āLeaving Regulus behind.ā
Hey guys, we just thought it would be fun to do a miniĀ veritaserum task for our characters. Feel free to reblog this, so that people will be aware that youāre participating in our little HONESTLY HOUR (though, feel free to extend it over the course of 24 hours). Iām sure there are questions that are simply burning to be answered, so send them to everyone that reblogs this post and have fun!
petergrewpetty:
āSo, Iāll take youāll just use some spell to glue yourself to me now? Weāre moving in together? Take it slow, Padfoot, youāll need to buy me dinner first,ā he joked when Sirius so dramatically and so characteristically made loyalty into something bold. It wasnāt that Peter didnāt believe him, because nobody could ever doubt Sirius Black with that tone and Peter got to learn the symptoms of each of his friendsā lies after spending half of his life hearing them make up excuses.Ā āYou can leave me, Pads. Itās fine. Just come back the next day or something. Thatās the deal Iām offering,ā he waved a hand dismissively and gave away a clumsy, but genuine simper.
Six shots levitated in front of Peter and his eyes were starry as the vodka filled them with hope. Oh, how he loved the biting taste of it and how the dizziness finally brought sense to his uncertainty. How, when the whole world was shaking before his eyes from alcohol, it seemed less obvious that he was the one constantly tilting, oscillating between two doubts and two lying truths. It was almost as if, in the cracks of the world, he finally found a place for himself. It was nice. Peter was only raising the first shot out of the trilogy and he could already feel the taste warming up his throat. He liked burning, even if it wasnāt from his own fire.
āInspiring,ā Peter sniffed, envying even the way he blurted out the words and made them sound like a good job. He would have spent half a lifetime trying to come up with something clever, searching for an appropriately quirky toast. Searching, whereas Sirius was creating those out of thin air and words. One, two, three, and all the three shots found their way down Peterās throat. Good.Ā āIt happens to even the worst of us,ā he smiled widely with theatrical pride, because he couldnāt take credit for the idea - an idea so simple and mundane, to just go drinking.Ā
Thereās no time wasted in downing the shots. The burn is pleasant and beautiful, and Sirius wonders if something warmer could burn away the sins of his family. Heās sure he could inhale lava and the Black would still dwell in his veins. His history seemed to trail behind him like the bad omen heās sworn to be. His fingers itch, his mind tugs, and he pulls out a cigarette. Thereās an ash tray in front of him, and idly he wonders if thereās enough booze in the air to light the entire place up. The lighter he pulls out and uses is of muggle origin, but the movement to flick it on is natural at this point.Ā
Itās after his first drag that Sirius speaks again. Up until this point the conversation had been light and easy going. Heās reluctant to break the mood, but itās been too long since theyād caught up. The grimmer subjects were bound to arise.Ā āHowāve you been?ā He asked, turning his head towards his friend.Ā āAnd none of the sweet bullshit. Howāve you been, with everything going on?ā There was darkness creeping into every light, surely Peter hadnāt gone untouched.Ā
the original cautionary tale
Cycle:Ā
Siriusās first tattoo sprung from friendship. After turning into the impossible for Remus, heād decided to take it a step further. Always prone to forget, Sirius wanted a tattoo of the moon cycles so that he would never forget. His desire was to always be there for Remus, if only in thought.Ā
Heād researched for almost a year before finally feeling confident in the charm. Sirius chose his wording carefully, crafting a delicate spell that would not only create the ink in his skin, but also charm it to change shape with the cycles of the moon. There was pain of course, but at the end there was a beautiful image of a new moon on his left wrist. It wasnāt too large, and he found out a few weeks later that it did indeed change with the cycles of the moon. It was perfect. Never again did he forget the day of the full moon.Ā
The Lion:Ā
The first muggle tattoo Sirius got was of a large lion along his left inner bicep. The lion was an intricate design, carefully created to hide the real meaning behind it. Amongst the fur the artists concealed the constellation of Leo. The permanent ink etched into his skin was an ode to his brother, one that he liked to keep hidden away from the world. To most who saw, it would be a celebration of his status as a Gryffindor.
Companions:Ā
Recently, Sirius added another tattoo. The small tattoo rests just underneath the moon on Sirius left arm was also enchanted. Three sets of paw prints were enchanted into his skin, each for one of his closest friends. After leaving Hogwarts, Sirius had wanted some way to make sure they were alive, even if they were separated by a seemingly endless distance.Ā
When transformed into their respective forms, the corresponding print on Siriusās arm will create a feeling of being pricked with a needle. The pain isnāt too much, and easily ignorable. The tattoo brings a bit of sanity into Siriusās chaotic life, reminding him that some things will always be constant.Ā
lionheartlily:
āThanks- itās ācause theyāre actually spiked with Amortentia,ā she remarked matter-of-factly, snatching one.Ā āYou know Iāve been trying to seduce you since third year.ā Merlin, she still couldnāt believe her only friends are people sheās known since she was thirteen. Especially thisĀ person.Ā
She cracked a smile that didnāt quite reach her eyes.Ā āYou know me. Fighting Dementors all day.ā If only.Ā āI mean⦠itās the waiting thatās the worst,ā she admitted, flexing her fingers out in front of her, waiting for them to crack.Ā āAt least you two get to fight. Youāre doing something. I do nothing,ā she complained, leg still beating a staccato beat against Siriusās cabinet, she mustĀ remember to make sure she wasnāt leaving a scuff.Ā āI sit in an office, and write dumb fluff articles about Purebloods doing Pureblood things, and ignore that the world is falling the fuck apart.ā It was funny, so she laughed. Then she regretted it.Ā āAnd I know whatever Iām dealing with isnāt halfĀ as bad as what you must be dealing with, and that kills me too, yeah? That the people I care about are being fucked with too.ā Pouring herself a cup of coffee, she kicked his shin, turning off the anger just as easily as sheād turned it on. Sheād always been good at compartmentalizing.Ā āWell, now thatās done. Are you ready to be interrogated by some arsehole you probably work with?āĀ
Sirius listened attentively, taking in every word. When Lily opened up it was an important moment. Heād learned long ago to never let an exposed heart feel hurt by neglect or disregard. His smile was rueful, sympathizingĀ with her pain and wishing he could do something to help it. Heās never enjoyed watching negativity of any sort build up within his friends. He knew the feeling well, and it wasnāt one heād wish upon anyone.Ā āI wish I had some sage advice.ā Sirius really wish he did. He wished there were something easy to this whole mess instead of the shit theyāve been given. The world is gradually getting tangled into a bigger mess with no easy way out, and the every day individual has become caught right in the middle. He shrugged at the comment about what heās going through.Ā āEveryone is equal in this regard, Lily. No personās shit is worse than anyone elseās.ā Objectively, maybe it was. However the feeling that was associatedĀ were strong for each individual. Sirius couldnāt just discount the pain because someone elseās problems may seem smaller.Ā
The kick to his shin brought a smile to his face. Sirius rolled his eyes and gave her a light nudge with his shoulder.Ā āNothing wrong with opening up to someone as charming and enchanting as me.ā He grabbed a mug and poured a cup of coffee as well before walking over to the small table. He set his mug down and opened up the window, shrugging as he searched his pockets for something.Ā āIām more frustrated than anything else,ā he admitted.Ā āItās infuriating Iām just as likely to be accused as Bella.ā Sirius found what he was looking for and pulled out a cigarette.Ā āWonāt bother you if I smoke will it?ā He didnāt often smoke around his friends, but Lily was different. It was strange how safe he felt around her. There was always kindness and understanding within her. When he was with her, he felt as if he could be a good person, as if his past didnāt haunt him.Ā
franklongbvttom:
Frank liked spending time in Hogsmeade, just as he enjoyed travelling to Diagon Alley and the other wizarding locations around the country. It was nice to get out and spend some time away from home and the office; he was so busy these days that any chance he got for a bit of a break, he leapt at. There had been a lull this afternoon, a rareĀ thing these days. Frank had found himself with no work (Ā heād handed off the last of his paperwork to Alice Fortescue ), and heād immediately travelled to Hogsmeade before something else could come up and hinder his plans.
He was only planning to spend an hour or two here, and he thought he deserved it āāāā he couldnāt remember the last time heād actually had the time for a lunch break. Really, this was the least the Ministry could do for him. When heād arrived, though, heād realised he didnāt actually have a specific location in mind. Not wanting to waste his limited time here, though, he decided to just wander down the bustling street and go wherever took his fancy.
The shops lining either side of the road were all familiar to him from his visits here when he was a Hogwarts student, but it had been a while since heād managed to get away to come here, and there were a few changes he picked up on right away. Some of the shops had been repainted, others were gone entirely, replaced by new ones. But most of them were still the same, and still provoked the nostalgic memories within him, for days that were much simpler than they were now.
Then he heard his name and his head swivelled around, eyes locking on Sirius Black. It seemed that the younger man had taken advantage of the brief relief from the onslaught of work. A smile appeared one his face, and he changed course slightly and began walking over towards Sirius instead, meeting the man halfway. Upon reaching him, he held out his hand to shake.Ā āIt has been. Howāve you been holding up at the office? Busy times anā all.āĀ
Sirius took the hand with a firm grip, giving a good shake before withdrawing it. He was sure to keep professional contact brief, regardless of his tendencyĀ towards overt affection for those he was even slightly friends with. It was the dog in him, he supposed; this urge for human companionship and contact was near insatiable.Ā
He shrugged slightly, a large grin tugging his lips.Ā āOh itās gone chaotically and without ceasing, as Iām sure youāre aware. AdmittedlyĀ I was surprised by how much they shove onto us newbies, not that Iām complaining. Itās nice to have something to keep me busy when they donāt let us go out and do things.ā Sirius had never taken to idle time well. Even though all the paperwork felt pointless, it was nice and comforting to constantly feel busy. There wasnāt enough time during the work day to consider all the things that kept him up at night, and for that he was thankful.Ā
āI was thinking of heading to the Three Broomsticks for a bite to eat and a butterbeer before heading back to work, if youād care to join me.ā Butterbeer, regardless of the heat, would always be one of Siriusās favorite drinks that wouldnāt make him uselessly wasted. There was a time and place for day drinking, and his lunch break simply wasnāt one of them.Ā
