Chioglossa lusitanica - the golden-striped salamander - is a long-tailed amphibian native to the north-western Iberian Peninsula (yes, that includes Portugal!). They're usually nocturnal but I might've woken up this little fella here by almost stepping on it! Don't worry, after the photoshoot I set it free and it quickly went back under the fallen leaves, to rest before a night of hunting invertebrates, no doubt. Sadly, the species is threatened by habitat loss, making the sight of this beautiful beastie even more precious.
