Diana leapt out of her hiding spot, throwing her little arms in the air, a wide grin stretched across her lips. “Happy Birthda- Auntie O!” She whined, realizing the person walking through the door wasn’t in fact her father, but rather her aunt, and she looked back to Gina who was still crouched in her spot behind the partition. She waved Diana back and smiled up at Octavia.
“Come on, we’re surprising your brother.” She said, waving her over too. “He’s due back from patrol any minute.”
Octavia rolled her eyes at Gina, but she could never deny Diana, and crouched right behind the little girl, tugging playfully on the braids Octavia herself had done just yesterday. The three girls waited until they heard his deep voice outside the hut, and Octavia held a hand to Diana’s shoulder to keep the girl from jumping out early, recognizing the telltale eagerness in the way the girl was practically vibrating with excitement. Just one more moment, a few more steps and-
“Happy birthday!” The three of them jumped out right as the door swung shut behind him, making him jump and then dissolve into laughter as Diana flung herself at him joyously, peppering his face with messy, loving kisses. Gina waved an arm toward him in a sign for Octavia to approach first, and the young leader stepped forward to join the hug, squeezing both of them and whispering to Bell that she’d need him later before eskimo kissing Diana’s nose and taking her leave.
The second the brunette had stepped back from him, Gina moved to take her spot, smiling at the way Bellamy shifted Diana to one arm so his other could wrap around Gina’s shoulder and hold her close to him. She rose up to kiss his cheek, laughing when he twisted his head quickly to catch her lips instead, making Diana giggle at the sudden movement.
happy. bellamy had never been so damn happy in his entire life. his body flooded with the warmth of LOVE, the love of his family. the look on gina’s face, the excitement in his daughter’s being, bouncing with joy in his arms. the amusement in his sisters eyes. this. this was what life on earth was supposed to be. he was relieved that this was the life he’d bring his daughter into, relieved—but, why relieved? this is all he has ever known, right? dark eyes widen as the hut begins to disappear, their belongings fading to dust before the world around them was nothing but sand, raging fires rolling over sand mounds in the distance. the light was fading and he felt diana cling tighter to him. he too, held onto her as tight as he could. “ Gina! O! ” he shouted to them though they were only a few feet away. slowly they turned to look at him, fear in their eyes, sorrow. what was going on? no, no. he couldn’t lose them like this—not again. again? brows furrowed, he was confused. what did he mean again? diana screamed as both gina and octavia began to fade, turn to dust before being swept away as if nothing into the swirling sand storms that surrounded him. he clung to his daughter now, burying her face in his shoulder, trying to do whatever he could to protect her. she was crying, “ daddy I’m scared! ” he hushed her, trying to find cover as he stumbled through the sinking and ever shifting sands. “ It’s okay… you’re going to be okay… I’m going to protect you… ” he repeated like a mantra, heart racing in his chest. his mouth was dry, blinking harshly to keep the sand out of his eyes. struggling he finally made it to the top of the tallest sand hill he could find when his hands dropped at his sides. eyes widened in horror as he raised them—diana no longer in them. panic coursed through his body as well as anguish as he turned, searching for her desperately only to find nothing. “ no… no, no, no… ” he cried before screaming out.,“ NO! ” tears flew from his cheeks, sand sticking to his face as he sunk to his knees. she was gone, everything was gone. gina, octavia, his daughter, this life.
there was a gentle knock on the door causing bellamy to gasp, sitting up, one hand clutching his chest. “ bellamy, we need you. raven found something. ” it took him a moment to come back to his senses, voice grave from sleep as well as the thick emotions he had aching in his heart. clearing his throat he managed to get out, “ give me a minute… ” slowly he swung his legs off the bed before he placed his head in his palms. tears stung in his eyes as he shut them tightly, jaw clenching as the false memories of his dream both good and bad fought in his mind. he had had a family, everything he wanted and then it was torn away. sucking in a breath he roughly wiped his eyes before running a hand through his hair. the nightmares had only been getting worse—could he even call them that? they were perfect, most of them at least, everything he wished of. but it always ended the same, no matter what was happening, no matter how happy he was, they always faded. he always felt the same anguish and longing for them. watching them slip from his hands as they joined the storm, ripping him from this fantasy and back to the harsh reality of his life and how none of them were in it.

Grave - Find my muse dead.
She wouldn’t ever see what happened. Hadn’t had a chance to realize what was happening before it was too late. She’d never hear the familiar voice calling for her in annoyance, assuming she was late for the dinner she’d invited the younger sibling to. She’d never hear Octavia’s panicked cry when she spotted her brother’s girlfriend, nor her demanding shriek for help, nor the way the girl’s voice struggled to hold back tears as she begged anyone who could hear to call 9-1-1, her own hands busy trying to stop the blood flow that had already stained too much of the concrete.
Despite the fact that her eyes were open, they wouldn’t see the fear and horror on Octavia’s usually hard features. She’d never see the depth that Octavia had grown to reluctantly care about her, even if the girl would have been happier to not have to share her brother. She wouldn’t feel any pain as the brunette girl pressed her hands against the stab wounds, was already gone by the time she was found by the girl who had already lost too much.
The only one that would hear, see, or feel anything was Octavia as she struggled to will Gina back alive.
Cough!

Cough - Find my muse coughing out blood.
She attempted a smile when his face appeared at the back of the rover. She hadn’t moved as per Jacapo’s orders; when the rover had crashed she’d been thrown to the floor of the back- this thing really needed seat belts back here- and while that alone would have hurt but not been too much a cause for concern, the stacked boxes that had followed suit and crashed atop her had broken something in her. Jacapo said probably a rib, but neither had actually suffered from something like that so they had no way of knowing for sure.
What they did both know? Broken ribs could puncture lungs and cause one to cough up blood... as she was currently doing.
Jacapo and Evan had moved the boxes off her, but otherwise left her as she was as they waited for the help Arcadia had sent. Her jacket was balled up beneath her head and she winced with every shallow breath, but then Bellamy was there, climbing into the rover with Jackson on his heels and still she tried to ease the look on his face. “I kep-pt telling them we- ne- need seat belts...” She managed, tasting blood on her lips and sliding down the back of her throat.
Bruise! ( from mike! )

Bruise - Find my muse badly beaten up.
She held the rag to her temple, alternating between that and the swelling beneath her eye. She’d already cleaned the blood from her lips and that had dried quickly thankfully, so she didn’t need to wash the rag more than a couple times before she could just use the coolness to sooth the bruises. Her temple was still bleeding a little, but hopefully that too would stop soon. The real issue was going to be the finger shaped bruises around her wrist that were currently bright red but would soon fade to a darker, more obvious hue. She’d get hot hiding those under long sleeves, but there wasn’t much choice.
Her door opened and she looked up in alarm, alarm that didn’t fade even when she recognized Mike. Shit. He wasn’t going to be happy. And true to form, his expression turned thunderous and he crossed the space with long, half-angry/half-worried strides, questioning what had happened.
Even despite how badly she hurt, despite how upset he was and the controversy that very well might happen if he managed to get the full story out of her, she smiled.
She hadn’t flinched at the look on his face, nor the swiftness of his movements. It had been a while since she hadn’t flinched around someone, and it made her feel more normal than a lot of things could. He made her feel normal, and the realization made her smile even though the motion caused her lip to sting. “I’m fine. It’s worse than it looks, I promise.”
hotsaucechrsmscake:
“ better now that I have a pretty bartender talking to me. ” he said smoothly, well as smooth as he could considering he was still slightly grimacing from the pain in his side. the cuts on his face were healing nicely, whereas the *rest* of him—dr. griffin probably would have preferred him take it easy, especially not drink alcohol but he was a *rebel* plus, he felt like he was entitled to doing what he wanted since he was almost killed by the psychos up on the mountain. eyes gaze down at the half drink she gave him and his smile faltered a bit but he shrugged it off before drinking it in one go. smacking his lips together he sighed in satisfaction, face skewing as the hard liquor burned down his throat. “ ahh. I mean, to be honest I’ve definitely been better. ”
She smiled distractedly in acknowledgement of his compliment, but it didn’t distract her from the worried way her eyes catalogued the cuts and bruises on his face, nor the way they slid down his arms as though curious if she could see any others before coming back to his face. He didn’t appreciate her rationing his drink, but she honestly didn’t care; he didn’t look like a drink would do anything but make him forget the pain. And while she understood the urge objectively, Abby and Raven had both drilled in enough that pain was a measure of healing. The last thing anyone needed were more kids getting too dependent on alcohol. One was more than enough.
“Are you coming from Abby or taking a pit stop on your way to her?” Not seeing Abby wasn’t an option, one she hoped he noticed if he hadn’t already seen her. She was worried about too many of the kids trying to walk off what had been done to them. New to the ground, she hadn’t missed the general consensus of get-over-your-pain-and-fast that seemed to prevail down here.
They were just kids; they deserved to heal in peace without being forced to start training as soldiers right after.

“ Falling for a selfless man is the fastest way to have your heart broken and filled at the same time. ” Maggie mused out loud, glancing over at Gina with a wise and a bit wistful of a glance as Bellamy’s figure faded from view. She remembered all to well the amount of sleepless night’s she’d spent worrying about her husband’s safety, and that had been on the Ark. The ground, altogether, was another level of fear and worry. A knowing grin crept across her face as she joked carefully, busying herself with supplies as she searched for usable material.
“ It would be a lot less taxing the selfish ones because they’ll never put themselves in harm’s way and we’d have to worry less, but then again, it’s not supposed to be easy. ”
@ginaofthe100 // idk gina gets a random mom starter
She watched him leave, her hands pausing on the things she’d been slowly moving from the shelves to the boxes before he’d come in to say goodbye. He’d come up with her but he had a patrol to report for, and was taking the already-loaded rover back to Arkadia early. A simple kiss to each other’s cheeks, an easy goodbye-that-wasn’t-really-goodbye, but she’d kept watching his retreating figure as he left the room, his familiar soldier’s gait of footfalls slowly fading.
Maggie’s voice startled her back to reality, and her cheeks went pink as she busied herself back with her box. After a second though, she looked back up, a longing smile on her lips despite the heat under her skin. “I love him for being selfless, but there’s no denying I’d worry less if he was just a touch more selfish.” She returned easily. She’d never use the l-word with him, but to others it was easier, it put no pressure on him while letting her feel what she wanted. “Does it get any easier? Letting them leave?”

mike couldn’t help but offer a grin at her praise, head dipping as he scuffed his heels along the ground while they walked. hands in his jacket pocket, he glanced sideways at her with raised brows as a smaller and softer smile appeared across his lips. he studied her expression, knowing that she was probably worried about him—could tell she still cared about him. he nodded to her, “ honestly, I don’t even think he is killable. too handsome—like me. ” he teased, his playful grin returning as they entered the cafeteria, allowing her in front of him as they waited in line. “ …man, it’s going to be a long five years. ” he said under his breath to her, eyeing the grounders who needed to be forced back into line since they didn’t seem to understand or rather didn’t care about the rules. his stance growing more protective as the group of three rowdy and seemingly aggressive grounders passed them as guards shoved them back, indra calling out in grounder language to get them to obey. a hand reached around in a protective manner as he moved himself to be between gina and the group. their eyes caught his as they looked at him challenge glinting in them. mike glared back but didn’t say anything and only once they were gone did he relax once more. “ ….fucking hate the grounders. ” he grumbled.
Oh lord, she could get used to having Mike around, with his silly comments and easygoing manner. Already she felt her muscles uncoiling just from having been around him a few minutes; she’d forgotten how funny he could be, how he’d used to make her laugh with those same silly comments and constant flirtation. “Well hopefully you’ll both stay handsome and stick around a while longer. To a ripe old age, preferably.” She teased in return, falling into the spot in front of him with a quick, almost thoughtless ‘thank you’.
She was trying not to focus on the grounders pushing and shoving their way to get food, her eyes turned down and simply hoping not to be noticed. “Long, indeed.” She muttered, softly enough to be heard only by Mike, not by the now-passing grounders. She could see them getting close in her peripheral, and was partially grateful for how Mike angled himself between her and the grounders but frightened for him for the way he met them unflinchingly. The last thing she wanted was to see him get in an altercation with some of the grounders, and her fingers came up to wrap around his arm, silently pleading with him to not get into it with them.
They finally left and she let go of his arm, looking alarmed when she realized she’d been holding onto him tight enough to leave little white impressions on his skin that were already fading. “Sorry.” She apologized immediately. “I uhm- I hate them too,” she nodded to his arm. “In case that wasn’t obvious.”

there was a lightness in his honey hues, a feeling of pride that he was able to make her laugh in her state. a small smile tugging at his lips, mirroring gina’s and there was relief in his expression. he could tell she was still in turmoil, her mind racing, going over thoughts in her mind—it was easy to tell by how her hands fidgeted together as if she couldn’t seem to stay still since her pacing had momentarily paused. the look in her eyes from the brief glance she gave him, surprise, made it clear she was maybe confused that he was trying so hard to help her. hands tuck into his pockets as shoulders rise, lips pursing as he thought over his next action very carefully. debating on it, he bit down on his lip, eyes quickly flitting from the her to the ground and back. slowly he walked closer to her, reaching out slowly, making sure she caught sight of his first hand so that he wouldn’t startle her as much, and took hold of her arm. “ come here… ” he said softly, his next hand reached out and wrapped around her as he gently pulled her in for a hug. he was cautions not to hug her too tightly because if she didn’t want the hug he would be very willing to let her go, but she looked like she was in desperate need for a hug and he wasn’t sure just how many friends she had down in the bunk who would offer to give her one. “ you’re welcome, but there’s no need to thank me. we’re in this together, I don’t know about you but for me, you’re one of the very few people I trust and like down here so.. ” he paused, glancing down at her, arms loosely around her, “ —like it or not, you’re stuck with me, martin. ” he gave her a charming smile but it was much more genuine than usual.
His moving toward her didn’t startle her; somewhere along the line he’d started moving a little slower around her, making sure he didn’t surprise her with movement or by sneaking up on her, little allowances she didn’t know how to voice her appreciation for. Her eyebrows did furrow somewhat as he reached out for her- that was new- confused for only a moment as she realized he was reaching to wrap his fingers around her arm, and she knew what he was doing even before he spoke.
Her smile turned warm, and she let him pull her to him, let his arm wrap around her and while there was that illogical skitter of nerves at having someone have such a control over her... it had been so long since someone had really touched her without the intent to hurt her. Surely there were people down here that would, if she gave them a chance, but she was so wary of chances anymore. Her arms wrapped around him, soft at first, but after a few seconds she realized how tight they’d gotten around him, betraying how starved she was for the type of kind touch she’d once been known for giving, not for needing.
you’re one of the very few people I trust and like down here... He was arguably one of the only people she trusted down here, trusted at least not to hurt her which was all she asked for these days. “I can think of far worse people to be stuck with.” She teased, her voice starting to grow stronger again, feeling oddly reassured by the hug, protected instead of restrained. Honestly, she didn’t want to let go, but knew she needed to. So she pulled back a few inches and kissed his cheek. “You know, you’re much sweeter than you give yourself credit for.”
headstrongblake-a:
even with her back to the other and eyes forward on helios she can feel gina’s stare burrowing into her very being. everyone in that cave was going to have an opinion. everyone who’d never understand. what did they know about having a sibling? about having these intense emotions that unstably balanced between worshipping her big brother and the overwhelming hatred she felt looking at him. for as long as octavia could remember bellamy had always been the hero of her story. that light that overcame the evil and horrors to protect her. but on the ground they’ve both been exposed to new environments. different dynamics. foreign everything and somehow her brother has become the enemy. the one held responsible, like always, for the pain that engulfed her. so what the hell did they know about handling that?
the warrior held her grip on helios fur, letting the blood transfer from her hands to him while she made attempts to steady her breathing. every nerve in her body continued to shoot off as she inhaled deeply mentally trying to put a wall around her emotions. the war was not over. not won. there was no time to mourn lincoln until pike’s blood soaked the earth's ground.
finally when she couldn’t stand it any longer, octavia whipped her head around, staring down the one who’d been watching her silently. judging her and the actions that took place inside of the cave without even saying a damn thing. what conspired between the two siblings was between them. to hell with everyone else. “what – did you suddenly forget how to speak?” she fired off, taking a few steps away from helios towards gina.
@headstrongblake
She watched Octavia’s back move quickly at first with her labored breaths, watched it slowly start to calm as she worked through what was still left of her rage and her grief. In any other situation, Gina would speak, would try to help calm the girl, try to comfort her and let her grieve. but Octavia felt oddly untouchable in this moment, someone Gina couldn’t and didn’t want to reach out to. She knew there was a lot here she didn’t understand. She didn’t understand the violence of the ground, the fighting over land that seemed to stretch on for hundreds of miles around them. She didn’t understand people who fall victim to the violence and let it consume them, and on a more personal level, she didn’t know what it was to have a sibling, or to feel betrayed by one.
Octavia’s voice was sharp, barbed, meant to sting, meant to offend and get a rise from. But Gina simply raised an equally judgmental eyebrow, a far cry from her usual kind, understanding expression. “Would you care what I had to say if I hadn’t?” She returned, her own tone arch and already suspecting the answer. Octavia had never cared what she had to say; most of their relationship was Gina luring Octavia into speaking through silence, but usually a soft silence than was between them now.
headstrongblake-a:
@ginaofthe100 get’s five years underground
octavia sits in the office a leader. composed and pouring over documents to find her people a way out of this bunker once the remaining time has passed. until the earth above them is survival once again. every day she has to remain focused and there isn’t many moments she can allow herself time to wallow in the corners of her mind filled with her big brother. the one who should be in here with her but he was up in space. or at least they all hoped the eight of them made it up into the stars back to the ark. they hoped they were surviving up there like they were trying to do down here but ultimately without any ways to communicate since praimfaya no one truly knew what had happened to them all.
today she finds it harder to focus. if time were correct, today would be her eighteenth birthday. there was a time ago when she believed during this day she’d be awaiting a trial. a chance to plead her case before the council decided whether to float her or integrate her back into society. she had held hope that today would be a day when she would finally get to see her big brother again after they denied the blakes any chance of visitations but here she sat alone. underneath the ground and unable to stop her thoughts from wandering to him. wondering if he’d ever make it back to them.
a knock at the door, followed by a familiar woman’s features stirs her from her dreaming. her fingers gathered up the papers as she swiftly brushed away a stray tear. one she didn’t notice until it was already too late. “what is it that you need, gina?” she asked, turning her attention towards the other.
@headstrongblake
She tried not to bother Octavia often- ever, really- but between the favor she needed and the importance of the day at hand, she made an exception to her usual rule. She knocked out of pure habit, but swung the cracked door open further without waiting for a reply from behind it, catching the lightning quick movement of Octavia’s hand brushing under her eyes. Poor girl; she was too young to be having to deal with all of this, to be having to deal with any of this. Life had been rough on the Ark, but she’d deserved to have a normal childhood, to be able to learn and socialize and make friends.
Life wasn’t always bad on the Ark ( for children not in the Blake’s circumstances ) but sometimes the memory of how cold and cruel it could be made Gina’s blood boil.
“I was wondering if I could get your help with some of the in-fighting between the mentors or teachers or whatever they all prefer to be called. We’re still having issues getting everyone to agree one what should be taught and the kids are starting to fight amongst themselves because of it.”
She paused after that, before leaving- she didn’t expect Octavia to make the time now, she simply wanted to know if the girl was willing to help- and finally added. “Also I know you probably don’t want to hear this but Bell did mention once when your birthday was and...” She reached behind her and plucked the book from her waistband and held it in front of her. “I gave it to your brother a while ago, he also mentioned on a different occasion that your mother used to read it to you." She said, setting the worn copy of the Iliad on the table between them and backing up a pace. “Happy birthday, Octavia.”
