     there’s an instant roll of her eyes as her brother inspected the very fresh new ink that octavia had taken it upon herself to get. “it’s perfect,” she said, finger touching around the swollen skin just above her left hip bone before her eyes lifted to his face, a large smile present on her lips. octavia couldn’t help it. from the moment she walked into the shop it was like she was buzzing on a high and extremely calm all at the same time. the needle was soothing though the buzz was likely from the shots she’d taken with erin beforehand. 

     you’re sixteen, what shop tattooed you without my consent? her smile dropped but only slightly. only for a moment as she lifted her shoulders nonchalantly. octavia hadn’t really thought it’d be a big deal to him. the two of them had already gotten one tattoo together, was she not supposed to continue adding? “what’s your damage— it’s wicked bell, look at it.” the younger blake proudly displayed her half skull half butterfly tattoo. though she couldn’t decide which she liked more — the art or the scripture below that read biker born. 

   octavia. ”oh my god,” both hands came up dramatically to the side of her head as he fixated on needing more details. “chill big brother, i got it done on main—y’know where all the gods hang out?” her brow raised, hands coming down to gesture towards his own cut.

if these were any other circumstances she’d be smirking right about now. laughing and shoving off his sappiness that comes from his lips. she’d tell him to cut it out before cracking a beer with her big brother. if these were any other circumstances, she’d look him in the eye. but she can’t. not now. not when he sounds so defeated because they’ve been through this too many times. he wants to fix her. wants to make her whole but every time he’s close, she slips through his fingers like sand. octavia barely stirred in her daze, pinned hues blinking at the wall. there’d been pictures there once. some she’d taken of the two of them after he’d become her guardian. before bikes, gangs and highs took over her every waking thought. 

it takes everything in her to pick herself up off the tattered single armed chair and move herself over to bellamy on the couch. at nineteen octavia wants it to be the last time. she’d tattooed a sun and moon behind her ears as rewards even. she wants to be better for him. but that damn escape was always so tempting. always luring her in like a sirens song. and ryder. what would start out as sober fun often quickly turned and before she could get a handle, octavia was showing back up at the apartments too stoned to remember her promises to her brother.

“i’ll be better,” she mumbled a promise he’s heard before, curling up into bellamy’s side like she was still a little girl in need of comfort. she needed him. needed him to love her. tell her he’d make her better even when she didn’t believe she’d ever be worth saving. “you’re my moon.” she murmured, eyelids fluttering closed as she adjusted to bellamy’s arm as it came around her shoulders.
