Social Media Ethics
The current state of social media ethics: what trends are happening in the industry?
Some trends that are happening on social media right now are AI generated content, lots of short videos such as reels, and a rise of social commerce where aspiring content creators and influencers are looking to sell products and digital marketing manuals.
What are two current cases related to social media ethics?
Two court cases have recently been held due to the violation of first amendment rights. In the Lindke v. Freed case, a resident had been reported blocked and his comments were deleted when he brought attention to COVID 19 under a city manager's Facebook post. In another case, Murthy V. Missouri, several people had accused federal officials and agencies using private entities so censor another's content. This is also a violation of free speech.
