Situation: Summer 1999, I was spending it with Harry, Ginny, Teddy and Sarah at the Shell Cottage with Fleur, Bill and the young Victoire.

“So how’s life?” I asked Ginny whilst feeding the children.

“Insane.” She laughed as she wiped Teddy’s mouth. “I’m selected to become a chaser for the Hollyhead Harpies.”

“Wow, Ginny! That is insane! I’m so happy for you! Congrats!”

“Well.. There are still some try-outs, but I’m feeling lucky.”

“As you should, you’re amazing at quidditch.” The sun shines in through the many windows and leaves these beautiful reflections on the walls through the glass ornaments. We have been blessed with amazing weather. It feels good to feel the breeze in your hair and the sun on your skin.

“Thank you. How are you coming along? Any plans?”

I bit my lip. “Well..” I actually did not know what I wanted just yet. The past year has been such a crazy rush of which I don’t remember most of it. I never thought I’d have to think about a future without Fred.. And now instead, I have a child to think about.

“It’s okay if you don’t know.” Ginny said softly.

“I’m just.. I don’t know.. For now I’m just happy to be here, with her.” I looked at Sarah and smiled.

“Nobody blames you for that.” Ginny replied. “I know George would love to have you back at the shop.” I know they talk a lot now. In a way, Ginny is a good sibling for George to talk to. She can be ruthless, wise, caring, but above all she’s a great listener. She’s that person you talk to because you know they’ll be honest no matter what.

“I know. George already mentioned it. Part-time might work.”

“See? You’ll manage, just follow your heart.” But right now still a part of my heart just wanted to walk into the sea to let myself crash onto the rocks. If that was what it takes to see Fred once more.

“Thanks, Gin.” I picked up Sarah. “I think I’m going to read to her upstairs.” As I walked upstairs I felt a weird breeze fall over me. I first came her barely 1,5 years ago, broken and down. The little room I stayed in back then, was now Victoire’s room. For the two weeks that we’re staying, they turned into a nursery for Teddy, Victoire and Sarah.

I took a book from the shelf and sat down with Sarah. Staring at her beautiful blue eyes. The freckles at her nose.. It made me think how I could ever detest her so much. She looks perfect. She even makes me giggle when she tries to grab my hair with her tiny little hands.

“Now there once was a tiny little witch. Her name was Sarah and she was very special. She could do anything she desired. As long as she set her heart to it.”
