making my first long furby, kinda nervous

I'm making my first ever long furby and I'm not sure what kind of fabric I should start with, wether i should have it function, or how long it should be!!! I don't even know who the second mother should be! My girlfriend or one of my best friends, sigh, anyways, if anyone sees this, and has any recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated!! also I'm not sure where I would find a starter furby without ordering one, none of the stores in my town sell them anymore :(
