                                        to say he’s surprised that there’s another him stood mere metres away is a sore understatement. of course, he doesn’t show it in any visible way- though that’s par for the course with gladion. however, he can’t help but wonder what went well for the other one that went horribly wrong for him-

                                        considering that the ‘gladion’ stood before him has the hugest damn grin on his face that gladion’s ever even seen- bigger than even hau’s when he returns home after a few days of travelling. it's almost offputting, to see such an unfamiliar expression on a perfect mirror of his own face.

                                        a glance down to his side shows that lucario- who released himself from his pokeball, duly noted- looks downright stumped. he doubts the aura-sensing pokemon is having much fun with some alternate version of his trainer running around.

                                        and, as little as he wants to, he has to call out- at least to try and calm things down. “hey. you there.”

Does he say something? The guy just totally wiped out right infront of him. He’s worried, sure, but the guy looks…pissed. Touya isn’t sure he should, but damn if he can’t ignore someone in possible need of help. So against his slightly better judgement…

He steps over to the blond and holds out his hand.

“Hey, you alright? You took a nasty fall there…If anything got hurt, I have first-aid in my bag.” He offers.

                                        “i’m fine.” his quick reassurance perhaps comes off with a biting tone, though it’s not intentional- he’s been working to keep his anger under control recently, and leaving the foundation lifted some of that burden. after a pause, though, he takes the proffered hand and allows the stranger to help him up

                                        it’s a kind gesture, after all.

                                        once standing, he checks himself over quickly- aside from a rather sharp pain in his hip that’s likely going to be a pain when walking, he’s fine. “thanks for the offer, but i’ll be okay-”

                                        he’s lying through his teeth, and the wince of pain at his slight shift definitely gives him away.

    She was not expecting him to be kind to her. She had expected anger. She expected hate. This cordial conversation that they were having? That she did not expect. But it was lovely, in it’s own way. Running a hand through her hair, she hummed softly. 

    “Thank you,” she whispered. 

    How wrong would it be for her to ask him how he was? What he was up to? Would he answer that? Would she be overstepping her bounds? She wasn’t sure. But, she wanted to ask him anyway. She knew she didn’t deserve his kindness. She didn’t deserve it at all. 

    “…If you don’t mind my asking,” she continued, “How…are you doing?”

                                        “okay, i guess. i travel a lot, but i have a home to go back to.” perhaps the statement is a tad aimed- it’s doubtful that he’ll ever see the foundation as “home” ever again, and it’s likely that she knows that. his travellung is something that he enjoys, though, even if he isn’t taking on the island challenge with friends, as so many people are nowadays.

                                        just being with his pokemon is enough, he finds.

                                        in a way, he’s happy that she asked after him. even in some small way, it shows she cares, shows her moving on from her past self. he appreciates the thought, though he’ll only voice it to hau later. “...actually, you caught me on my way home.” he doesn’t know what compels him to mention it-

                                        for some reason, he wants her to know that he’ll be ok

                                        -but, he thinks, it’s only polite for him to inquire in return, right? “how’ve things been going for you?”

      What seemed like a millenia ago, Lusamine would have reacted quite differently. Horrific. Mean. Toxic. Anything and everything under the sun. Having the toxins flushed out (which took a lot longer than anyone would have thought ), meant that Lusamine was perhaps reverting to what she should have been. 

      It would still take a while. Perhaps even more years; but it was progress. Progress was good, right? 

      “It is proof that you’re growing up, nonetheless. You look…Well. Yes, that’s the word I’m looking for. You look well.”

                                        of all the things he was expecting, a cordial conversation with his mother was not on the list, nor anywhere near it. here he stands, however, and despite the apprehension he feels towards her, he refuses to lash out. he has grown, she’s right- he’s far different than he was back then, not even a shadow of his former self.

                                        “as do you.” he heard about the toxins. of course he did- he’d visited the foundation after lillie left, even kept it running for a time, but resurfacing memories drove him away sooner rather than later. wicke, bless her soul, was always open about things, and was more than happy to share.

                                        he’d never even considered what his mother would be like upon her eventual return. seeing her now, he could feel guilt bubbling to the surface.

“If only the dances were optional. I tried to activate it without the dance once, and it didn’t work.” She tested out this theory against a wild Pokémon, preventing the embarrassment of appearing like a complete rookie in front of an opposing trainer. Chanting to activate a Z-Move also resulted in a failure, leaving dances or poses as the sole method of activation.

“…I also tried out chanting to activate it. Needless to say, the poses are the only method of activation. Maybe.” She lacked Professor Kukui’s extensive knowledge of moves.

                                        he visibly blanches at the confirmation- as tempting as super-powerful, one-use-per-battle moves sound, the fact that posing is a necessity is enough to make him think twice. maybe even thrice. “god.”

                                        he’s not a fan of the idea of paying the professor a visit- as knowledgeable as he is, the man is known for being perhaps too enthusiastic. gladion only has the capacity to deal with a few people a day, and enthusiastic people always did tend to wear down his tolerance.

                                        the trial captain was ok, though. definitely on his list of people to talk to again sometime, short as it was. “well, at least we know now...”

                                        “...” admittedly, he’s far more open, more understanding, than he was years ago. anyone could tell that something had changed within the woman- a toxic remark would have been the response, were she the same as back then.

                                        the lack of malice was offputting.

                                        “it’s nothing much. just... a longer coat. less rips. silvally doesn’t tend to tear clothes as much.”

                                        “you should know i’ll never regret getting null out of this hellhole.” there’s venom in his tone and ice in his glare- he wants to be here just about as much as mother dearest wants to see him.

                                        “i came to free the other nulls. whether you like it or not.”

“Actually-” Hau lifted a finger, another smile finding his way to his lips at Gladion’s question. “Flareon was the one to suggest it. He wants his kids to experience life in all ways possible, but thinks they won’t be able to if both stay here… Or something like that~”

Of course, the Pokémon didn’t tell him all this with words, he just showed him, and Hau understood, they’ve been partners for more than a decade now, the young man got used to Flareon’s antics and ways of communicating. Or, yes, something like that.

“Plus, I think he kind of like you, a lot, so when I suggested you, he agreed right away~! So, it’s not giving it away, it’s trusting you to raise it!”

                                        “source?”

                                        “of course there’s an immediate answer.” it’s more mumbled to himself- and the egg- but, nonetheless, a small smile graces his own expression. he knows himself how much trouble hau’s flareon can cause with his ‘ideas’, after all, yet he remains flattered.

                                        he almost doesn’t trust himself to raise a kid, pokemon or not. his mind is continuously brought back to his own parents- his father, missing and presumably dead, and his mother, a woman corrupt most of her life.

                                        what would that mean for him?

                                        he shakes his head, as if it would clear his thoughts- even hau would be able to tell what he was thinking, and that was a complication he didn’t need. “well, your flareon does a better job flattering me than anyone else. this is a huge responsibility...”

                                        just how is he going to handle this?

people are saying this happens because Sparkling Aria cures burns, so if your Pokémon has a burn he will try to heal it and make that heal extra good by doing a z-move instead of a normal one

and if that’s not fitting for him then i don’t know what is
