rejusticed:
“ oh, no, ” is his immediate response. such a statement never boded well, but particularly so with his current companion. goro pushes his chair back by a tiny margin, an indication of how prepared he was to leave ( both the cafe and akira with the bill, ) should the suggestion lead to an impending disaster, as akira seemed prone to cause. “ um. ” rather eloquent, if he did say so himself. “ isn’t that a rather … excessive gesture for a mere dessert ? ” that goro hasn’t simply gotten up and left is a testament to how willing he is to put up with these antics, given that this proposal rated somewhere about a 6 on the akira scale. his mind is made up, but goro pretends to take a moment to consider it anyway. why give up a chance to make more out of it ? “ i’ll agree, on one condition, ” he pauses for emphasis, “ you’re paying for this meal, and i get to order another dessert of my choice. ” well aware that it was two whole bullet points, goro crosses his arms over his chest, leans back in his seat and waits.
‘ no, not really. you think so ? ’ in his mind, coming up with an elaborate scenario like this is child’s play. then again, pretending to propose with a fake ring isn’t too hard anyway. goro agrees, to his surprise, but of course--------- there’s always a catch. ‘ you’re conditioning my love ? ’ feigning hurt, akira, too, slides his chair back a bit. straightens to take out the cheap ring box and set it in front of akechi. ‘ ․ ․ ․ fine. but it has to have chocolate. ’ looking around the place for the moment, a thought suddenly it hits akira: ‘ wait--------- um. okay. ’ realization of the obvious finally dawns on him. ‘ this ․ ․ ․ could literally make headlines. you’re a public figure, remember ? ahah ․ ․ ․ maybe i didn’t think this through. ’
