It’s been awhile since I’ve been on here and I have so much to update you on, but FIRST, I want to share some incredible news.
I am rewriting the History trilogy into it’s own standalone set of novels. Expect a lot of changes to be made because the story you read will be almost unrecognizable, but in the BEST WAY.
My plan is to open a Patreon where I’ll show exclusive behind the scenes, updates, and everything in between. I promise this time, it’ll be worth your while, but for now, here is the concept book cover.

Aww well I appreciate that. I think a lot of my inspiration has been kind of shot due to a lot of factors, like life. I work a full time job now and take the time I do have to myself so I can refocus on other goals I have. But also, Choices lately has been pretty lackluster. I've been playing still and doing some of the VIP books but nothing is really standing out where I'm like "yes I have to write a fic on it".

If you're talking about the third book, then I did but that's also because I had a lot going on and by the time I thought about actually revisiting it, I didn't know what to do with it. But the first two stories are completed 🤷🏻♀️
I haven’t written in a long time, let alone for The Crown and the Flame. I think it was my first dip into the fandom. So for this week during Val Appreciation Week, I’m going to do a short 7 part story. I don’t know if this will be my last dip into fanfiction as a whole, but either way, I hope you enjoy this complex story I’m about to whip out of my ass with no plan whatsoever.
Delusions
Rating: M for possible subject matters, sex, and cursing.
Couple: Val centric (will have some Kenna x Val moments)
Summary: The mind is a complex place. We deal with our emotions and pasts in our own ways, but for Val, she ran, fought, drank, and fucked her way through that pain.
Her mind was at ease. Numb by the ever-constant flow of ale as it warmed its way down her throat with each mug she threw back. She held her own. She always did. And it was something she grew very accustomed to in her line of work.
She scoffed at the thought of what she does as work. How was stealing and fighting work? For all the men in her camp, it was a pleasure rewarded by the spoils they obtain, but for Val, she wanted more. She craved it.
She didn’t know when her life turned this bleak. Perhaps it always has been. She was no more than a teen when she joined the Mercenaries. As a child she constantly found herself stealing from the local markets just to get enough food. She never knew her parents and she was fine with that.
Mercenary life wasn’t all bad as the spoils got more lucrative and difficult to turn down. She got her own tent and at times she’d even have a pretty girl once and while slip into her bed to let her have her way with her. She would spar during the day, drink after a job, fuck all night and repeat it all over. Life couldn’t get any better right?
What Val didn’t realize was that underlining pain as she yearned for more. For love as stupid as it sounds. She wanted someone to give a shit about her because she knew if something did, the Mercenaries would find someone else to replace her. It was easy to do in this life.
And then Kenna came waltzing into her camp. Unbeknownst to Val, she had no idea who she was when she insulted her and the late Queen, not that it made a difference. Part of her blamed society for her shitty upbringing. Because there wasn’t enough work for people to make money, live comfortably to provide for their families—maybe just maybe, her parents wouldn’t have given up on her so quickly.
But then something ignited in Val she never imagined possible. Kenna fought the biggest guy in the camp, Severin and won. It was in that moment that Val thought she had a saving grace and this was her way out of this shitty life. She wasn’t saying she was in love or anything because that would be a fucking lie, but she damn well was going to respect a woman who could fight tooth and nail against Severin of all broots.
So whatever Kenna needed from her, she was going to beside her till the end. She was going to finally respect the Queen and she damn well was going to fight along side her till her dying breath as a proper warrior would.
What she didn’t expect was how valuable Kenna would really be to her in the grand scheme of things.

The first night was rough. Val laid on the cold ground, trying to will herself to sleep but getting nowhere. This was her first night in a long time without having ale and her tongue sweat with a yearning taste for it. She was struggling far more than she should. It only made her want to forget.
She looks around the camp and sees everyone else sleeping soundly as the fire illuminates their faces. She sighs as she gets up and stalks off to the stream that isn’t too far from camp. She sits down and cups the water in her hand to bring it to her face. The cool water encompasses it, the relief almost immediate as she runs her wet hand along the back of her neck.
She lets out a deep breath and begins to stare off in thought. So much so that she misses the sound of approaching footsteps as they sit down beside her. She looks over and sees Kenna, looking as radiant as ever, though Val would never tell her so.
“Is it unbecoming for the Queen to sit upon dirt?” Val gests and Kenna merely offers her a small smile.
“I couldn’t miss the view,” she replies softly staring up at the moon as it casts a bright light below upon the water.
Val looks back. “Seems like nonsense to care about that,” she grumbles looking down at the ground.
Kenna looks back at her intently. Val is cautiously aware of the Queen’s piercing gaze as she finally meets her back. Kenna and Val sit there staring at one another almost studying and challenging the other.
“You are a very complex person Val Greaves,” Kenna says softly causing Val to sit back almost vulnerably.
“I’m not special.”
Kenna breaths out a chuckle. “I didn’t say you were special. I said you were complex,” she says, stopping for a moment. “I sometimes think I have you figured out, but the reality is, you’re layered. In fact, you have so many that I’m not sure I’ll ever get through them all,” she finishes.
Val smirks. “I challenge you to try.”
Kenna returns the smirk and leans forward just slightly. “Challenge accepted,” she says as a mere whispers before pulling back and getting up to head back to camp. “And just so you know, you are quite special. You just need someone to remind you of that,” she adds.
“Well when you find them, send them my way my Queen,” Val says nonchalantly as she turns back to the water assuming Kenna has already bid her goodnight.
“Perhaps you won’t have to look very far,” she hears Kenna reply. Her eyes widen slightly at her words before turning around to see Kenna’s retreating figure disappear behind the trees.
I got to vent about the Nanny Affair for a second. First off, I am actually enjoying it so don't think I'm shitting on it, BUT there is one huge issue I got with it and that is the whole arrange marriage thing that Sofia and Sam got going.
It is obvious that Sam and Sofia don't actually love each other, but are clearly doing this only to merge their companies so why the hell is this book treating it like they actually have to be monogamous? Why can't they just be like "look we know this is a business transaction, you can do your own thing. Hell we don't even gotta live with each other. Only thing we gotta do is keep up appearances at events". But no! Let us make it seem like they have to be monogamous because they are engaged.
