Can you make a tutorial for coloring gem hair in traditional art? Every tutorial I see is always for digital, but I saw some of yours tagged traditional. P.s. your art style is amazing💗💗
Ah, sorry, I don’t really have time to write a real tutorial, but maybe I can give you a few tips?
I have used several different techniques, but I think the easiest is using paints that lift well (most watercolours, ecoline paints, coloured inks while still wet), and lift them with a tissue to create a transparent effect. After that, add a few darker parts for colour depth. Depending on the gem i either just paint/draw on some darker triangles or lines to give it a more intense refraction effect, or a gradient for a clearer gem.
For sharp white highlights I leave some parts (especially around the edges) white, and add some additional sparkle with white ink or acrylic markers. For sharper looking highlights, place them next to the darker areas.
I know it’s not much, but maybe it helps a little?
