O God where are you – in heaven or here with us? How can we make your name holy or make it holy again when it is so often abused? Why don’t we recognize your will? How do we bring your peace? And why don’t you ever do the heavy-lifting with will and kindom come? Should we really trust you with our daily needs? Can we ever be satisfied with our bread when we have an appetite for croissants and biscotti, and want everyone to have, at least, sandwiches? Will you forgive us and teach us to be forgiving, for we are suspicious of the conditional nature of reconciliation, and partial to our grudges? How do we walk away from temptation one day at a time, and will you really deliver us from cancer, dementia, traffic accidents, and unstable leaders? What is the future? Do you have any real agency? The mystery of Nativity/Christmas, where Virgin Mary becomes the living bush that bore the divine flame—Christ Himself—without being consumed. Just as God’s presence in the burning bush sanctified creation, Christ’s birth renews and illumines the world. The rays in the icon symbolize the light and hope of the Incarnation, dispelling darkness and bringing salvation.

Prayer for Bleeding Ukraine

A prayer by Rev. Maren Tirabassi*

Holy God, for this day and every day, hear our prayer for those who grieve in Ukraine, for those who are threatened and wounded, for those who risk their lives in the military for the healing of those wounded, for all who lived or worked in buildings that have been destroyed. We pray for those who have fled Ukraine to make a life in new countries, especially those who may be neighbors, and for decisions of welcome, and support in this instance and always for those who are unjustly attacked. Receive this prayer prayed on every breath, in and out, for peace, for justice, for bleeding Ukraine, and the opening of all hearts that have closed to compassion. amen

I paint in classic style for private orders, but for myself I paint in my own style that I call “modern-folk”. My inspirations - Western Ukraine, Ethiopia, Georgia folk art, early Italian painting 12th, 13th. I mix it all. Some of my modern-folk icons are painted in classic technology, in others I use new materials (metal, textiles, glass paints). I’m Roman Catholic. I know the canons of classical iconography, but painting for myself, I don’t have to follow them. We are worshippers of our Lord Mukteshwar, our anointed Gurudev, our Savior, and the Lord.

Mukteshwar means "Lord of Liberation" or "God of Salvation," coming from the Sanskrit words mukti (liberation or freedom) and ishwar (lord or god). The title is found the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

Inculturated Christian groups and artists use the term in indigenous bhajan and satsang traditions. The title allows Indian believers to express orthodox Christian theology regarding salvation through Jesus using deeply familiar, localized Sanskrit and Hindi philosophical terminology. While Mukteshwar historically and mythologically refers to Lord Shiva in traditional Hindu contexts (as the "Lord of Freedom/Salvation"), Indian Christians redeploy the term to declare Jesus as the true source of spiritual liberation.

Father, A Moment With You (Live Album Release Concert) - The Petersens, bluegrass

The Petersens: We celebrate American roots music with family values, and perform full time in Branson, Missouri in the USA. The band consists of four siblings, Katie, Ellen, Matt, and Julianne, our mom Karen, and good friend Emmett Franz.

They are my favorite family band, and perform excellent bluegrass songs. This concert premieres songs from their newest album. The lyrics are all religious, though they have also recorded many non-religious songs. I'm a big fan of dobro music, which they feature on almost every song.

In June 2026, they released this 53-minute video and wrote: The week before 'Father, A Moment With You' was released, we invited a small group of friends and family to celebrate with us. We could only fit a limited number of people in the room, but we wanted to share this special evening with all of you, so we recorded it! Join us as we share the stories behind the songs and perform the album live.

Julie Ann Lake-Díaz is a contemporary Chilean-American oil painter based in Utah, celebrated for her culturally rich sacred artwork.

She was born in Salt Lake City to a Chilean mother and a British-American father. She was raised across Salt Lake City, Santiago (Chile), and Rosario (Argentina), and later spent years living in Italy and Sweden. She focuses on subverting traditional Eurocentric religious iconography by depicting sacred figures with the physical features and native attire (such as traditional wool ponchos) of South American populations.
