Final Reflective Statement

Today we finish the last class of communication design study for semster 1. Thinking back the first day I came in this class, I set a few goals for myself. I hope that I can improve the communication and creative skill through this class, and learn to use some design software, such as Illustrator, photoshop, and Indesign. I achieved some of my objectives, I feel more and more comfortable when I use the Adobe to do the assignments. Also, I always got inspirations from the activities in class. I think the activitives like finding letter forms around the city campus, and compose the letters with items from our bags... are good for me to improve the creativities. The biggest challenge for me is that I did’t talk too much in group activitives, but I will do my best to communicate more in the following semesters.

I discovered some skills during this course, such as type-making, layout, zine-making. I think all of these skills are very useful for me in the future studies and career.

Thanks to Andy and Karen for providing the meaningful activities to inspire me on design, and giving suggestions for my works.🥰

Today is the pop-up exhibition for our final project. I saw many interesting works from other students and I think everyone did a great job.

I have tried several different layouts for my zine，and this is the final version. The front page is connected with the back page to form the letter ‘q’ and ‘A’，which tells people that this is an interview zine. I put one question and answer in each inside page with the related illustrations from my interviewee.

This is my first time to make a zine, so I feel a little bit difficult at the beginning when I use the Indesign. I also search for many examples of zine layout to learn how other people design the zine. Overall, I am satisfied with my work.

I sketched the layout of my zine in today's class，so that I can follow it to compose the images and texts on Indesign.

Week9

In today’s class，we cut the images from the photocopies of magazines and shaped them into letter forms. It was an interesting activity that makes me extend my mind. It was difficult to find a letter form from only one page，so I combined images from several pages to make the latters.

After the activity，Andy taught us how to make the models of zines （8 pages & 16 pages）for our last assignment. It is a good way to check the order of the zine when we compose the pages using indesign.

Week7

Activity for today’s class is to find the letters and numbers around the RMIT city campus. I think this activity is a good way to discover some interesting architectures around us.

This week we made alphabet with different shapes in black，yellow and orange as a group，and we named it ‘Pikachu’😆😆

‘FIX PROBLEM QUICKLY WITH GAIVENIZED JET’

Having fun to compose the pangram with ribbon and water💦. The ribbon was too short to complete the whole sentence，but it looks pretty good with the white background.

Today I wrote my name on the clay using my fingers and tools such as stick and sharp pencil. It is really fun to carve the letters and drawing in the clay using different materials. This activity inspired me that I can try to used some interesting media to create art .

Today I used things from the bag to shape my name，and used subjects from our group to creat the alphabet.
