Please Stay by the Swedish indie electronic group Summer Heart oozes everything I want from life right now. Summer. I bet if you listen to it on repeat for a couple hours you might actually start to believe that their is no school, that we have warm sunshine and beers next to the ocean everyday. No promises though, but the hope of a delusion of summer is still better than finals right? *Selects Repeat*

Holy Molé! This one caught me off guard. I was happily cruising through some top ranked tracks of the week and came across this gem. I've probably played it 10 times in a row by now. Hailing from Sweden, Icona Pop is just... fresh. The incredible female vocal harmonies and the clean drum & synth make for a great jam.

Oh Japan... droids. Hailing from good old Canada, Japandroids has been slow to the forefront but their CD Post-Nothing is nothing short of great. This remix is weirdly happy, nostalgic and in a sense... kind of romantic if I do say so myself.

In a little bit of a 180°, the track below is mixture of garage dub-drops and electronic female vocal melodies. Definitely deserves a listen, it's been growing on me all week.

Quick change of pace today but I wanted to make sure I got this song to you all. Besides being featured in the film Blue Valentine, this track actually has some interesting history.

Nearly thirty years after the label closed its doors, a mysterious box of tapes turned up at an estate sale in Columbus, OH. Originally thought to be the lost Prix masters, it was instead discovered to be dozens of demos, rehearsals and a few finished songs recorded in Harmonic Sounds’ prime. The tape boxes were for the most part unmarked; creating a puzzle that would require some time to solve. Penny & the Quarters’ “You And Me” is a random rehearsal by a group no one can remember but, one more song we wouldn't let be forgotten.

Well, I survived the snow-pocalypse here at the University of Kansas. I stole that picture above from a friend but it was indeed taken here in Lawrence. (Thanks JAQUIS?). We had two straight days off of school which hasn't happened since 2002. So in order to celebrate the rare days off we turned the volume to max, the subs to "10" and grabbed a beer. If I could encapsulate the complete mood of the day outside it would perfectly fit as the definition for "gloomy." Not necessarily sad, but more of a turn on the fireplace, grab a really warm blanket and relax on the couch day. On that note, I wanted to leave mg[dot]com with a tune that could potentially aid in the melancholy. "Spanish Sahara" is intense to say the least. So it's finals week here at the University of Kansas and the one great good thing about finals week is that with long periods of study time I get a real good chance to listen to a lot of new music. One of the artists I stumbled over was Theophilus London. Smooth lyrics, strong beats and simple electronic melodies really set him apart in general and with "Oops". If you want the full entertainment value of the song, check out the music video. Directed by Yu Tsai, it features Lindsay Lohan acting all too normal.

Waddup internets. Looky looky what I got my hands on. Yes, that is the Quiet Corral EP. And no, it hasn't been released yet. But soon enough world, soon enough. QC set the EP drop party for December 11th and if you are in the Lawrence, KS area, that is a must. Because the sooner you can get this disc spinning out of your speakers the better. For now though, you all get my favorite - "Fly Bird, Fly"
