The Songs of Bilitis is a collection of erotic, essentially lesbian, poetry by Pierre Louÿs published in Paris in 1894 (see 1894 in poetry).
The 8hr work day / 40hr work week is an infringement on our right to be human on earth
A large part of my history work is emotional. There are surely great historians out there who have their feelings on lock while they work, but it could never be me.
For me, mourning is a part of the work of history. History in many ways is about death and about grief. These stories that we are holding are made more vital by the fact that we can never understand them fully. We can't go back, we can't know.
There is an inherent grief to telling the story of someone who is gone, often because I study queer history, the grief is twofold because it is a story of someone who is gone too soon or someone who is gone without knowing their impact.
Spiritually, I think a part of my calling towards this practice is about carrying the emotions as well as the stories. If no one in their time mourned them, I do, if no one in their time celebrated their life, I do. This comes with a lot of responsibility and pain, but I truly love this work and I wouldn't want to hold these stories any differently.

i also don't think ive ever considered myself as One of The Girls while in a group of women. i always feel like the other, no matter what the gender makeup of the group is. like im never woman enough.
"trans men transition to escape misogyny/climb up the social ladder" is literally TERFism 101 and it's crazy how many so called trans-inclusive feminists think that's acceptable to say

Portland, Oregon. October 12, 2025.
Today (Wednesday 5th Aug 2026) the UK has brought into force a trans segregationist policy stating that single sex spaces must be defined by sex assigned at birth, effectively a trans bathroom ban the same as many of the most right wing states of the US. On top of this, the guidance now in force mandates that trans people be outed non-consensually at their workplace and asked to use the incorrect bathroom by their employers, which will drive higher unemployment in an already disproportionately unemployed and unemployable population.
Today is a deeply horrible and dark day in British democracy as a policy pushed by a select few fascists engaging in a campaign of bullying, sexual harassment, lawfare and institutional capture have pushed through a policy that the vast majority disagree with oriented around harming a tiny minority of the population.
The only solution that will create change is that trans people need to organise. When this guidance was first proposed I wrote the following essay, outlining the specifics of how someone can set up a trans assembly from which harm reduction structures can be formed and clear directions from the trans community can be given to our cis allies, strengthening our political position and creating a pathway back towards being recognised as human beings while protecting the most vulnerable amongst us in the meantime.
I am aware of half a dozen locations where people have started organising towards a trans assembly since I made this, although none of them are in the UK. We desperately need this kind of organising here. We need trans assemblies and we need community formed and focused harm reduction structures.
I have made myself available to people who have started holding regular assemblies in other places to review their constitutions and organising structures and consult with them to get them off the ground, and I may at some point write a followup comparing the results. I am more than happy to help anyone who is putting together a project like this.
Please share this and organise like our lives depend on it.
Remember when a UK bookstore offered visitors the opportunity to vandalize Harry Potter pages for 25 pence? They raised over £4,000 for transgender healthcare! And now they need your support. Emily, co-owner of The Bookish Type, is fundraising for her own gender-affirming surgery that's covered in every Western European country aside from the UK and Ireland. Let's help her like she helped dozens of other trans people access care in an increasingly hostile nation. Support her on GoFundMe here.
feminist killjoy hours again, what the actual fuck is “weird girl literature” and how often do we acquiesce to the latest degrading gendered advertising campaigns
Women did not fucking pioneer horror, thriller, and science fiction as we know it for publishing to infantilize it into a high school phase
is Stephen king “weird boy literature”? Or does he get to be an adult horror novelist?
