I cannot emphasize enough how FUCKING DANGEROUS this short is. The pit is first shown “training” to be a fighter. They are encouraged to tear apart anything and everything- so, if a kitten had approached this dog, it would have been torn to shreds. Secondly, the dog is shown being thrown out of the “arena”. Dogs who come out of the arenas are winners only. So the dog probably won it’s fight but was pretty injured in the process, and was most likely going to be kept as a breeding bitch if it lived.

What you see in Kitbull is an animal that has been taught nothing but to fight and kill. It would not be friends with a kitten, it would kill it. It would not approach a human, it would hide from them if it managed to escape it’s confinement. And if a human did manage to recapture it, it would always, ALWAYS be a majorly aggressive animal and not safe to adopt.

This short is planting the idea that these animals just need love- and that’s not true. Pitbulls were first of all bred for aggression. Pits rescued from fighting operations need specialized care and training, and can never be around other animals or children, ever- and even those who care for them must take extreme safety precautions.

This is the biggest crock of shit. My family took in a rescued ex-fighting dog by chance, so I know from experience that this is not always true. It worries me that people don’t ever seem to inform themselves properly and instead base their knowledge on the nonsense that society spits about a breed they really don’t understand the history of and don’t care to read up on. Let me correct you on one thing; Pitbulls were originally, first and foremost, bred to “bait” bulls and were farm dogs. They were working dogs. And later became NANNY DOGS. People had these dogs in their NURSERIES. With BABIES and CHILDREN. For centuries, this breed was bred first as a working and family dog, not an aggressive fighter. Being bred and raised to be aggressive and to fight is a VERY recent development. And how the rescued ones recover from it really depends on their own personal temperament and the people treating them. Every dog has their own personality and handle things differently just like people. Not every dog is going to be able to have that behaviour corrected or trained out of them, and some will remain too dangerous to be introduced into a family, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been done and that some havent successfully been adopted. I’m not saying to not be careful and to be mindful of the cartoons we watch. It’s animation, it’s meant to be heartwarming and lovely and an often romanticized version of real life. Any sensible person knows we shouldn’t do or believe everything we see on Tv. But it’s trying to send the message that Pitbulls are not a monster breed. They are not natural born killers. We have given them that image. A lot of strays and rescued dogs, pitbulls or ANY OTHER BREED more often than not, DO need special care and people must take extra caution when dealing with them. German Shepherds for example, can be JUST as dangerous. What I believe is a load of shit is that you’re putting an entire breed into the same box under the same label, assuming they’re all alike based off of false information.

Finally… it’s a cute fucking cartoon. Leave it.
