“Alright, so get this-” The brunette instantaneously pulled out the chair on the opposing side of the person, taking it upon herself to sit down. Rather abrupt, it would’ve come off as rude if it were anyone else besides her. “I had this EXTREME dream the other night where I was Christina Ricci in ‘Casper.’ Hold up- it doesn’t stop there, folks!” Miriam paused for a moment, letting the intensity of her storytelling build. “The FUCKING PURGE starts to happen. Right in the middle of a happy ending with the friendly ghost, himself!” Her voice incredulous.

“So, I guess what I’m trying to get at, is: Would you take on a ghost lover? Also, how would you handle the purge when it becomes a legitimate thing in the near future?”

Bueno Nacho was good, you could call it a guilty pleasure of Danny’s but any day he was able to get it was a good one. Though his mini food heaven was interrupted by Miriam, and when she was done with her story of her dream from the previous night, he almost had to laugh at the question of if he’d take a ‘ghost lover’. It was a ridiculous question anyways but, the added bit of him being half-ghost made it funnier.

“I’m surrounded by ghosts enough, I’d rather my love life have people that can actually respond to my touch. And why is the purge coming in the near future?”

“Who’s Vlad?” Tilting her head she looked over the stranger. Cindy wouldn’t blame him if he choose to not tell her a thing, but while she was here she might as well just ask. Making a face, with wide eyes she shook her head. “Like ghost … ghosts? You just go around looking for them? No thank you. And even bigger no thank you to the ones that just … wants spicy things.” 

“Vlad Masters, he’s around here sometimes and having a conversation with him is not on my list today.” Or any day. With her question, he nodded. “Yeah, people come to me thinking their places or wherever is haunted and I check it out. Honestly most of the ghosts I run into on investigations have been harmless.” Ones outside of investigations? Not always.

Claude had a lot of pet peeves, but one of his biggest ones was having to ask people for the time. It was humiliating beyond belief to say that he’d lost his phone in an age that was so disgustingly digital. Compared to the curses that Adam and Blaise were granted, though, it had become more of a minor inconvenience than life altering; he was a Cogsworth, and he’d learned to deal with it. “Terribly sorry to bother you there, but do you have the time?” he asked the person beside him at the cafe while waiting for his tea. “I’ve seemed to have left my phone in the car, and I have to get out of here to a meeting as soon as I get this cup of tea, if it ever comes,” Claude grumbled, impatient. It seemed to have gotten busier with orders, which usually meant it was either early morning or just around lunchtime.

Caffeine is quickly becoming something Danny truly needs to survive. Some nights were good, he was able to sleep at a decent hour and not worry about it. Other nights, it sucked. Last night was actually decent but, he had an investigation tonight so, lots of coffee was needed. And truthfully, when he was asked for the time, he wasn’t even sure himself so, it was a bonus as he pulled out his phone for the answer, “Uh, about 8:30-ish?” He nodded in agreement with his impatience, “Yeah, they’re pretty busy. I’ll be lucky if I make it for my lunch plans.” Danny let out a laugh with his words, because truthfully, they weren’t anything special. Obviously not like their meeting.

The hardest thing about working with animals was keeping herself from smuggling them out every day. Well, second hardest thing. The first hardest was dealing with customers that couldn’t respect pets or didn’t want to learn how to properly care for them. She was often left fuming, but today she’d had little interaction, and she was appreciating it. “I’m great,” she smiled at Danny, putting rearranging the dog treats in front of her on hold, “it’s been slow today so I’ve just been enjoying my furry friends’ company. Did you finally decide to become a cat dad? Maybe a bunny?”

She was already so convincing and all she did was name animals. Maybe Danny really should get out of the house more. “Unfortunately no, still can’t bite the bullet there. Though a cat does sound really great.” Having any animal sounded great, maybe if he achieved his childhood dream of being an astronaut he could make a real good excuse and get one but, half ghost boy doesn’t get the same pull.

“Running from something?” Her eye brow raised to add the question mark to her words. Cindy couldn’t help but be a bit nosy most of the time. Well, maybe a lot more than a bit, but she wouldn’t admit that. “Ghost pepper pasta? Aren’t you worried about your stomach? Or is it a prank on someone? Either way that’s rather cruel to you or whoever. That’s … are you alright?” She asked a bit concerned someone would make a whole pasta with the spicy pepper. 

“Not really running as much as just trying to avoid Vlad.” The man’s own ghost alter ego causing problems aside, he was obsessed with his mom. It was weird and honestly, just the worst. What was also the worst? Having to run with this ghost pepper pasta lie. “It’s for a ghost, sort of. I’m a paranormal investigator, they’re convinced this ghost keeps going after their spices so, spicy pasta next to an EMF reader.”

Daphne let out a small squeal and began walking towards the store she wanted to take Danny into. She could already feel the inspiration coming to her. “Do you wear a uniform or ascot when you do your investigations? I know it sounds silly, but sometimes a familiar uniform makes the difference. Doesn’t make life and work feel the same because you can just…take the outfit off and move on with your day.” She had several outfits designed for mystery solving. That way she had her signature color and was always feeling more prepared than she was. Though, she did tend to get kidnapped more when she wasn’t wearing her little outfits. “I’m not saying maybe invest in one, but I am saying I will totally style you in one if you want.”

Danny followed after her, thinking about her question for a moment. The ascot, definitely not, but technically he only had a uniform if he was actually fighting the ghost, not just investigating. “No, I usually just wear whatever.” He wouldn’t really say no to her styling him in one though, he didn’t care much about fashion but, maybe it would help him feel a little more separated from the whole ghost thing that’s taken over both parts of him. “I’m really not much of a fashion guy but if you want to, I’m totally down.”

His reaction to her made her take pause - she hadn’t meant to alarm him, that brief look of panic flashing across his features and making her worry herself. Willow was still new to the whole making friends thing, so she didn’t quite know where the general boundaries of interactions were. Plus, every person was different, that much she knew just from being taught; she truly hadn’t meant to freak him out with just the photo. When he approached, looking like a scared puppy, she did everything she remembered being shown as a child to make sure she came off as approachable - lowered hands and shoulders, soft facial features, gentle smile, generally sweet demeanor. “ Sure, ” she encouraged, letting him look on at the Polaroid as it developed between her fingers. “ Everyone always looks best when they’re in their own space, y’know ? Thinking, reading, drawing, whatever it is - it feels the most genuine. ” She wasn’t sure if that sounded creepy or off-putting in any way, but she was being honest.

The photo finally showed, and there he was, still a little wide-eyed, caught mid-stride, looking just like he did in person. When she looked over, he seemed much more relaxed, which she made a mental note of, but didn’t go any further with. “ Not really, t’ be honest, ” she confessed with a slightly-awkward laugh, finally holding out the Polaroid for him to take. “ But sometimes I just get struck with a moment of muse. ” Like he used her camera all the time, like she was an art type, when she was far and away the opposite. It was just her first real time outside of the walls of the manor. “ For you. To take home. ” Referring to the picture. “ I think it might be a bit weird if I took it, considering we just met. ” Another laugh, this time more easygoing.

Yeah, he got that. That’s why candid photos were big with a lot of people, just seeing people existing. He wasn’t too big on photography and art stuff but, he could see the appeal. Especially more so now that he didn’t invisible mid-shot and have nothing to explain to a stranger! It’s perfect. “Well, I’m honored I struck your muse.” Even if Danny’s obvious panic just moments ago said the exact opposite. Then she handed him the small picture, stating that it’d be strange if she kept it. So he took it with an easy grin, “Thanks. I’m Danny, by the way. Danny Fenton.” He had no clue what he was going to do with the Polaroid, but he wasn’t going to just say no.

“Do you come to the park often? I’m usually at Ketcham in Amity Park but, this one’s pretty nice.” She already took a picture of him, and he still has time to kill, might as well make a little bit of conversation, right?

Giving a small twirl with her palms up she let the water pool in the palm of her hands with a content sigh. “The unexpected part just makes it a better surprise. I mean it’s just water, it dries up eventually.” She stated with a scrunch of her nose towards him. “I get it though.. i mean people typically enjoy it when they’re ready for it. The whole going to the water, versus the water just coming to them sort of deal. At least it’s not freezing out? That’s a nice bonus for the walk home now I suppose.” She couldn’t help but laugh at her own self as she grew soaked by the second. “Ever just dance in the rain? It’s rather therapeutic if you ask me. Or just.. act like we’re five and splash in puddles. Cause technically… it’s not too unexpected now if you walk out.” 

“I’m not big on surprises.” was his first response, which was true. Rain or not, he wasn’t big on surprises. Though she was right, it’s not freezing so the walk home isn’t too terrible and it’s not unexpected if he leaves from his cover. “Can’t say that I have. Are you really this big on the rain?” Maybe it would be therapeutic to at least let the rain wash over him, kind of like what he does in the shower. So Danny at least stuck an arm out, testing it almost.

If there was one thing that could almost always be said about Poppy Pepp - it was that she rarely ever gave up. Even when everyone around begged her to just give in, if the redhead set her eyes on something she was determined to see it all the way through. The biggest example being her friendship with Brandon. After years of trying to get him out of his shell and into actual civilization, her hard work had finally won out in the end. Which is why she currently had no issue rambling on about her latest crafting project to a very obviously zoned out Danny. This was far from the first time she’d ever had a one sided conversation and she was pretty sure it wouldn’t be the last. Most other people would have probably found their companions inattention to be rude or would have given up on trying to talk to him at all, but Poppy didn’t mind. Or well, okay, she did mind a bit - but she wasn’t quite close enough with Danny yet to yell at him, so she lets it slide for now. Besides, it ends up alright in the end when he finally zones back in and starts to respond. Only his answer has nothing to do about the scrapbook idea she had suggested that he make to go along with his work adventures. The ever present smile that’s always on the redhead’s lips falters ever so slightly as she takes a closer look at her friend. “Have you been sleeping enough at night?” she asks, genuine concern lacing her words. “You look… even more run down that normal. Not that you look bad! Not now or ever - but you do look really tired now that you mention it…”

She was concerned, which was nice. Well, as much as anyone that gets concerned about him is nice, anyways. And as much as he’d love to give her a real explanation, he can’t. Poppy didn’t know about his ghost fighting and he was tired but, he doesn’t think he was that tired to reveal it to her. But, who knows honestly. He can barely hold onto his coffee. Still, he had to try, so he just tried to put on a grin and nodded. “Yeah! Yeah, just a rough night last night.” Danny stretched a bit, some of his joints popping and cracking as he did so. “Maybe I’m haunted, that’d be pretty funny, right?” A paranormal investigator being haunted, definitely not too far from the truth.

Sam was one of his best friends, Danny was lucky to have her and he knew that. Not everyone would stick around after their friends becomes half ghost and decides to help them catch other ghosts. But Sam did. And he couldn’t be more thankful. So once in a while he liked trying to do something nice for them. Like dinner tonight. He wasn’t cooking, that would be the opposite of something nice, but he ordered their favorite and invited her over. Once she arrived, he opened the door with a grin. “Hey, Sam. Ready for a ghost free night?” Which was honestly the best part of this, no investigations and if there’s even one reason he has to go ghost, they’ll end up going back through the portal on their own because he’ll complain so much.

Cindy couldn’t help the small sound that escaped upon impact. Least of things she expected to have turning a corner was well, someone else. Even if it was always in the back of her mind to pay attention, she couldn’t speak for everyone else in that situation. It was like slow motion the way her phone flew from her hand, and her small pencil pouch with all her pens, and highlights scattering around their feet. Sighing she bent down to gather a few things. “It happens. Though, it’s a weird rule I have in my head to always slow a bit around a corner. Just cause you never know what’s going to be waiting .. or who.” She let out with a small laugh. Picking up the thermos she looked it over in her hands. “Cool thermos.. what’s in it? Soup… noodles.. or a tea?” she asked curiously. It always was sorta a way to get to know someone by what they carried in their thermos.. even if thy were a rare sight to see these days. 

“That’s probably a good rule. Guess I was just thinking of getting out of here as quickly as possible.” That was true, at least. He paused for a moment about the question of his thermos, obviously he couldn’t just say ghosts. But at least she gave some suggestions he could steal. “A ghost.” Danny’s an idiot. But an idiot with a quick recovery speed. “..A ghost pepper pasta. You know, the super spicy stuff.” And hopefully that’ll work. Danny Fenton, number one smooth talker.

Danny didn’t need a pet. He watched a ghost dog once, that was a mess, he really didn’t need a live one. He had a weird schedule with the ghost fighting deal and honestly, he didn’t want to see if any of his ghost enemies would try possessing his pet and causing issues there. He knew he did not need a pet. However, that did not stop him from coming to the pet shop once in a while. Just to look, to imagine getting a pet before once again reminding himself of all the issues it would cause. Still, spending time with some of the animals that were there was nice. Kimi was working today, Danny’s pretty sure she’s only been working when he’s here once or twice but, she was nice. “Hey, Kimi. How have you been doing?”

Danny was tired. Of course, this had been relatively usual since “the lab incident”, between school and figuring out his ghost powers he really didn’t sleep much during his teenage years. Now was supposed to be a little better, even if it was only slightly more sleep on his free nights. But after a rough night with a particularly nasty ghost, he felt like he’s been awake for a week. Which is why even with the large cup of coffee in his hand, the second of the day, he was nodding off. Which was very rude to Poppy, the girl currently telling him some story about...something. Honestly even when he wasn’t exhausted he had a hard time keeping up with her. She was nice, just...a lot. Once his grip on his coffee slipped ever so slightly, his eyes shot open once more and he looked at her with a sheepish grin. “I’m sorry. It’s not you, I promise, you’re definitely not chill enough to make me sleep. I’m just...super exhausted.”

City Hall sucked. Specifically, Vlad Masters sucked. He knew the exact cause of 99.9% of the ghosts problems that showed up here and they were caused by him. Still, even if he knew the cause he couldn’t just ignore it. So once another ghost was in the Fenton Thermos until he can get home and get them back through the portal. He could just fly home and get it done quicker but he still had things to do today, and it was more of an annoyance ghost than anything so Danny wasn’t too concerned with getting it done ASAP. So he transformed back from Phantom to Fenton and was on the move to leave, he had just turned a corner when he bumped into someone, sending whatever they were holding and his thermos to the ground. Luckily not broken but, still annoying. “Shoot, I’m really sorry about that.” He bent down to get some of her things but once he looked up with a few items in his hand, he saw she was holding the thermos. “Oh, uh, that one’s mine.”

“Perfect! I want you to go shopping with me.” She smiled sheepishly, knowing she probably looked like she had been shopping for hours already. “I know, I probably look like I’m done but I’m not at all. I would love a new insight on some stuff I was eyeballing and since you understand my field a lot more than some people do, I trust your opinion. I hope I’m not being too bold or anything!” She knew she could be a bit pushy at times. She had to be sometimes to get the gang to do certain things or to get what needed to be done just that. This wasn’t a crucial thing though, so she was trying to be chill. “I promise I won’t take up your entire day! I’m sure you have plenty to do!”

She wanted him to go shopping with her. Well that was new. And he didn’t even need to mention her multitude of shopping bags that made it seem like he wouldn’t even be necessary since she brought it up and explained she wasn’t. Honestly, Sam probably would have been the better member of Team Phantom to ask for fashion advice but, how could Danny really say no? So he shook his head for her being too bold and grinned. “I don’t know how much help I’d really be but I have a completely free schedule actually so. I’m all yours.” What’s the harm, really? Spending time with someone who investigates mysteries, similar to his paranormal investigations, when he was only planning on buying food at the food court?

At some point in your life, you eventually check the weather at the start of your day. To plan on event, an outfit, just really anything if you’re trying to avoid some bad weather. Michelle? Hadn’t gotten there yet. Which didn’t bother her, she loved the rain. Today just happened to be a day she was caught in it. Laughing to herself as she stopped walking to tip her head back and feel the little drops across the apples of her cheeks. It may have drawn some attention a time or two at the crazy rain person, but she didn’t mind. Pulling her head up she caught someone who’d ducked for cover near by. “Not a fan of a little water?” she teased. || @glowingdanny

Rain, honestly, was probably Danny’s least favorite kind of weather. Well, more like he hated hated being caught in it unexpectedly and getting drenched and today, that’s exactly what happened. It wasn’t necessarily pouring, but he still had a frown as he ducked for cover to try to either wait it our or called Tucker or Sam for a ride. There was one person that didn’t duck for cover, in fact she seemed to be relishing in the rain, and called him out for hiding out. “Not a fan of unexpected water. I take it you are?”
