growing up the youngest of six girls was one thing, but when all five sisters were incredibly more successful and perfect and quadruplets at that, it made things even more difficult. her family was one of the wealthier ones in coolsville, and that was neat and all, but with the money came the expectations to mantain it. daphne was always trying to keep up with her sisters and stand out, but she wasn’t sure how to do that. she loved fashion and wanted to be a model, but one of her sisters was already a successful one.
and then she discovered her other passion; mystery solving. she always loved the supernatural and the creepy things that lurked in the night (even though she never thought any of it was real), but when she was ten all things were put into perspective. she was at the birthday party of her very longtime crush, fred jones, and his cake went missing. before she knew it she was helping him and so were their other friends shaggy and velma. they each brought something different to solving the mystery and mystery inc was born.
as a kid she was pretty superficial. she needed to have the latest clothes and the latest style and she cared a lot about the effort she put into her appearance. of course she was labeled as the dumb pretty one a lot, but she brought a lot more to the table than that. she was sharp when it mattered and could use her makeup and fashion knowledge to bring a mystery closer than it could have been to being solved.
the downside was she was a magnet for creeps. danger-prone daphne became her nickname after being the damsel in distress for almost each and every mystery inc mission. she hated it. she didn’t want to be known as some helpless, pretty victim. she wanted to be known as a pretty and badass victim. her parents already didn’t love her “hobby” and seeing her almost die or get kidnapped all the time didn’t help.
sometimes she wasn’t sure if she loved solving mysteries because of the actual mysteries or because of fred. fred was...a complicated mess. he was her friend since she was a kid and that has always been special to her. but he has also been the only guy her heart has ever fully belonged to and the fact that he still didn’t know or has made a move drives her insane. she was obvious and everyone around them knew it, but fred? he was too busy thinking about traps. it killed her inside, it really did, but she loves him too much to ever let it go....and she just holds onto hope that one day he will see what she sees.
she really does adore shaggy and velma, even though sometimes it feels like velma is at her throat because she is the pretty one. she tries not to take it personal and just be the best friend she can be, but it hurts sometimes. especially when the danger-prone daphne jokes come from them.
once she graduated high school she had decided she has had enough of the damsel in distress nonsense. she learned karate, basic self defense, and made sure that if she was ever going to become the victim again, she was going to be putting up a fight first. it has boosted her confidence tremendously and has made her feel a little bit more sure of her choices concerning the gang. things were only getting more serious and more twisted and she wanted to be able to do more than just use her compact mirror to open a trap door or get whisked away by a creep in a mask.
when it comes to her passion for fashion, she takes it super seriously. a lot of her taste hasn’t left the late 90s and early 2000s and it shows in her collection. she is really proud of what she has put together and can’t wait for the world to see it.
she is allergic to imitation animal skin and shellfish. both of these things have helped her solve mysteries in the past. but since she is big into fashion and can’t ware fake furs, she avoids most of them altogether. she isn’t trying to upset anyone with that.
she loves music and loves singing at the karoke bar in amity park, but she doesn’t want to really make a career out of it. she thinks it’s good fun and likes to keep it that way.
some of her talents include lock picking, surfing, acrobatics, and riding motorcycles. all things she learned from her sisters or perfected during her many mystery cases.
when it comes to romance she is trying to branch out. her stupid crush on fred is still very much there, but she wants to have some fun and date other people! she has dating apps that tend to go off during the middle of a mystery case and she is fine with that because she hopes it makes fred jealous. she hooks up with people here and there, but she is pretty picky with people because of how stupidly in love she is with fred.
her favorite color is purple and she almost is always wearing purple in her attire somehow. it is her color, plain and simple, and one day she will have the rights over it. just girly things.
