HE DOESNâT KNOW LOVE. he isnât ashamed to admit it. at three, he was abandoned. at nine, a show-dog for the family adopted. at thirteen, a vagabond numb to the touch. at twenty-one, heâs a host. a cheat. a flirt. and at the earliest hours of the day with soft tender choi jinri nestled against his chest, sehun dares to imagine himself as a viable boyfriend type of thing.Â
he doesnât know love, but sehun supposes at his age heâs learned about adoration.
heâs learned about the power that choi jinri possesses, strong enough to steal oxygen dry from his lungs and replace it with herselfâa silent confession heâd like to imagine between hungry mouthsâcrawling down his throat and coiling around the jaded heart, the dismal soul.
he adores her, protective with fervidity only last shown toward an abandoned feline, one that he, at such a young age, failed to protect. along with the last of his childhood innocence.
but jinri is not a cat and surely, surely, sehun can do better with her.
he wants to be.Â
better, anyway.
âjinri,â gruff, his voice rumbles against her ear, hand slipping under her shirt for something to hold onto, to steel himself against the ghosts, the skeletons, with the slow beat of her heart. âwake up.âÂ
by this point, home was something only softly known.
sometimes jinri thought she'd found it in the ring of soojung's laughter, or in the curve of han's smirk. Â at others, she could've sworn it rested at the bottom of a soju glass, or in the warmth of naeun's soft, strong hands or in the way, sometimes, she made the choice to watch the sun rise and hadn't had it thrust upon her, or in this, or in that, or in anything and everything that didn't make her days feel like drowning.
but it all didn't matter, because most of the time, she'd lose it eventually. Â the feeling of home, and safety and warmth always seemed to slip out of her shaking fingers far too easily, grip managing to wrap around fear and longing instead.
cue oh sehun.
mercurial, magnificent oh sehun.
it would be ignorant and incorrect to say he satiated the starvation no one else could, but it wouldn't be wrong to say that he reminded her of being a girl with feet for dancing and lips for kissing and a hungry, hungry tongue for devouring. Â that thusly, she didn't mind the idea of feasting on his being or that all of it felt like permission to be alive, even for a selfish second.
so she falls into him, more than willing to wrap around a boy resting on a steel spine. Â for all her soft, she could use that rigidity. Â she rests against a broad, aching chest and it feels as natural as breathing.
which is why she doesn't even question it when his hand sneaks down her shirt, groggily reaching over to place her own hand over his.
"hmm?"
eyes fluttering open, her gaze then blearily breaches her chest, the sight of which draws faint twin roses in her cheeks, a jerk of the head to look up at the offender and two syllables, pressed through pouting lips and gritted teeth: "SEHUN."
