Lana Winters(american horror story)
Interview With the Supreme.
❀ | interview with the supreme.
The suggestion made Cordelia frown slightly. She was the supreme, yes, but that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t have carried those bags herself. And she certainly wouldn’t have called her students downstairs to help with something like that. Though, she didn’t say anything about that in return. “I believe Spalding is going to take care of this.”
With that, the blonde continued her path towards the stairs and once she reached them, she started to walk up them slowly. Maybe she shouldn’t have accepted this visit, this could have bad consequences for all of them. But on the other hand, this could show the world that witches weren’t dangerous at all; living with them would definitely be possible… But maybe, this was nothing but a dream that would never become reality. “Your room is on the right side,” she explained, “Right next to mine. The girls have their rooms on the other side. If you need something, feel free to come to me.”
And there Lana was, thinking she had already mastered the art of masking emotions and turning them into something entirely different for the world to see. Having her suggestion denied made a slight frown appear between that perfect set of eyebrows... It was a good thing the Supreme was no longer watching. However, despite her obvious annoyance, Lana's voice came out as smoothly as always. "I assume Spalding is one of your servants? How silly of me, I should have seen that coming." The reporter had no other choice but to follow Cordelia up the main staircase, which she did with as much elegance as she was able to muster.
The house was impressive, even more so than all those mansions belonging to mindless celebrities Lana had always looked up to. Everything, from the white chandeliers to the polished floors was perfect and the brunette could only look around in awe while being led to the second floor. "Oh Jesus, I wouldn't dream of bothering the Supreme... Don't you worry about me, Miss Goode, just show me to my room and I promise you I'll be more than fine."
Lana’s harsh words felt like a quick punch to the gut, even after the words left her mouth, they STUNG. The young brunette felt like screaming, making a scene. Keeping whatever raw emotions she had inside, Jenny exhaled deeply. Emotions were a WEAKNESS and she’d only lash out if it was needed. “Blind enough to leave me with a RUDE woman?” The girl was bitter. She didn’t want to be HERE with this grumpy woman. She wanted to be out and about exploring.
"Oh no, you've got that wrong." There was something about this girl that kept making the short hairs on the back of Lana's neck stand straight up. Maybe it was the sense of emptiness that invaded her every time her pair of hazel eyes met the child's, or the knowledge of what this girl did not many days ago. The brunette's unforgiving rudeness was nothing but a mask meant to conceal what she truly felt... Fear. "She didn't leave you here with me, that was Sister Jude neglecting her responsibilities, the only thing she seems to be absolutely great at." The glare Lana casted in the little girl's direction was powerful enough to break through a wall made out of solid concrete. "Mama dear left you under that woman's care. Why? Because she's smart enough to be terrified of you."
She deserved that. She deserved not to be forgiven just because she had apologized; she ought to have known by now that transgressions were not so easily erased. Lana’s words stung, and Judy merely shook her head once, gaze flitting down toward her hands as she reached to stub the end of her cigarette into the ashtray. “You can’t fault me for being ambitious, and you know it. You were just as ruthless as I was in that department. You have a strong constitution, Lana. You survived, I knew you would—I didn’t think I would, and I still… don’t know how I’m going to make it here. Every morning I wake up and think…”
Her voice trailed off; she laughed to herself because it was the only thing to do in hopes of preserving what was left of her sanity. “…I wake up and I think that I have to get myself out of bed because I need to cook breakfast for the Monsignor, and he doesn’t like to eat much past six-thirty. It takes a minute or two before I realize… how backwards I am.”
Helping herself another cigarette, at this moment in time those little white sticks seemed to be the only thing keeping Lana's mind from going absolutely nuts, the brunette fished inside the pocket of her red cardigan for the almost empty box of matches. Soon, she would have to sneak into the kitchens after work hours and steal a new one, even if that could easily cost her spending endless days in solitary. Lana shoved the thing between chipped lips and set the tip ablaze, taking her sweet time before returning her attention back to Jude. The woman looked awful, even more so than Lana once did... As much as she hated herself for it, the reporter couldn't help feeling pity for the renewed blonde sitting across the table from her.
"This place does that to you. It doesn't matter how many times you tell your brain that this is the end of the road... The goddamn son of a bitch keeps playing with you, making you believe there's something else other than pain waiting for you to wake up and grab it. But there isn't... There never is." All of this, even more so than having to spend several days in a row looking after the woman she once believed to be unbreakable, made Lana's hope nearly vanish into thin air. Trying to control the slight trembling of her right hand, the inmate brought her cigarette up to her mouth and took a long drag, eyes no longer looking at Jude but fixed on the dirty floor instead. Large amounts of smoke filling her lungs was a sweet reminder that there was still life inside her body... As long as that flame continued to burn, Lana would never stop fighting. "You'll get used to it, Judy. Faster than you think, soon you won't feel as disappointed."
░Secrets Woven in Tragedy
Her response is…unexpected, but not at all unwelcome. For once, it lacks her usual bite. Most times, Lana is practically twitching with the urge to toss him some nasty, spiteful remark…only to regret it immediately after. What does this mean to Oliver? She’s learning. Conditioning is an extensive process that requires work and utmost commitment to a greater cause, and seeing the fruits of his labor before his very eyes, a smug smile crinkles the edges of his eyes.
Together, they are a wolf and a lamb. They’ve danced this dance of wariness and distrust for years and still, these are the moments he’s come to crave. Sometimes they are like strangers enemies under the same roof but like all predators, when he’s hungry enough for her affection he must seek her out. Never in reverse.
Watching Lana close in, his senses come alive in anticipation of her touch, as if awakened from a numb and deadened slumber. Is there ever a day he isn’t eager for her affection? That need alone is what stays the cruelty of his hands. Yet Oliver’s impish smile falls as those slender, almost spidery fingers hesitate before falling delicately against his chest, confirming she still has far to go yet. It’s a shame when one has become so accustomed to deceit—the kind that would withstand offering comfort just to rudely slap the glasses off his face—that he remains untrusting rather than bask in the sentiment of this moment. Despite these thoughts, Oliver can’t resist letting her fingers slide up his chest and he’s reminded once again that touch isn’t the weakness that could bring his demise. It’s her. And he loves and despises her for it.
Her fingers are gentle and willing, a customary and expectant form of affection fitting of her current role in his life. Oliver’s gaze softens, a subtle shiver creeping down his spine while watching an array of emotions he couldn’t adequately describe play across her face. “Actually–“ he pauses, beginning to fumble in his pocket for his key ring. “I have something else planned.”
Stepping around her, he gestures her to follow him down the hall to the basement door. Unlocking it quickly, the door is swung open and his cheeky smile returns. “I figure we can’t move forward if you can’t let go of the past. And what better way than this, hm? Of course, this is only the first part of your present. The second part comes after.” Flicking a switch, the soft hum of fluorescent lighting is heard from downstairs, a sound she should be frightfully familiar with. “After you, Lana.”
@goddamn-vulture
Of all things Oliver could have said or done, having him pull away just like that was definitely not what Lana was expecting. She would never complain for the lack of touch, not in a thousand years some distance between the two would go unappreciated, but having him up and around was far worse that keeping the situation under control… If it was control what the brunette had whenever he was around and so close to her, those dark eyes just waiting to catch a glimpse of something other than fear coming from her facial expressions.
Once the fabric of his shirt disappeared from under the brunette’s hands and it’s warmth was replaced by thin air, Lana let them fall at either side of herself and slowly spun around on her heels. What she saw, made the soft shade of pink giving life to her cheeks disappear almost completely. It didn’t take her long to realize where the MD was heading to and almost as if a mood switch had been turned on within her, curiosity was replaced by a look of terror, heightened by the way her hazel eyes grew to the size of plates. The most dreaded sound of white lights being turned on sent a rush of pain all the way down from Lana’s sharp brain to the scar around her ankle, the one that was living proof of all those long days and nights she spent with a chain keeping her in place, as if she was no better than a misbehaved dog.
Trying to escape wasn’t an option, for Oliver himself once turned his home into a prison hidden in plain sight. Opposite to what the doctor told his nosy neighbors on that rainy morning not a month ago, there was no other purpose to those bars other than keeping her inside, instead of protecting his property from unwanted thieves and family members. Lana could scream… God knew her lungs were powerful enough to maybe reach one of the nearby houses, but how long would it take for this man to close the gap between them and just force her to shut her mouth? Defying Oliver Thredson would put an end to her plan, the one she so brilliantly developed and followed almost to completion; Lana’s relaxed attitude towards her captor was enough proof of that… As much as it pained her, there was only one way out of this and it was through. Just a few more hours and then he would find himself with a knife sticking out of his chest, courtesy of mommy. All she had to do was endure just a bit longer.
There was no point in making him wait any longer, not if Lana wanted to enter that basement by her own foot. Hesitant and silent footsteps carried her all the way to the open door, that place where Oliver was still waiting with his large hand gesturing towards the long stairs. The urge to grab him by his shirt and push him to his death was great… However, success was most unlikely. Obeying for what was probably the first time in her life, Lana began her journey downstairs but still tried her best to keep an eye on the maniac following her so close, just in case he regretted his decision of ever letting her out of the basement and decided locking her inside again would be for the best.
The sudden change of texture under her feet made her head snap back to the front; she had reached the bottom of the stairs and was now standing between four white walls, surrounded by medical equipment and knives, so many knives. The brunette swallowed heavily. “It’s so cold down here…” She muttered under her breath, a forced and shaky smile twisting her lips upwards. There was no need to speak another word, specially if all the things Lana wanted to say would probably cause Oliver to turn into a living and enraged monster.

Drunk sentence starters
“Let’s get another round over here!” “I’m cutting you off.” “You can’t cut me off!” “How much have you had to drink?” “Are you…drunk?” “I’m just a little tipsy. I’m fine.” “Please don’t throw up.” “Is that water or vodka?” “You planning on sharing that?” “Sit down, you can’t even walk.” “Put your glass down, we’re going home.” “You need to go to bed.” “I’m calling you a cab.” “How long have you been drinking like this?” “Do you want to talk about it?” “You’re going to have one hell of a hangover tomorrow.” “When did you start drinking today?” “Here, let’s get you to a cab.” “You’ve got school/work in the morning.”
She’s everything i’m not. She’s perfect.

I owe a lot of replies, but please bear with me. Every day I deal with anxiety problems and sometimes knowing I have so much to do makes it worse, which isn’t the point of this site. I’ll get to everything, just give me some time and I’ll love you for it :)
goddamn-vulture:
That very idea was enough to cause his H E A R T to race in his chest, the knowledge that she was finally taking in his words, F I N A L L Y she was becoming more and more willing, and he had hopes that perhaps she would eventually agree to everything that he now wanted. A child should not be without parents after all, ones that L O V E and care, he would keep her, not only the mother for his child, but his own M O M M Y too, she would have her two babies to coddle and look after. ❛ I will be a part of his life Lana, and so will you– – the P E R F E C T family. Maybe even eventually you’ll come to enjoy our little setup. ❜
Lana could barely believe the words coming out of this man’s filthy mouth, that much could be seen on the way her stern look turned into one of deep horror. However, as terrified as she was, the brunette knew she couldn't afford showing any signs of weakness, not to him. Remaining strong was paramount if she wanted to escape this living nightmare instead of sinking even further into it.
How could she ever enjoy sharing a roof with Oliver Thredson, the biggest monster of them all? This place, Briarcliff Manor was crawling with them, but he seemed to be the only one capable of defeating her and her will to stay alive. "When did you fall and hit your goddamn head? You're insane if you think I'm going leave this place with you by my side, Oliver... I rather lose myself in here that set foot inside that hell you call a house." Already fearing the effect her words would have on the man sitting across the desk from her, Lana clasped her hands together and squeezed, successfully keeping them from shaking. “If it’s a family you want, you better start looking elsewhere.”
goddamn-vulture:
A demon? Dark brown eyes narrow towards the older brunette, her mouth now shut in a thin line. True Jenny wasn’t the sweetest child, but she felt oddly offended by this woman’s words. “ I AM good miss, mother told me I was.”
Good? If half the things Lana heard about this girl were true, there was not a single bone within that short body that wasn’t corrupted by evil. Though the brunette’s glare upon the child softened a bit, there was still no kindness in the words that followed little Jenny’s statement. “The love of a mother... It can be so dangerously blind.”
Closed starter
She honestly didn’t expect to be let in her house, but when Lana moved aside Effie cautiously walked in. Walking over to the other side of the table, she pulled the chair out and sat down carefully. The young blonde didn’t bother to remove her coat; she didn’t expect to stay long anyways. Sure, she wasn’t sure how long this was going to take but Effie knew this wasn’t a place to take your coat off an get comfortable. People can be deceiving. She learned that the hard way. What struck her the most odd was that Lana didn’t even know her name. How on earth could that be? Maybe she never wanted to know who she was. Not that Elizabeth could blame her. Shifting slightly in the seat, she fiddled with the hat that she still had in her hand. In that moment it was her safety blanket. “Eff—I mean Elizabeth…my name is Elizabeth Alexandra…” The whole time the imp was trying not to make eye contact with the reporter. She didn’t want her to relive whatever she went through by just looking into her whiskey colored eyes. Taking a few small breaths, Effie focused on a dish drainer on the left of her, memorizing the colors of the plates and cups. ‘Green, blue, white, white, brown, beige, green…’ Her mind replayed over and over again in order as she memorized them as she continued. “Soo…why am I blonde? You aren’t blonde…he wasn’t blonde…or short…you aren’t short either…why am I?” The words were strung out slowly as she tried to start this conversation that she always wanted to have, but never thought she would. How do you even begin?
The whole situation was... Uncomfortable, to say the least. So many years had passed since that very same girl sitting on Lana’s expensive chair was taken away by her father that all mother-daughter connection was almost non-existent. However, the least she could do was give the kid what she wanted, if only to have her gone as soon as possible, for good.
Elizabeth... It was a pretty name, one that made the brunette smile just a bit. “My grandmother... Your great grandmother, she was blonde and so short. I remember her husband... grandpa calling her all kinds of different names.” Not knowing how long this was going to take, Lana pulled out a second chair for herself and took a seat, then propped both forearms on the wooden table. Should she grab a cigarette? She sure as hell needed one. “But she wasn’t your same kind of blonde, though... I’m no geneticist, but I suppose that can happen.” Opposite to what her daughter was focusing so hard on doing, Lana's own hazel eyes never stopped watching Elizabeth’s features, not even for a second. Now that she was getting used to them, the reporter had to admit there were great differences between her and doctor Thredson.
“Can I get you something? It’s late, chil... Elizabeth and I have some leftovers in the fridge I can warm up for you.” Even after all those years, Lana’s cooking skills remained terrible, something she wouldn’t wish upon anyone, not even Sister Jude. “It’s no big deal, let me do something for you.” Though she knew leftovers and a drink wouldn’t make up for growing without a mother, maybe they’d do something to aleviate Lana’s guilty conscience.
