New Thor: Ragnarok promo art
I leave you with this thought…It is not the one with the greatest power which is important!! It is the one who uses his power wisely…in the cause of justice!
the-m3chanic:
Tony could basically feel the organs in his body move every time Thor managed to thump him on the back. Over the years, he had learned to duck and dodge, weave his way out of the contact, but there were times, just like this situation, when his mind was preoccupied and he received what he knew was only a fraction of the other man’s full strength right against his very fragile human shoulders. A smile crossed his face that was probably more of a grimace, and he tried very subtly to roll the knot out of his shoulders, to appear as if it hadn’t hurt like it had. “Bifrost,” he said slowly, reduced to words made up of only two syllables, and since when had Tony been struck this dumb? He always had a million and one things to say, a hundred thousand different thoughts going on in his head, but right now, it was just a fog. It wasn’t even the alcohol. Just Thor. Just … confusion. He hated it. “Do we need to go to like, a Bifrost stop or can he just pick us up off the street? How does he know you want to come back? Is he just watching you all the time, like Happy does with me? That seems creepy, buddy, I have to be honest.”
He opened his mouth to ask how someone could possibly forget that Thor was a prince, especially of a far-off realm, but shut it again. Thor was giving him the opportunity to go to Asgard. To go to space. This was everything that his teenage self had ever wanted, everything he had ever dreamed about, something he had long considered when he built the first suit. His love for space had been diminished somewhat by the anxiety attacks he got any time he thought of vast, dark, empty vacuums, but Jane had described Asgard before, and it was nothing like that. “It’s like a little book that says your name, where you’re from, your date of birth, stuff like that. It makes sure everyone knows where someone is flying.” It was an answer that was completely void of sarcasm, which was something that Tony rarely provided, but Thor deserved it, now.
“Arthur C. Clarke,” Tony said, referencing the author of the quote. It was one of his favourites, too, though he had rarely looked into magic – that was more Jane’s area of expertise, proving that it was merely advanced science. He wanted to see her take a stab at explaining Doctor Strange’s abilities, it was bound to be interesting. “Absolutely I’m coming,” he said. “Should I bring a suit? Leave a note?” The last bit was a joke, but it was a good point. “How long are we going for? I haven’t done an impromptu trip in a while, so excuse me if I get jetlag.”
Thor couldn't decide if Tony was pulling his leg (that's the common phrase Midgardians used, right?) or if he was being honest in that exact moment. The latter would be somehow offensive and Thor didn't want the excitement flooding in his veins at the prospect of visiting Asgard, die down. So, laughing loudly, he shook his head. "Oh, Friend Anthony, your humor is as fine as Asgardian mead!" The amused chuckle that left his lips reverberated through the, now empty, room. "When have I go for a Bifrost stop? Our journey will start as soon as we find open land!" Tony had many questions and Thor hadn't been expecting such an intense desire to know more about his homeworld. "Heimdall sees and hears everything, it's his gift," he commented, shrugging his shoulders in a gesture that indicated he had never put much thought on it. Things were like that and there was no point in wondering why. Heimdall was a noble man, worthy of that gift and much more. "He would not be able to protect Asgard if he did not."
The metal doors of the elevator opened with a high-pitched cling and the blond entered without even bothering to check if his companion was following. The mission, his mission, required immediate departure and Stark was a very capable man, or at least capable enough to follow him. "We do not have passparts in Asgard," he explained, briefly wondering if his friend already figured that out. "They are not necessary." Not even a minute later, yes Stark Technology was fast, the doors of the elevator opened again, this time revealing the main floor of the Tower, the sun blasting through the crystal windows filling the room with light. It was a beautiful image. "The outside should be fine." And with that, in a few long steps, he made his way through the main entrance. When Tony joined him, he was looking at the sky.
"Excuse me?" His eyes narrowed in confusion, and his head tilted to the side to get a better look of Tony. "I'm afraid I do not know that man." Or why he was suddenly brought up. It had nothing to do with their conversation, or so Thor thought. "The suit will not be necessary but if it makes you feel more comfortable you may bring it." At the last question, he could only shrug. "I can not be certain. I often lose track of time while in Asgard. But it shouldn't be more than a few days."
@fallen-ww
The brief trip to Asgard turned out to not be such a great idea. Odin's library held plenty of information about Skrulls and their history, perhaps the only thing it was lacking was a detailed recipe about how to defeat them, but it was outdated information, written a long time ago. A civilization as superior as Skrulls would certainly have developed their technology and tactics over the centuries. The reason why visiting his homeworld hadn't been such a fantastic idea was because the second he stepped a foot in Asgard, he was reminded of how intensely he missed his land and people and a wave of nostalgia invaded him. If it hadn't been because Jane, Darcy, Eric, and Darryl were in great danger, as was the rest of the humanity, he wouldn't have come back to a place where no one was waiting for him.
But he did come back, and he came back with a plan. Finding his old friends and what many considered his original team was of vital importance. There was no plan without them. So, there he was, checking the last known direction of Lady Darcy's assistant, hoping the young man would know where the bubbly brunette was now and if the stars were in his favor, Jane would be with her.
What he wasn't expecting was to bump into a man being persecuted. But Thor wasn't one to back away from a fight. And so, with Mjolnir firmly grasped in one hand, he joined the chaos. "I offer you the chance to leave this human alone now, I promise no harm will come your way if you do so."

{ ✉ >> shield-brother } I am so sorry, my friend. Has that been your experience?
{ ✉ >> shield-brother } I don’t believe that’s always the case. Because of my nature, I’m unable to fight a human in a way that is fair, or equal. Does that mean that I am in the wrong if I fight one, regardless of what they have done?
(✉ → Friend Lady Diana): Indeed. But do not let my experience affect your vision of humans. (✉ → Friend Lady Diana): But you do not fight weak or ill humans.

[mailto: thor] Oh, this isn’t even close to me being hard on myself, trust me.
[mailto: thor] Yes, but I’d have to want to. I really don’t have any desire to be able to eat that much.
(✉ → Friend From Work): I don't like hearing that.
(✉ → Friend From Work): Why would you not? Food is amazing!

[mailto: thor] I prefer realistic.
[mailto: thor] That was an exception to the rule.
[mailto: thor] Okay, I really should have guessed Looney Tunes. Tweety is a classic. He can get away with things that I can’t.
(✉ → Friend From Work): It's negativity because you can sing but you refuse to. (✉ → Friend From Work): This could be another exception to the rule.
(✉ → Friend From Work): You certainly remind me of the pretty cat right now, Friend Bruce. Don't be the cute cat.

God, the Norse god of thunder talked with his mouth full. This was just too much. Jess brought her hand up to her mouth, hiding a smile behind it. “So you want me to… love… your cats for an undisclosed amount of time?” She should’ve been relieved when Thor promised to find someone else, but she felt an unexpected prickling of guilt in her chest at his words. Sighing, she shook her head. “No, no, it’s…” God, she couldn’t believe she was even considering this. “I can do it. I can watch them for you, Thor.” She really was an idiot.
At her question, Thor merely nodded. It could be anything for a few days to months or even years. Admittedly, it would probably be just a couple days. But the library was enormous and he had tended to skip the lessons that talked about the library. His younger self never thought that knowledge would come in handy. His younger self was an idiot. His head shot up when she agreed to take care of his cat friends, an expression of cautiousness morphing his features. "Are you certain? I wouldn't want to put you in an uncomfortable position." He had most definitely done that already but he had also decided to ignore that tiny fact.

[mailto: thor] Oh, it definitely wouldn’t stand out. Because I don’t sing.
[mailto: thor] I have it on good authority that I’m bad at parties. So you should really reconsider.
[mailto: thor - UNSENT] I am absolutely positive that I’m going to regret this.
[mailto: thor] Okay, send me a link.
(✉ → Friend From Work): That’s a very negative attitude. (✉ → Friend From Work): I do not want to reconsider! You were good company at the last party we attended together!
