The reason why I posted this is mostly due to the first line: “They say ‘Opposites attract’ but I think people like us fall in love with people like us.” The latter half of this statement is actually true. LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE; similarity is attractive. Generally, there are 3 types of similarities:

1) Demographic similarity in age, sex, race, education, religion, and social class 2) Attitudes and values; the more agreement between two people, the more liking there is between them 3) Personalities

In general, the more similar 2 people are, they more they like each other. Are there any instances where people become more attracted to each other when they are more dissimilar and opposite than when they’re similar? Generally, no. Nuances between couples exist, of course, but people are not usually more content with dissimilar partners.
