Really rogue but I’ve decided to try publishing some of the poetry I’ve written 🫣🫣 if any of you could give it a quick read and give me some feedback I’d really appreciate it!

It’s not my best work but it’s the one that best fits my current feelings and so it’s the one I most want to work on. Would really appreciate any sharing or feedback any of you can give!

Not to get too controversial on here but just to weigh in on the recent catholic convert discourse. As someone who was born and raised catholic and has a family who’ve been catholic as long as we can go back, the big issue is people converting and then trying to use the bible to back up their hateful beliefs. No one’s getting mad because you’re a catholic convert, they’re getting mad because you’re converting for the wrong reasons.

Like idk, but one of the first things you learn in catholic school is that you should be kind to everyone, that God wants you to love everyone around you and make sure the world is an equal place. Jesus basically says to scrap all the previous rules and just focus on loving god and loving those around you. That no one is beyond saving and that god will welcome anyone who serves him by being kind.

And just something about these uber rich people converting and trying to push their prejudiced narrative whilst hoarding enough wealth to feed a small country just rubs me the wrong way. Stop trying to twist the narrative to ‘oh but I’m just holding up all the old rules and they say I should judge this person for this and that’ when only God has the power to judge. Just because you want to be part of a religion with a long history does not mean you can try and drag its beliefs back to the past. We’re not as conservative as half of these people believe.

Stop trying to use a religion that’s so focused on love to justify your hate.

i’m still fuming actually because if mclaren thought about their strategy, they’d realise that lando did the right thing. lando created a hell of a gap, got those two papaya cars right at the front and away from max and lewis. and then gave the position back. that saved the race for both of them.

oscar admitted himself he didn’t have the pace that lando did. if lando had given the position back as early as they told him to, they’d have both had to slow down for the last 20 laps and would have put themselves in a vulnerable position. max was driving like a maniac lmao and lewis was going steady. they probably would have caught them - or at least tried to, and mclaren would have lost time defending.

once again mclaren pitwall has made me want to pull my hair out.

don’t even get me started on the guilt tripping and the gaslighting over that team radio…

McLaren fucked it up today, there’s no doubt about that. To give the driver in p2 preferential stops and then act shocked that the undercut that almost always works, worked, is insane. And with such an insane strategy blunder, they put themselves in a lose lose situation.

Oscars say back whilst Lando gets the preferred strategy on multiple occasions and never pushed it or questioned it. Maybe he would’ve asked to swap places back had McLaren never mentioned it, but it would seem out of character.

Let Lando win the race and they’d have tons of people calling them out for blatant favouritism and saying they robbed Oscar of his first win. Let Oscar win and you’ve got the current situation.

Oscar has shown immense consistency and incredible performance for a driver who’s only in his second season, the fact he is that close to Lando and is capable of winning races is a testament to his skill and talent. Don’t let McLaren’s mistakes distract from the incredible driving we witnessed from both of them today. Both drivers are Grand Prix winners, both drivers are capable of maximising points and if they continue like this there’s a genuine shot at the constructors, but maximising points relies on both drivers trusting each other and trusting the team around them.

McLaren fucked up, don’t use that to take away from the drivers.

this is a photo of pierre during media day at spa 2019. he’d officially been demoted to toro rosso while albon got promoted. red bull/toro rosso had no qualms with allowing media to surround him like this by himself without a single press person beside him, but in the meanwhile, they protected albon from questions about his mother.

this is a photo from the monza 2019 press conference. it had been a week after anthoine had sadly passed in spa, and during this press conference (here’s a link because, quelle surprise, f1 cut the version on YouTube down), you can visibly watch as pierre gets closer and closer to a panic attack while the press apparently oblivious to the effect they’re having asks drivers questions about anthoine as well as asking pierre questions about being demoted and what have you. in the meanwhile, charles inches closer and closer to protect him, which is why there’s such a gap between charles and sebastian.

in the meanwhile, pierre’s bosses are telling the media he got demoted because he has “psychological problems”

so I’ve gotta ask these red bull fans that think nyck’s team is in the wrong for leaking the news before red bull’s pr team could cook up a way to spin this into positive pr for them: where the hell was that generosity to any one of the drivers red bull fucked over the years?

where was that generosity for pierre’s mental health when he was surrounded by press like vultures circling their prey?

where was that generosity from liberty media when they made pierre sit through a press conference close to a full-blown panic attack while hearing media ask questions about his friend he just watched die the weekend before?

Genuinely curious what logic people have to claim that what mclaren did to Daniel is worse than what has just happened to nyck. Let me lay these events out for you.

Daniel got a contract buyout, that couldn’t have happened unless he agreed to it. He got a say in his departure and a rumoured 18 million. He’d done two years in that car and all but one race was shockingly mediocre for a driver of his experience level. They signed oscar before the summer break, they could’ve replaced him mid season. They didn’t. Daniel got to announce his own departure, f1 made posts about it, people were sad and outraged to see him go. Mclaren waited weeks to announce Oscar as his replacement despite already signing him. Daniel got his time before he was replaced by a younger, more exciting talent who would cost far less and get potentially better results.

Let’s look at Nyck. He’s done a grand total of 11 races, 10 in the alphatauri that his teammate has only hauled into the points twice. We get no actual announcement that he is leaving, only one that he is replaced by a much older driver before even the summer break. No one acknowledges his departure, they’re too excited for daniel to come in. Reports say neither Nyck or his family knew of the announcement, he was totally blindsided. And I’m sorry to say this, but if Daniel was any other driver with his results from the past two years no team would take a second look at him.

I’m not here to tell you all to forget about daniel and mclaren and that it was all fine, it was handled poorly and they should have put an exit clause in the contract for that exact scenario. However, don’t claim red bull have treated nyck better. Red bull demoted drivers from the top team yes, they don’t usually drop alpha drivers mid season. They’ve screwed nyck over and no one will even give him the basic respect of a ‘nyck de vries to leave alpha tauri’ post.

ngl I think they’re just fundamentally different scenarios. I will say Oscar was signed to Alpine until the end of the season, the contract he had with McLaren didn’t kick in until after that, so he couldn’t have legally replaced Dan mid-season (not that that’s really the point).

Dan got money and the chance to agree to the contract buyout because he *earned* a contract that gave him that luxury, in a way Nyck never did (and never really got the chance to). He’s back in F1 and being given a chance (despite his McLaren results) imo also because he *earned* the reputation that he’s better than that (and also yeah he’s a media darling and people love him 100% but it’s not like he’s not good).

I compare Nyck more to a guy like Hartley, who was also older when he joined F1, also never really got much of a chance, but at least got to finish out the season and was treated more generally with respect. *That’s* why I’m mad about Nyck, not because he didn’t get the respect of someone like Daniel Ricciardo, but because he didn’t get the respect that should be afforded to any damn driver on the grid, and frankly to any person being fired, fucking call the guy Helmut it’s not that complicated.

I think fundamentally I agree with OP, it’s not better than Dan’s situation, it’s just not, people just want to believe that cause it’s Dan probably, but I also just wanted to add my two cents I guess.

(For the record I’m Dutch-Australian, I cheer for them both I’m both gutted and excited, this isn’t meant as an attack on Nyck at all. I hope that, like Hartley, he has success elsewhere)

Sorry, I thought Oscars contract ran out in July before he signed the McLaren one but I might be wrong.

I understand why nyck isn’t shown the same level of respect as daniel, but it just sucks that he’s not even given a ‘goodbye nyck’ post other than two sentences on the alphatauri page the next day. F1 is a cut throat sport obviously as there’s only 20 seats, but that doesn’t have to mean we immediately throw these drivers into a sink or swim situation and give them less than half a season before abandoning them. Nyck was being slandered maybe 3 races into the season and Helmut hasn’t shut up about him since. This whole thing has been so unprofessional and I hope Nyck can find the support he needs because the past 4 months can’t have been easy on him mentally.
