The Dallas Fort Worth metroplex is made up of so many unique neighborhoods. This map sculpture, that can be found at all four Dart Rail stations in the Dallas Business District was envisioned by the artist to be a wayfinding element for a populace not accustomed to rail. This map sculpture highlights one of my favorite forms of art: architecture. Often I take for granted the immense amount of work that goes into creating a sky scraper and how they too are ultimately pieces of public art. What is a city without a skyline? And what is a skyline without our architects. I have to show my love for Downtown Carrollton. This is one of the coolest places to visit. You have to check out the Silos Climbing Project. Some savvy visionary had the idea of converting an old grain silo into the tallest indoor rock climbing gym in North America. And once you're done rock climbing, grab a bite at Twisted Root Burger Co. There’s something attractive about train tracks. Wouldn’t you agree? I think it’s because the train was among the first monumental achievements in public transportation. Think about how much freedom it created for people in the 1800’s. Now I’m going to give away the most important tip when it comes to pulling off the perfect pour over. You see those bubbles? That’s called blooming. Be sure to allow your coffee to bloom when using a pour over. Blooming occurs in the first few seconds after introducing the hot water. Don’t add too much water, just enough to get all the grounds wet, then wait. Once you start using a pour over you’ll never see coffee the same. It really does allow for the most complex flavors to be extracted from a high quality coffee bean. Before I started using a pour over I never knew there were sweet and sour aspects of coffee. I thought the dark chocolate flavors were the hight of coffee quality. Most people will agree to the standard recommendation of 15 grams of coffee grounds for every 8 fluid ounces of water. For me, I like to bump it up to 20 grams of coffee when using the pour over method. When I’m working from home I like to start my day with a nice pour over. This historic method of brewing coffee began in 1908 with Auguste Melitta Bentz when she was unsatisfied with her percolated coffee maker. Pour over coffee allows for the most control as you the brewer have the power to control how fast the water is passing through the coffee.
