💜 Today is Wear It Purple Day!! 💜 I don't own much purple clothing, but I recently dug this hat out of storage. Fun facts about this hat: 1. I have owned it since I was in primary school. #90skid 2. It still fits my head (in fact, it fits my head better than some of my 'adult' sized hats). 3. I religiously wore this hat while skateboarding because it had Bart skate boarding on it, and my friends would complement my hat. 4. Before I had any words to describe my gender, or even knew that the thoughts and feelings I had relating to my gender shouldn't be something I was ashamed of, THIS HAT MADE ME FEEL LIKE MYSELF. It affirmed me, it gave me confidence, it 'fit me', it helped me move through the world - a scary world in which I was picked on for not being girly, was called a "man" as an insult, in which tomboy was both an insult used against me and a badge of honour I chose/tried to wear with pride, a world in which I was told I couldn't get my hair cut short like I wanted because " I already looked too much like a boy" #badparenting #lookatmenowdad🖕 5. Due to iso, I am now sporting a haircut similar to what I wanted in the 90s (but was too shy to ask for and instead asked for a more "feminine" short hair style, which I was denied), so I am rocking that length and middle-part, and I am embracing it with love and pride, and have named it "the 90s flop". I wish that as a young person I had of had Wear It Purple Day, so I could have known I wasn't alone, or weird, or wrong. The power of filters... 🦋💁

Filters can be dangerous if you're not careful. This one in particular straightened my nose, gave me freckles, made my lips bigger, etc. Basically filters are like: What if you had freckles or dimples or bigger eyes? Look how much better you look now!

If you're not careful, filters can feed your insecurities.

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Not to say that I am a masterpiece, but pieced together by a master.

Seen a trend where people point out proportions like God accidentally made your fist as big as your heart, or copy and pasted dimensions around your face, like there isn't meaning behind everyone's eyes that shows us we are more beautiful than we appear. A work of art some neglect, some destroy, some abuse. We aren't meant to keep these bodies forever, but we're meant to take care of them.

You are more than you realize. The scripture says that my soul recognises God's work in people, that it is amazing that your wingspan is just about your height and your forearms are about as long as your head, pupils line up with the corners of your mouth and your legs are built to carry you for thousands of kilometres.

We all know we aren't perfect but the one who made us doesn't make mistakes. You're not a happy little accident, every part of you down to the thing you hate the most is intentional and beautiful and anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't deserve to think of you. You are precious, not just because I say so but because you are worth more than the sum of your parts.
