Hello!

So I think it goes without saying that I'm regrettably dropping from Upward, and closing up activity on my characters for the time being. Should I change my mind you might see me around, but in likelihood I'll only be playing with a select few and sparingly at that. I'm considering either using these account to reboot my characters or making new accounts to keep these as archives, and dick around with a fresh start. Again, it'll depend on how I feel.

To everyone I've played with, whether it's been through the last three years or few months, I've appreciated the fun we've had. My departure is purely for my own reasons. Grad school is too demanding to remain active in a community, and my passion for TF2 just isn't there anymore. Keep having fun, and don't hesitate to hit me up if you have my contacts. Peace.

-He hates how she answers so promptly and cheerfully, her voice having a sickening sing-song quality to it reminiscent of the most shrewdly evil fairy tale characters. With strep throat. Whether or not that’s true is irrelevant, it makes him feel better about being here.

Though he’s more so just thinking ‘what a fucking bitch’ on loop than anything else. That also makes him feel better. With thick reluctance the Spy pushes the door open and steps inside, not bothering to wipe his feet as he strolls through her office. Holding his folder up unceremoniously as he makes eye contact with her- 

I do so hope I’m not interrupting anything. I’m sure you’re a very busy, popular woman. 

-He drops it on her desk- 

There. What your cameras couldn’t catch evidently.

*The Administrator watches him approach, slight amusement the only change in her cheery expression.*

I’d avoid making assumptions about the capabilities of my surveillance network, Mr McMurphy. But I find it does pay to be thorough.

*She taps her fingers on the folder, before opening it up and flipping through the papers inside.*

Thank you. Pardon me for presuming, but I do believe there is something weighing on your mind.

Well why else make me go through all this trouble? -Randy asks, intentionally ignorantly- It's not like you're the kind of person to want somebody to suffer for no good reason. 

-Being passive aggressive is not really making any progress or doing Randy any favors, but it's still temptingly cathartic. And he's never said he's not above petty responses... a small voice in the back of his mind does remind him, though, that like it or not she wields power over his condition and she's probably not above making it worse than it already is.

But the Spy has far too much pride to listen, because it's one thing to follow orders and another to do so silently. He bites the inside of his cheek and cracks his fists at her question-

Yeah well having to find somebody you love dearly in the middle of the desert because somebody took it upon herself to dump him out there will do that. 

-Randy suddenly throws his arms up and seethes at her- 

What the hell was he doing out there!? Because he lost one fight, when we ALL get killed every DAY?

-Randy doesn’t need to register her tone to already know she couldn’t care less whether she’s interrupting him or not, and so he doesn’t even bothering answering her benign question. He just sits there tensely until he hears the line run dead, then immediately drops it on the receiver like it’s made of something radioactive. 

About an hour later the Spy is heading toward her office, eyeing the turrets that guard the front cautiously but betting that since she’s expecting him, they’re not going to shoot. He still gives them an awkward, unnecessary wave before speeding up and running to the door, tripping a little on a shoelace and bumping into it. Great, that must have looked AWESOME on camera. At least the papers in his manilla folder didn’t go flying

Grunting he bends down to quickly tie up his dress shoes then knocks on the door-

-Pokes his head around the top of the door to peer in himself, and almost gets his nose snapped as a result. That is indeed a depressing lack of milk- 

So much for cereal for lunch. But yeah I bet it's going to be a while.... if it were me I think my skin would have just fallen off. 

-He smiles back, keeping his tone light. There's probably a reason Donny only cared to talk about how he feels physically. To his knowledge, Calvin hasn't showed his face yet either. Doing a couple of rides out to the desert (this time just himself) haven't proved fruitful- 

Think your stomach can handle pizza? I don't mind ordering one.

*Donny takes the offered glass of water with a small, brief smile in return, and holds it between slightly shaking hands. After a moment he starts to sip it slowly, holding himself back.*

I… it’s hard to remember all of it…

*He interrupts himself with a fit of coughing, his shoulders shaking from the strain.*

I, uh… I was just going to my room, somebody grabbed me… next thing I knew they… they were throwing me out the back of the van, the middle of… of nowhere…

*Frowning, he peers down into the cup of water.*

-Maybe a bit unnecessarily Randy keeps his eye on Donny, watching his trembling hands for signs that he might drop the glass, and wincing slightly when he coughs. He sounds as terrible as the Spy could only expect him too. 

And his story pretty much falls in line with every other than he’s heard thus far; that some way or another the target was plucked away when they least expected, pushed through the deed only to be chuckled back on their merry way. Minus him. Randy glances down as well, speaking gently- 

You weren’t the only one who was hurt; she did something horrible to everyone who lost one way or another… she’s trying to prove a point and using us to do it. She’s, she’s a disgusting BITCH is what she is. 

But I’m… I’m so, so, so glad you’re okay Donny… and I’m sorry this happened.

-He almost says ‘for nothing' because, in complete honesty, nothing could be truer. But the same gut twisting pain that told him what Adrian was thinking when he told him to turn back tells him now that won't make Donny feel better. It's something he already knows. So he swallows his words instead-

*Donny keeps his eyes lowered as Randy speaks. He knows he should feel… something. Relief at being alive. Anger about the horrible ordeal the Administration has put him through. But he just feels sort of numb. It’s an empty, utterly awful feeling.

Randy saved him, and for that he deserves all the thanks Donny can give, but to be back here, after what this place has done to him…it almost makes Donny want to be sick all over again. But he has no words to articulate this to randy, and anyway, he doesn’t think he should. Randy doesn’t deserve it.*

You… saved my life. Thank you…

*When Randy goes on, Donny’s only half listening, It takes the unexpected force of that “bitch” to pull him out of his thoughts, and he looks up blearily, struggling to put together the words Randy has just said. His eyes widen.*

Everyone that lost… Calvin. Randy, is he… have you seen him?

-It's not difficult to grasp how Donny might be feeling right now. Perhaps made easier by the fact that he knows this young man, knows what it looks like for Donny to shut down, but more so because... well, he's not the only person here 'unappreciated' by Administration. To put it lightly. It hurts to see him look so dismayed. Randy begins quieting up, figuring Donny probably isn't in the mood for conversation. He's about to suggest stepping out and giving the younger man some rest when he inquires about Calvin-

I haven't seen Calvin around but that... doesn't mean he's not okay. I don't imagine he'd make a point to say hello to me. I don't know, but I'll keep my eyes out for him too. You're not in a position to look, not right now. I'm sorry but you need to rest Donny.

Yeah birds are kinda like that, I’m realizing. I have an African Gray now that’s pretty demanding -He laughs and whistles at it- She’s pretty sweet, but there’s just some days I’m way too sore to wanna take her out you know?

He let’s the tiny dove hobble up onto his shoulder were it sits and eyes Randall curiously, head tilting and bobbing as it cooed gently.

Apollo’s eyes were bright and he many exciting questions to ask his co-worker.
