My favorite alternates like every other week do not expect consistency from me lmao.
Also kinda busy with college things (ew)
Studying biology and healthcare, also a huge fan of history and chemistry! Science in general is like, my favorite thing ever so I will probably find some way to incorporate genetics or overly detailed breakdowns of a characters physiology and environment into my art/writing.
As per usual I can't not make a figure of my favorite characters so Pierrot joins the growing parade on my dresser and office space. Also a random sketch I did on call with a friend
So I've been wondering, how much exactly does Neko intend to get technical with the monster aspect? I mean, at least from the few times we've been teased about their monstrous forms and differences to humans, is this more of a philosophical comparison or will we get something more in the vein of speculative evolution?
At least in my brief waddling through the fandom I've found a small but passionate pocket of people that are REALLY into the more nerdy, scientific way of looking at the characters, myself included. Perhaps it's the gothic aesthetic that attracts the bookworm type.
Does Neko intend to get detailed with their taxonomy? Or can we go ham and make it as eldritch or as grounded as we wish?
Hello!
I really enjoy worldbuilding haha, so you can expect me to touch on some things about the monsters' background, even if it's not significant to the development of the story. I love adding these details to show the expansion of this world!
For example, right now I'm working on the script for the next update and developing the design of all the monsters. To do this, I'm considering anatomy, a little biology, and the environment to shape them. Anatomy is proving to be a challenge haha, although there's a bit of fiction in the construction too, so you can expect detailed information about the monsters throughout the game and comics!
The crab apple tree is in the family Rosaceae, including the domesticated orchard apple, and wild apples. They require cross pollination to produce their fruit.
"They always got mistaken for cherry blossoms where I grew up.
The younger kids at the orphanage would get disappointed after realizing their fruit didn't taste as good as cherries either.
I still love them though, the city had them planted all along the sidewalks and parks; To the point that when it became blooming time, around early spring, the air would turn sweet no matter where you found yourself.
The blossoms would paint each and every street in shades of whites and pinks, lasting almost a full month. And when the flowers finally started fading the leaves would come in right after as if welcome in by a parade.
I remember climbing them when I was younger, they were always just tall enough not to feel too imposing, and the blooms welcomed you in like a warm hug.
Even though they're still around, it's one of the few things I can bring myself to get nostalgic about..."
Since people seemed to like that last one I finally did something productive and finished my basic idea of their outfits. Anyways some yapping below the cut
Prolouge:
Oh you sweet summer child
Probably some broke undergrad who can't manage time for crap (me)
Pleasant life. Not particularly good or bad.
Lives on instant ramen and grilled cheese cause they're picky
Only-child who was kinda just handed money + the internet and told to do whatever instead of being parented
Demo 1:
Oh. Guess we're gettin swords now. They take being isekai'd surprisingly well.
Shedletsky gave them some funds which they used to buy warmer clothes. Jim gave them the bandana after they saved him!
Is currently ignoring the fact they kinda murdered a monarch and maybe doomed a whole nation
The icedagger turned their skin unnaturally cold to the touch, but also made them nearly immune to extreme temperature so thats cool
Has been having a annoying headache for a while
Demo 2:
Big ol' scar from getting clocked in the face by Griefer's crowbar (can not dodge to save their life lmao)
Turns out that headache was wings. They've properly grown in now and are actually looking kinda cool
The venomshank left no marks on their body, on account of exhausting its abilities on Brad. Lucky them.
Demo 3:
A new pair of wings are growing in. They don't mind the pain as much.
Their hair has grown out a lot more since they've been so busy with quests
Despite beating Hatred, it's left marks. You can only see their tail out of the corner of your vision, but their eyes make it more obvious.
The Ghostwalker turned their hands translucent. It was focused around their fingertips, but traveled its way up their arms.
Ducky keychain. Can't feel lonely with a friend at their hip!
Gifted a necklace made by Blue for the whole train sitch
Demo 4:
Managed to fix themselves up a bit so they look slightly more functional!
New set of wings are fully in
Wrapping their scars and hands now to hide the effects of the swords and battles
Their hands are burned from the Firebrand, but the odd sense of being watched is far more distressing to them nowadays.
Not exactly guilty feeling? They know Trotters death was tragic, but they think of it less as a loss and more-so a waste. They do feel a twinge bad for their impact on Calypso, though.
I have literally the worst cold known to man rn and have been living on tea, medicine and ao3. I feel like a sickly medieval child this suckksss. Anyways here's my stupid cat, her names Mouse
